Alright you know what to do.

It's a tie. 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' and 'Rust Never Sleeps'.
Fav Neil Song- Thrasher*
not a true "album" but I think "Decade" is his most complete self portrait
in a way, i feel as though i am being forced to choose my favorite child.
i really love comes a time. it is so gentle and wonderful. i just listened to it today while making dinner and it was so relaxing. i also have somewhat of a soft spot for silver and gold.
:)
yeh dude def the next two in line. i love silver and gold. buffalo springfield again man!!!
Harvest. For sure.
A close second is Harvest Moon because my Mom bought it and used to play it in the car. All. the. time.
Actually, it's a tie for second. greendale has a lot of special meaning for me, too.
But Harvest just is what it is, which is plain terrific. :)
Hm. My Dad used to play the unplugged album a lot. So I guess that one is in there, too.
I mean, quite honestly, any Neil Young record is going to make me happy. (And I mean even the one that we're not supposed to talk about.) Are we allowed to pick Buffalo Springfield or CSNY? They're in there, too. Does it have to be the solo stuff or the stuff with Crazy Horse?
All of them. But Harvest first.
I'll take Rust, please.
Wordawg.
Hey harri, you're really into posting pictures of yourself, right? Well, you're sexier then Meg, so I don't mind... :)
For me it's definitely On the beach.
I also have a very rare record of neil young (or so I think)
Neil young & the shocking pinks (Hilarious album)
& a way-to-go cover

I'll have to say Harvest. SOO many good songs. Silver and Gold is an obvious choice. I also liked Greendale a whole lot...good concept album.
Quoteyeh dude def the next two in line. i love silver and gold. buffalo springfield again man!!!
right on my friend.
Everybody's Rockin is not very rare. Practically every record stor in town hasw is cause no one will buy it.
Not a huge Neil Young fan but if I had to pick it would be Harvest. Anyone get his album Trans when he sings through a sythnesizer. You would think that is the last thing he would to but by the same token was willing to change it up.
D.
After the Goldrush and Tonight's the Night, no contest.
After the Goldrush
Live Rust
It's easier to tell you his worst albums(LOW,ARC,JTTP,AND ER)....but my fav will always be Tonight's the Night.
Rust Never Sleeps
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Ragged Glory
Greendale
Time Fades Away...
any of these five are a close second on my list...subject to change with my mood.

Hey!
No, it's true, you're right. But everybody looks really sexy with Neil records in their hands! ;)
hoo boy ::)
next to Decade I'd take Harvest or After the Gold Rush

Okay here in Europe it's very rare 'cause most european music stores noticed that all record stores in the states couldn't sell their copies ;)
Two rare NY albums are his debut album(1st pressing, the one WITHOUT his name on the cover)and the 1st pressing of Trans(it has the song "If you got love" listed on the back cover but the song is not on the album)2nd pressings have a sticker that acknowledges it's absence.
And of course TFA and JTTP are sought after cause they have not been released on CD.If you would like to see TFA released on CD,then go to this link and sign the petition:

He's the greatest for sure! I won't just name one!
My Essentials
-Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
Crazy Horse with Danny Whitten, the title track, Cinnamon Girl Down By The River, Cowgirl...MMM. Neil wrote Cowgirl In The Sand and Down By The River on the same day!
-After The Gold Rush
Tell Me Why, Don't Let It Bring You Down...
accesible, great first buy tied with Harvest or Decade.
-Harvest
Everybody knows this one...
-Tonight's The Night
Recorded after the overdoses of Danny Whitten And roadie Bruce Berry
Misery, drugs tequila and rock and roll; my personal favourite, includes one of the most heart-breaking songs ever written, Mellow My Mind.
-On The Beach
Maybe just as good as Tonight's The Night
If you can write Ambulance Blues, you are cool, very cool.
-Zuma
One of the greatest Rock and roll records of all time.
10 brilliant songs, with Cortez The Killer, Barstool Blues
and the beautiful closer Through My Sails with CSN.
-Decade
Very fine compilation, but it's worth buying these records seperately.
-Rust Never Sleeps
Acoustic/Electric masterpiece. My My Hey Hey!
After these: Weld, Freedom, Comes a Time, Ragged Glory, Time Fades Away (If you can find it!)
Essential Bootleg: Neil Young at the Bottom Line '74
Neil solo, very intimate and talkative, emotional and funny performance.
After these, the rest...
Agree/disagree?
QuoteNeil wrote Cowgirl In The Sand and Down By The River on the same day!
Holy shit, really?
Woah. Neil.
In the liner notes on "Decade" he writes that he wrote Cowgirl and River in the same day, lying in bed with 103' fever.
EC,I can't argue with your choices. It's all one song.
BTW,Neil was rumored to be in the studio lately....and his website is changing...there ia an "Archive" room....no dates or anything,it just says NYA....so maybe we are gonna finally get that box set he has promised for years.
Yep, while he was in bed with the fever!
That archives project has been postponed for years and years now, I don't expect it to be released soon.
