Title: Bye-bye to Hawley-Cooke
Post by: danilove on Aug 18, 2003, 11:13 AM
God damn it! I only left Louisville a year ago and (already) our beloved bookstore has been devoured by the Man! RAH to corporate America!!!

Check it out - though I fear it may break yer heart:

WTF??  Greedy bastards.  I don't understand this at all.  Hawley-Cooke is like the best book store in the country-Borders is like the Wal-mart of bookstores.

Damn it!  What's next, Ear-Xtacy??  >:(

As a former hawley-cooke bookseller, I say I hate to see them go.  We've got to support the independents.  That's why I've got to buy my copy of It Still Moves at Ear X-tacy, rather than order online, despite the enticing promotional offers.

Those sons-of-bitches!  I hope there are some massive protests followed by a book-buying party at Carmichael's.
I wish I was in town for it.

Plan it now!  Maybe the Jacket will play.
