So...I graduate from college next semester with a General Business degree from Miami University of Ohio. ( Great business school. ) I was wondering if any of you kentucky locals had any advice on places I should look for employment...preferably around Lexington, but I'm not going to be picky. My gf is moving closer to home, from florida, to kentucky so thats where I will probably end up. Any help is appreciated!
Hey congrats with your graduation!
Considering the reactions, Kentucky has not many jobs to offer.
Good bumping, lfish. I'm sure some advice will be along soon.

Just wait for the pubs to shut. Never fails.
Word.
What would we do without greggy.
;D
I tried it for 20 years. It was no fun at all ;)
Who else would I talk rat shit with?
whhheeeeee heeee.
Hey, let me find the Louisville stats thread - there's some info there. Somebody said that there are loads of jobs. Hold on...
Okay, here it is: http://www.mymorningjacket.com/cgi/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=offtopic;action=display;num=1104156328;start=15
Except it's about Louisville, and not Lexington. But it might help... maybe?
(There's more stuff on the 1st page of that thread, too. Again, though, more Louisville-based.)
Wow, you just started your day and you helped already somebody EC.
Keep going like that.
heh. I'll try.
Oh, speaking of helping, I'm sure you all already know this, but if you go to google.com (or a lot of places), it gives you lists of places that you can help out with the tsunami tragedy. Just in case anybody didn't know that and were wondering about ways to help.
(on edit: Just noticed they don't seem to have a link for Doctors Without Borders, so here it is: http://www.msf.org/)

At 47, I finally found my true vocation....
Word.
Ah yes, discussions of rat shit. The great philosophical implications of which are known to inject great silliness into the threads of a more serious nature.
It has been said that Socrates, on his deathbed, told Plato that "whatever [he] does, to please remember the rat shit theory."
Plato, however, drunk tank that he was, totally forget, and ended up talking about suns and dark places and Utopias instead.
EC, I used to suspect you were as daft as us, but now I'm sure :D
Let it never be disputed again!
I AM AS DAFT AS DITH AND GREGGY!
Welcome! ;D
Yeah! Wicked! Thank you!
yo, Louisville is the hot spot for jobs, don't know much bout Lexington and jobs but there's a plethora of stuff going on here...what's your interests? what kind of businesses are you interested in? do you have a particular attachment to lexington (vicinity of I-75? :))
I hear Kopilot is hiring. :D

Wow, the lack of understanding of how personal that is to unnamed individuals is just astounding.
Sorry to offend, John. Just trying to lighten it up.
hey, it's all good but I'm just disturbed that folks just don't get it about this. It is NOT funny to some people who find this too personal and offensive.
So to turn the tables, is it that the children can't distinquish what is and isn't offensive? Or am I too grown up to find this funny...
I thought kopilot was a cool shop in Louisville that's all. I know it's been mentioned in the "other thread" but don't understand all of that. It would be funny if Katkillad ended up working for Danny. No disrespect meant to anybody, named or unnamed.
Okay,
Finally I got the picture. Now that I know what Kopilot is ...(guess I'm not such a die hard like you are john)
If you now that, then I can imagine that some people feel offended by that one sentence.
Big Bird is definitely asexual. It is like that on purpose, but Burt and Ernie are definitely gay. The Cookie Monster seems like a drug fiend, Oscar has prostate trouble and permanent constipation, and the Count is definitely dealing.
WORD! UP!
1) You need to make that into a song. You simply must. (Not Word Up, that is already a song. A song that you can dance to on a special rug that lights up where you're supposed to step.)
2) You are wrong about Big Bird. I cannot understand why anyone thinks that he is asexual...
3) Hm. I was trying to think of the girl puppets, and I was going to call one of them the Neighbourhood Block Whore, but I can't think of any girl puppets... Maybe it'll have to be Maria?
(ooooooh, that felt wrong.)

Hah, so i checked this thread after I got back from Florida and found no responses...decided to check back and saw tons. Sorry I wasn't around to participate.
I would be interested in Louisville as well. I'm not 100% sure what i'm looking for at the moment. I had an internship for a huge insurance firm ( Cincinnati Financial ) that I liked, but was boring at the end of ever month because there was nothing to do. So that made me switch from an accounting degree to General Business.
I think I just got an internship at TQL, which is a logistics business in cincinnati. There is also a branch in West Virginia i may look into once I am finished.
So, i'm not really picky. Something that is business related and pays reasonable. Maybe something in a corporate office. I haven't done any real research just yet, figured i would ask and see if anyone had any names to throw out.
just a smattering of company names here:
-Humana: healthcare, health insurance
-UPS: Big Brown
-Anthem: same as Humana
-Ford
-massive nonprofit arts organizations, like a dozen
-huge industrial park, 33,000 employees
-National City Bank's headquarters
don't know what your primary interest is, but these are just the big ones that I know about. check em out.
louisville is cool for other reasons, namely mild climate (with the notable exception of that storm at xmas), low taxes, and its totally laid back vibe.
QuoteHumana: healthcare, health insurance
THAT'S what the new play festival is named after? A healthcare company?
Huh.
John, what's the weather like in Louisville today? And what's it like in February?
For example, in Toronto, it's dark and snowy and probably about -5 degrees.
strangely, it's 64 F today and cloudy. unusually warm day for winter here, but it's not like northern states at all here in the winter. no 4 months of frozen ground and snow everywhere...
and yes, the Humana festival is named for the Humana group of companies, or rather their charitable arm for arts support. the arts are just huge here, lots of galleries, lots of performing arts centers...
Okay (roughly doing conversion in my head) 64 is about, ah, 12 degrees, I think. Wow! Nice!
yup, that sounds about right...every day I spent in Montreal it was a struggle to express how cold it was to everyone else back home.
damn I miss it there. two weeks there, and I got hooked!
so I got lost here somewhere: what is so offensive about the name of Danny's toy store?

Thanks for the info, maybe just for fun i'll keep the thread updated at places I apply to. My gf is coming in this weekend and we might go to Hebron to check out some schools she may apply to.
It's really warm here today as well. Crazy weather. I'm wearing sandals in winter.
It's warmish in Toronto as well... Everybody's recyling, right?
