Great article in Crawdaddy magazine! Now this is a well thought out, insightful article! (Also, very ironic after the recent comments from Mr. Ego.)

Yeah, great post.
I think it does speak to the whole Dave Berman deal, in a really interesting way.

That article broke it down nicely.
I would be curious to hear Young's thoughts on JJ & MMJ.
great article, thanks for posting it.
That was a fantastic article. Great imagery. And I do agree that those two believe in music's power more than your average frontman, much more.
great article--i've always thought of phil spector when i've listened to MMJ
wonderful
Good article, although Neil's lyrics are in a different class all-together. It's a little lazy to say Young collided folk with grunge, since grunge is a 90's term. It's like calling The Grateful Dead or The Allman Brothers "jam bands". Still, it's high praise to compare anyone with Neil, but MMJ have earned it.
Indeed a great read. I agree that Jim often considers music a higher form of communication than words. But when he wants to, he can really write lyrics that both break hearts and stimulate the mind. Cases in point: "I Needed It Most", "Wordless Chorus", "Steam Engine", "Smokin from Shootin", and "I Will Be There When You Die".

I agree, not to mention Jim has the ability to sell some of his less-than-stellar lyrics too, which is a lot tougher to do than it sounds.

It really does. I have a hard time with people I commune with who just don't get MMJ. I've forwarded this article to them. I think this guy really puts it into perspective in a way that I wish I could have. A nice job he's done.
most excellent write up! thank you!!
