man I'm soo bummed I can't go to any of these shows. Especially It Still Moves and Z. But at the same time, if I went I'd probably have gone by myself and if I had to listen to I will sing you songs and Steam Engine without somebody to hold I would get really sad, I just think those two songs are meant to be enjoyed in the embrace of another human, you could even slow dance to them. Have fun everyone :( Everybody pair up for those two songs, or just hold somebodies hand!

The covers, in my opinion at least, have been pretty surprising. I don't know what to expect for tonight. I think I know what to expect for Fri and Sat though.

This is going to be the best show ever. IWSYLS is better than Steam Engine.

Last night was a great night. Watched some horror movies with a really cute girl I met this week at my hotel and then we went out to some bars in lower east Manhattan. Ended up at one of her friends loft and just hung out and had a great time. Left around 6 am and had breakfast at a really cool diner...she took a picture of me there. NYC is so fucking beautiful omg I want to move here.

What was Rollin' Back like Johnny?

Well, the sound quality through my cell was shit. It kept cutting in and out (probably the volume damaged Seth's phone and nearly melted mine). I could fill in the gaps from memory. It was all Jim and his Voice. It was the most beautiful thing played through the most horrible of speakers. I'm really glad he called to share the moment. Heard the whole thing, from start to finish. Seth and I hardly spoke, 'cept for me to thank him.

Just finished reading about all the encounters and saw all the pics from last night. I'm so happy for everyone there and at T5 this week. EU on Saturday will be great, but I wanted each of the other nights more. Tonight's especially. Guess I'll go downstairs and play me some Steam Engine, Dancefloors and OBH on the Omnichord.

Phenomenal set! Jim's banter was great. We even got some laser harp! The clock arms were the best I've ever seen, and It Makes No Difference was out of this world.

Also, anyone see the tromboner from Deerland when they first came on stage? He looked like he couldn't believe he was really on stage with MMJ.

If Steam Engine wasn't 20 mins, it definitely felt like it

I took a bunch of pictures from Carl's side of the stage. I was up in the corner. I think I was near board members but I'm not entirely sure. The show was ridiculous. Steam Engine was about as epic as it could get. The horn section... what else is there to say... One Big Holiday and Easy Morning Rebel... so dope

Wow wow wow. I have never smiled as much as I did at one concert. Only our boys can pull off It Makes No Difference with All Night Long.

2 more to go. I have dragged 3 newbies so far, and gave away another ticket to AD. Tomorrow 3 new ones and one more for Saturday. Slowly but surely I will have my MMJ army ready to go to the robot war.

TTF - Its twilight now.
AD - Xmas Curtain

Another great show. The highlights of the album set for me were Easy Morning Rebel and Mastern Plan. The horns were a great addition. Steam Engine was great as always. The encore set was really fun and I love pretty much all of these covers. But when forced to pick I thought It Makes No Difference was the stand out of the night.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

literally had a smile on my face the entire time.....even without getting a poster. i enjoyed that show so much. johnny quaid was pretty awesome. the whole album was great but then when they played "tonight i'll be staying here with you" i went nuts. that song is just amazing and jim nails it.

yes! he looked really psyched the whole night. i watched him mostly during their opening set & he seemed all sorts of fired up. all smiles, some arms raised fist-pumping & general rocking out maneuvers. he was a very happy dude. oh, and he's pretty effing hot. sorry, had to say it.

i've said this many times before but i felt like this was one of the best shows - ever.

wow was the energy high and i don't think i could describe it to someone who wasn't there. my favorite of the first 3 nights by far.

was front row center 2nd level balcony instead of at the stage and got a very cool perspective on the whole place rocking out. too many highlights to name (20 minute kick ass steam engine!) but what other band has the balls to cover dylan and the band in an encore and then end with a lionel richie cover! what a party!

can't wait to see ya all tonight and how elated and tired and sad i will be when this is all over!

what a good tired i feel today.

I'm still smiling...wow what a show. I got in line at 6:20ish...got my poster. From the start of the night, everyone was in a great mood and pumped for the show. The opening band was pretty sweet, and we could see some of the MMJ members watching from the backstage balcony.

The album part of the show was epic...I just couldn't get enough. Master Plan & Easy Morning Rebel were very nice, and I think I pissed myself during Run Thru. I have always loved the floating effects of Rollin Back & Just One Thing, and how they crash into Steam Engine; this was fully experienced last night...these tracks took my soul up into the rafters. JJ was full of emotions last night (more than usual) and One In The Same was such a touching taste of his depth as a singer...it was chilling.

The covers were hot...some that I have never heard, but Sooner and How Could I Know made me melt. The closer was such fun and it reminded me of the NYE show...so much fun...All Night Long.

It was wonderful to see all the forum friends...I'll see you tonight....

All Night Long was a personal highlight for me. My wife and I sing that song all the time for some reason, around the house, etc. Hearing MMJ (and horns!) close with a rocking version was great, and watching the dance party on the floor was even better!!

Such a good show. Can't wait for tonight!

ok, so this was my first show, it was pretty damn awesome, wish i had some money to go tonight or tomorrow. i was unprepared as i thought though, didn't know any of the encore songs except all night long, still good though, i liked the band cover, i'm assuming this is a rare favorite? because the crowd went pretty crazy for it.
i ended up about 10 feet in front of the sound board in the center, sound was perfect there, although they need to turn the volume up on jim's guitar.
why is it no one hear writes how awesome mahgeeta, dancefloors and one big holiday are? do they just play them a lot so you guys are looking for the more rare songs?
and last thing, but very important, are there any recordings available? i've been pretty spoiled as a phish fan, we get the soundboards of every show a couple hours afterwards.

Let's see, could it possibly have been a better night? If Jimmy had walked out said "good evening. This song is for Mahg33ta. It's called Mahgeetah" that would have been a cool start. Short of that, pretty much perfect.

It's fun writing these reviews for those that aren't able to be hear, but I wonder if all of us continually saying "OMG best night ever!" starts sounding untrue. Well, trust me, this show blew the top off Terminal 5 and, at least for me, surpassed At Dawn (I missed the first).

Highlights for me:

OBH with the whole gang
Run Thru was a MONSTER. Lights were great. Patrick's clock hands. SO good to get the full song after a few shows of the snippet.
It makes no difference
all night long (lol you had to be there) - these encores turn the crowd into a party
steam engine that just didn't stop
that trombone guy from the opener rocked - i couldn't take my eyes off him whenever he came out with the jacket
and How Could I Know, a song that's been a personal favorite for a long time (although for some reason I thought it was a Z song)

SLEEPING IN BITCHES !! life is good :)

IWSYS and Makes No Difference were highlights for me ... and Run Thru which goes without saying. damn fine show and damn fine folks to share it with too!!

... and RE: work, i'm SO LUCKY that we have no shoots this week and i've managed to sneak out early everyday. and currently my boss running around with a guitar and fake dancing to phish. i love my job, life does not suck !!

I realize this is an EXTREME long shot, but last night I bought an ISM shirt for my girlfriend, slung it over my shoulder and by the time I found her, the shirt was gone. She was devaststed and i felt so incredibly stupid. If anyone has an extra of any size - though, the smaller the better - I would compensate you handsomely to take it off your hands. Many thanks! It's a midnight restriction? That's still good to know. I know last night we must have been out at like 11:45. Tuesday I think was much closer to midnight.

I'm more pumped for Saturday going til 1 am since in a perfect world, the Encore will just be the new album in its entirety

whatever "system" security is using sucks. even though we were towards the front of the line outside (rolled in around 4:30), just before they opened the gates to let us head up to the roof, they had us go from more or less a single file line to all bunching up/cramming together @ the gate. so, folks who were there for hrs & hrs didn't necessarily get in first, as others who had strolled over later were able to push their way up & get a better spot in the line on the roof.

not complaining about my spot for any of the shows; i've been very, very lucky w/ being no more than 3 people back from the rail. last night's spot was great except for the fact that the 2 chicks on the rail directly in front of lil sis & me didn't dance, bob their heads, or make any kind of gestures or motion indicating that they were happy to be there. statues. they could've done that from the back.

of course, if they pop up w/ a taping i will be eating some humble pie.

Totally retarded system they have. They should operate like any other club in the city does. Have a line roped off. Have one person check your ID and ticket, then let that person through to the next station to get searched. This can be done just as quickly. Coming into the line to check IDs and then trying to check everyone's shit at the same time just doesn't WORK. Have a real system and implement it.

And those girls in front of us could have been DEAD for all I know.

Back at my computer - I realized I forgot another highlight.

Jim made a PERFECT speech about how happy he was that the old band members could join them. He said that the world changes, and people change, but the fact that everyone could be up on stage, peacefully, and on the same page - meant a lot.

I don't pretend to know the current dynamics of the bandmembers, but it's been certainly on my mind as Quaid comes out and rips it up each night. I watch for any band interactions, and how cool and graceful and generous Carl has been. The words Jimmy said were so heartfelt and honest.... you could see it in his face and eyes.

Was anyone else touched by this?

The Virgin I'm bringing only knows Okonokos. I don't think he's heard a single song off EU, which is good, because I'm a firm believer that whatever faults that Album has are made up for when played live (except for I'm Amazed's over exposure - not the band's fault).

So I'm not telling him that to see his reaction. I don't have any worries he'll be like "oh this band sucks" but I do hope they whip out another OBH or something from the other nights just so he can get a taste.
