This sums up how I feel.
TPATH and MMJ would be a dream show...
if it weren't a Tuesday I'd think about it, unfortunately I'm gonna have to opt for Tweeter Center shows if I go at all.
And BTW, if anyone knows anybody getting rid of a PJ ticket for The Black Keys night at MSG, lemme know!!!

dang. if you're interested in going sans familia, ticketmaster still had tix available as of yesterday. kinda pricey but, for petty & mmj, well worth it. it's not a massive arena so even the nosebleeds there aren't too bad. i also had a gander on ebay & there are tix up, but for BIG bucks... maybe the prices will come down as the date gets closer??
hope this works out for you somehow.

Thanks, we'll see as funds become available- I would like to go but have to just wait it out.
I just got 2 tix, section 240, lol, can't get much worse seats than that :D reminds me of the time I was in section 320... for New Years at MSG :D
AMC - i'll keep my eyes open & fingers crossed for ya!
fiddle - according to wikipedia IZOD & MSG have the same capacity, but for some reason IZOD doesn't seem as massive to me. you will be a-okay!
Question is: do I get tix for this show not being a Petty fan, or do I hold out on hope for another east coast tour? I can't afford to do both
QuoteQuestion is: do I get tix for this show not being a Petty fan, or do I hold out on hope for another east coast tour? I can't afford to do both
I think you wait it out. I think if there is a tour, we will know fairly soon - and I don't think Petty tix are flying out the door. I would actually guess prices will come down on stubhub/ebay/craigslist as it gets closer.
finally got my tickets - section 121!

Hey CD -- this is at the Izod center/Giants Stadium. No lawn seats available to my knowledge - it's an indoor venue.
There is a new train stop at the stadium --

Keep me posted.... ;D ;D
so, looks like rain on tuesday. personally, it wouldn't phase me if this WAS an outdoor event. but, izod is a closed arena. tailgating might be difficult but i am still game. surely we can work something out.
penny - if you take the train from hobes to the essex street stop in hackensack, i can pick you up on the way over to izod:
http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainSchedulesFrom
and i'd be more than happy to drop you at the secaucus junction afterwards, where you should be able to catch a train back to hobes (hackensack lines stop pretty early - mainly a commuter line). let me know if you are down.

Is it normal that I haven't been able to focus AT ALL today? I can barely contain the excitement! :D
I'm going to the show tonight and was just wondering what time MMJ went on stage. Thanks.
epforbes - my ticket says 7:30 so i would imagine something pretty close to that. they might want to hit the stage on time to max their set time *fingers crossed*

We are home already -- left before Petty came on (babysitter) and (lame ass) Tom petty fans.
Thanks to Liz & Lil Sis, we were able to "stub down" to awesome seats, where, naturally, we were not sitting! After about 5 songs, a lame old couple yelled at us to sit down. I looked at this couple, with a sense of complete and honest bewilderment....tunrned back around and kept dancing. Then after 1 more song, the wife walked up to the security guard standing right in front of us (which was the floor section) complained, and he told us we had to sit down. I was like, seriously, this is a concert. And then I proceeded to ask him about the policies of the venue and that I found it very hard to believe that there was a rule that standing and dancing was prohibited during a concert. Bla bla bla.....we moved back a few rows, got yelled at some more, and sat down for a song or two. I even pleaded my case to Jim, letting him know that we were sorry, but were made to sit down ( I was a little loud, a little jersey). Then came OBH - which we knew was the last song. I informed the comatose row of people behind us (me, bob & fiddle) that we WOULD be dancing during this song, but that as soon as it was over, we would be outta there. They were cool.
9 song set, let me remember --i think this is right:
Rollin Back intro
The Way that he Sings
Off the Record
Gideon
Golden
Magheetah
I'm Amazed
Circuital
Tonight I want to Celebrate with You
Wordless Chorus (did I imagine this)
One Big Holiday
Was a wee bit shorter than we hoped for, but we were SO happy to be there, and so happy to cheer and scream for the boys, when so many people were sitting in their seats - CLUELESS!
Oh yeah, during the dancing I lost my phone, amex and driver's license. Luckily someone nice noticed us and gave me back my phone and amex after they were done (and we were by the concession stand) I was lucky - then we ran back and found my license.
Love this band so much!
Nighty night! See ya in Philly!

Glad you had a good time despite the lame peeps around you.
That no standing/dancing rule is either a load of bull or new. I've been to quite a few Bruce shows there and I can assure you 99% of the crowd was standing and dancing for most of the show!
It baffles me that people would actually complain about someone standing/dancing at a concert. It's rock and roll for crying out loud!
Thankfully we won't have any such problems in Philly. ;)
Must be the pathetic Bon Jovi fans that lost their way.

Fun show, Petty rocked the house after. Such a MMJ tease. Super psyched for Philly now.
Can anyone pick me up the new green owl shirt xl at Philly? 40 bucks at the Tom petty concert.
that set list looks right on, trish.
awesome show by our boys. they put it all out there for whoever was there & listening, as always. will hopefully get my pics & vid up on here tomorrow. different seeing them from that vantage point, but, i liked having an unobstructed view of the whole band.
i do like tom petty & the heartbreakers. really, i do. but their fans fucking suck. i got hollered at after every song by some guy saying "you're blocking my view. can you either sit down or squat?" squat? for real??? (ok, so, i wasn't in my purchased seat. i did wander down to the bottom of the lower tear to be as close as possible for mmj. i was there to see them. is that wrong in any way, shape or form? NO.) so, after the 3rd or 4th time of that nonsense, naturally, i asked if they could just stand up instead, and all 5'4" of that dude stood up & got right in my face, chest puffed out, asking me to repeat what i'd just said. for real??? really???? like we were gonna fisticuff or something. good lord! honestly, i probably could've taken him (my chest is definitely bigger than his ;D) but, me no like to fight. so i got an excellent quad workout squatting during the next song. and then, the seat nazi tapped me on the back, demanding i show my ticket (even tho the people whose seat i was in were not anywhere in sight). blast! relegated to my real seat, 23 rows up. amongst the sitting and dead.
fucking hell.
side note - there was a q-tip (white hair, beyond gray) couple across the way from us & they were standing the entire show & hugged here & there. this made me happy :)
anyway - great to hang with rich, mitch, trish, bob & laura. oh yeah, and jim, carl, patrick, tommy & bo :D (wouldn't trade it for anything) (plus, T5 is going to rock the motherfucking house)
EDIT
yes, rich - smoking from shooting was played! (yeah bob!) it was played as i made my way, very slowly, up to my seat, stoppping to look back over my shoulder, in true bratty toddler form >:(
we were up top, but in the front section, on the side of the stage. sadly I got there during Gideon, but traffic was bad, as expected. and just relieved I didn't miss more.
no complainers up in our section. and my friend and I moved back several rows just to have room to spread out.
GREAT show!
and great, but shorter than expected Tom Petty set.

QuoteQuoteQuotei do like tom petty & the heartbreakers. really, i do. but their fans fucking suck. i got hollered at after every song by some guy saying "you're blocking my view. can you either sit down or squat?" squat?
I can't believe how rude that guy was. I mean, I understand they had seats and all but they weren't even into seeing MMJ they were just being brats. However, when we were able to get into a row and have everyone shift down one to let us in, I apologized to the people sitting behind us explaining we were really only there for MMJ and that we would be moving as soon as they were finished. They were totally cool about it...they weren't even paying attention.
So, I thought we were in the clear but when Smoking from Shooting was being played this butch Emmanuel fucking Lewis lookalike security guard made us move. It just blows my mind. We had great seats so I can't complain too much but I was pretty pissed that we had to move for no reason! No dancing, no having fun?!?! Kill yourself!!!!! >:(
typical NJ/NY audience. :( >:(
And Philly. Happened to me a Wilco Show.
And by me, I mean I was totally enraged even though I sat about 15 rows behind them and two sections over, but still saw the fracas.
ynwa, when you mean "seat Nazi" do you mean the usher or the douche? Because if it was the douche I would have just mooned him or something. But then again, I'm an instigator.
The only time I've had an issue like this I just said excuse me, went and got a beer, handed it over.
Then again, I'm not a tiny dude, or at least I wasn't at the time. So that may influence 40 year olds in turtlenecks tying to act tough.

Please don't knock my homestate of NJ, I was at the TPATH in Massachusetts and it was the same shitty situation. I feel like audiences everywhere have forgotten how to enjoy a rock and roll concert without the assistance of alcohol and drugs (even then, some people still sit like zombies during the performance).
The only places I really see people getting down at anymore are jam band shows, where I can tell everyone is on some crazy shit. At indie shows, people refrain from even nodding their heads while I get lost in the music through rockin the eff out.
As a musician, the worst feeling is looking out at a motionless audience during a song you are pouring your heart into to make it groove. I can understand during slow, quiet songs but c'mon people how do you not shake your tailfeather during Touch Me Pt. II?
QuoteQuoteMust be the pathetic Bon Jovi fans that lost their way.
LOL hysterical! Had to sit through Bon Jovi at Live Earth in 07 --- and yes, I think these were the same people...
I'm so sorry to hear that. My ears would have been bleeding in pain.
that sit down business totally blows .. it happened to me @ the beacon and i had FRONT ROW SEATS. talk about livid!!!

This happened to me at the beacon, too., it was just some asshole with a fake new york accent saying "heyy siddown fo da slow songz, okay!!!" thank goodness some sweet young ladyin front of me told him very politely that he was an asshole and he should stand up. ;D
choder - it was an usher that made us move. but i wouldn't be surprised if the asshole was behind it.
sorry about the negative post. i was just really irritated about that nonsense when i made it. i still am today but i'm trying to focus more on the good stuff.
like how awesome it was that trish, bob, rich, mitch, laura & i were able to get down to the bottom of the lower tier, pretty close to the stage. and we did make it almost all the way thru the MMJ set there. there were a couple of other people by us who were rocking out too & were very kind to shift over a few times to help us out. MMJ played a blazing hot set! the more i hear circuital, the more i like it (it's been a grower for me) & i'm giddy with anticipation over what the new album is going to sound like. after we got relegated to our real seats, there were 2 dudes a few rows in front of us that were rocking out too & we hi-fived. jim was as gracious as ever, thanking everyone for coming in early to check them out & he did totally waive to us when we were down front :D TPATH put on an excellent show. i really liked one of the new songs, i'll have to find out what it was... but yeah, all in all, it was a great night.
except for me taking a digger in the lot on the walk back to the car. i was scanning, trying to find the car & not looking where i was going & there was a step down that i totally missed. ;D ;D ;D
i'll post some pics in lil sis' thread

Glad to hear you were all able to get close for as long as you did. Sounds like an awesome time while it lasted!
How cool Jim waving to you guys must have been. 8-) I hope someone caught a pic of that, but if not, I'm sure you all have that seered into your memory. ;)

thanks for sharing .. that's a most excellent wave to get!!! so glad you all were able to be there :)
I know I'm late posting this, but I wanted to let you guys know that when I went in for my will call tickets (probably like 5:30 or so) I heard the boys doing Just One Thing during the sound check. It was at the end of the song, "I want it so bad, its the first thing..." I couldn't believe my ears- I've never got to hear that live. I also thought we would get it during the set but guess they are just practicing for T5.
Loved the show. Agreed about the crowd. Had two old dudes next to me with the typical, "I wish we got ZZ Top as the opener" sentiment. I told them my two favorite bands were playing tonight. After MMJ I asked them how they liked it and they said it wasn't their thing. Will be a totally different energy at T5, can't wait!

that's awesome that you got to hear just one thing during soundcheck!!! one of my faves (actually, every MMJ song is my fave) & i cannot wait to hear it live @ T5! DREAMY!!!!!
for the most part, i did not get the crowd on tuesday. i've been to a few shows there & have never had this problem before. usually everybody else is up dancing & having fun in their own way. and i wouldn't say it was necessarily an age thing either. i just don't get it.

To be fair, I never "got" people who liked ZZ top beyond their 3 songs that are indistinguishable from each other.
