Title: Highlights from Tennessee Fire
Post by: Honest Man on Oct 19, 2010, 08:16 AM
It's about twilight now blew me away. Johnny Quaid showing up. Cookie Monster on Pooch's head. Rocket Man. Hot Legs. What a night! I have never
seen the band so happy in my life. It looks like they had a blast as did I.

It was all so new for me to hear live that I really can't think of a single highlight.  Johnny showed why as much as I love Carl, he just lacks the stage rock charisma and presence that Johnny has boatloads of.

I feel so fortunate to have attended the show.  If there was one highlight, it was rockin out with ALady and all the other forum peeps.  The vibes were great.

The whole thing was unreal. I went in expecting a mellow, laid back show, and got anything but. It could have turned anyone into a fan. I'm almost at the point of saying it was one of their best shows I've seen, which makes me wonder how I'll survive the rest of the week.

1. It's about twilight now
2. Rocket Man
3. Searchinbig with his cute little daughter rockin out upstairs
4. Dragonboy, Sparkle, and Ralph coming from overseas
5. Headhunter's enthusiasm
6. McGees, Great bartender who will be at the show tonight
7. JOHNNY QUAIDE--I've been stalking the wrong cousin-they were having so much fun jamming up there

GREAT NIGHT 1!!
I'm at work, exhausted and my voice is gone already.
See ya'll tonight, I don't think I'll be at McGees, gonna try to get over there early with Ms yvon. WESTERN NIGHT.

PS CHODE? Where were you? Are you meeting up tonight?

i've seen a shit ton of mmj shows, and i walked away last night (relatively sober) thinking the same damn thing. i think it was the best non-festival show i've seen them put on. for not playing some of that stuff in years, or never live, they were so on point.

I agree. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

You could tell it was going to be a special night from the get-go.

Twilight was sooooooo EPIC!

Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of this material brought back into regular rotation. How could it not be? It was so amazing.

WHITE FUCKING RABBIT.

Holy shit. The cape was made for that song!

For me, major highlight was Johnny Quaid.  Such an unexpected surprise and delight, and the chemistry was so hot.  He is a sexy mofo that is for sure.

Other highlights:
-Seeing all of the beautiful forum faces....feels like a big family, cannot wait to experience this week with all of you :)

-I Will be there when you die

-and of course, of course ---Tyrone!!!!!!!!!!

See you all tonite kiddies

Show was amazing. I, too, expected a nice mellow show. Ended up being a rager. I thought the show was amazing. Johnny REALLY killed it.

With that said, I wish they would have stretched out the opener to White Rabbit a bit more and really got psychedelic.

I Just Wanna Say's outro was hypnotic into Rocketman. Holy shit, what a great show.

I was at McGee's briefly. Met ghostonTV, I might be there tonight, but I will be there early trying to snag a poster. Last nights poster was AWESOME. If anyone has an extra let me know!

1) The freeze-frame
2) During war begun, while hypnotized by the raging guitar solo, Patrick did some ball-bashing fill so powerful it broke my trance and made my jaw drop
3) War Begun, as expected
4) The Bear, not as expected, though maybe should have been expected
5) Tyrone

The highlight for me was the 3 song punch of Twilight, Evelyn, War Begun.

*WHITE RABBIT

* War Begun, which is by far my favorite song ever. I'm sitting here watching the video I got of the entire song (I was on the rail), and I can't WAIT to share it. I wanted to rock out so hard, but I held steady. That rail afforded me some sweet pictures.

* Didn't get to meet many forum members, but I did meet Searchinbig...we were the bathroom directors on the rooftop.

Looking forward to meeting more of you this week!

- the arrangements blew me away. Everything seemed so considered and perfect. Like the stop/starts in They Ran and just Jim and Carl on If All Else Fails.

- It's About Twilight Now

- The Bear

- Being there!

TTF & AD don't get special records but the reprints are available.  $20 iirc

1. I will be there when you die - the lighting on Jim for this solo masterpiece just about made my heart melt.
2. Jonny Quaid/Carl/Jim shredding guitars and making my ears bleed for Its About Twilight.  It makes me think the reason they don't play this song live because in some weird way it "belongs" to Quaid - im just so fortunate to have seen him play it live.
3.  being sober for the my first ever Jacket show - man I was in it!
4.  For a lot of the slower songs there was a lot of "hoots" and "hollers" coming from the crowd - BUT, during during "Butch Cassidy" the crowd seemed to be in a beautiful trace as the song slowly moved over everybody's soul.
5.  I just wanted to Say -> Rocket Man was flawless.

That was one hell of a show boys!  Not only was it a great Rock & Roll show, but it was just a wonderful showcase of a piece of work.  Well done.
