Title: Missing the hair???
Post by: TheBri-Man on Nov 08, 2007, 03:15 PM
After seeing some pictures and watching some video of the Bridge School show...is anyone else kinda wishing Jim had his beard and longer hair back?  I mean I'm all about changing your look or whatever...but it doesn't seem as mystical without the hair in his face and then flying around.

I think "mystical" is the perfect way to describe the hair.  I remember the first time I ever saw them live and it was just swirling hair and really loud, mind-blowing, beautiful music.  I had no idea what any of the band members looked like and the hair was probably a better way to represent the music visually than a face.

It's funny, I think the hair could have become a cliché or a trademark of the band but Jim was savvy enough to get rid of it before it lost the mystical appeal and became something that it wasn't.  At this point I think the VOICE and the Magnum P.I. facial hair speak for themselves.   ;)

Still, I remember being blown away by a blissful wall of sound and hair.   :)

Jim used to hide behind the hair a bit.  See the OBH video from Conan.  I think it's cool that Jim has found the confidence to face the audience.  However, he could've stop short of the 'stache

I agree, confidence has played a part, It MUST be mind-blowing for Jim to comprehend what is going on with this band at this point in time.  I know you have been following the band since before Jim discovered reverb and lamb chop's.

I also have to wonder if in a perfect world he'd still be belting out the opening lines to AT DAWN behind a wall of hair in a place like The Planetarium.  In which case I would have probably never heard of them.

It's EVOLUTION BABY?

Yeah in this pic Jim seems to look a bit like Jewish dude Matisyahu:

i think that him cutting his hair is a sign. A subliminal message. That when it grows back to its regular length is when the new album will come out.  Hair grows on an average 1/2'' to 3/4'' per month.

When I was in the army I had to keep it between 3-4 inches, but now it's 24+ inches and I have no intention of cutting it  :)

Haha, actually I don't really know. Suppose I got lost for a while or something. :P Been busy with keeping up with things and then never had the energy to check this place regularly anymore. Which is sad, I know. I will give it another shot now though I'm not promising anything cause there are so much happening in my life right now. If someone wanna chat and have also falling for the facebook trap you can add me and talk to me there aswell. ;)

I miss his hair, but not as much as I miss mine.  Getting older sucks!
