Title: Name/Avatar Origins
Post by: primushead on Sep 28, 2005, 10:49 AM
There are some very interesting names on the board, and I was just wondering how everyone came up with them.  Mine's kinda boring though :-/

I chose primushead by default.  I used to go with oysterhead at one point, but it was always taken when i went to register...so i figured, "what the hell" and just went with primushead.  To be honest, I want to change the name...but, what the hell.

I just put the U2 avatar on in preparation for seeing them in atlanta (sorry ya'll, u2 is my true guilty pleasure).

Anyone else?

one time someone reffered to me as a specialist of Madden Football games, the name stuck somewhat, and it's also an Interpol song title.

my avatar is Omar A Rodriguez-Lopez(sp?) and i chose that because he is an amazing guitar player and a future rock god.

EC means whatever you want it to.  (It is short for something, but the truth is way less interesting than what you could come up with.)

My picture at present is from a trip I was on in June. :)

name: HOW DO YOU KNOW, i love that song and i love the line involving cake. it's always stood out to me for some reason.

avatar: smoking monkey, which i believe to be the ultimate form of comedy. it used to be more accepted, now it's sort of politically incorrect. however, i really don't think it gets funnier than a monkey with a cig.

Ha, we discussed that monkey here before. strangely he was offering his cigs to the other monkeys too.

I picked doctorinthehouse because I love Phone Went West (unlike the band, it seems  :'(). It has had a sort of 'our song' status since we saw it performed live. I joined the forum the next day.

well, it started out as Eiseyrokker, which was my instant messenger handle that i come up with in 8th frade, because i was a metallica whore, and wanted to sound badass.

But then I just shortened it to Eisey, because that's a little more personal.

The icon is the mullet because it is.

"Rock and Roll's Most Prestigious Haircut"

Yeah. I'm thinkin of changin my screename again to tomEisenbraun, because that's my name, and I just switched my AOL instant messenger to that.

I saw Les a few years ago at Tremont in Charlotte and people kept yelling 'primus sucks' (keep it mind it was a frog brigade show) and he got super pissed and yelled at a guy to his face for saying that.  It was pretty entertaining.

Eisey,
Did you get the mullet man from an Ernie Ball ad, Looks identical if not. My claim to fame is bringing the mullet to Westville OK. in the 4th grade.

rat's prayer is a song by the soft boys, robyn hitchcock's first band, but that might not tell you anything at all.  my avatar at the moment is dan bern, and thats his clever little explanation of how we're here now just below.  check out his song 'no missing link' for more info.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

hehe... I thought you sprayed rats.

 :-/

My handle comes from the Simpsons as most of you probably know already. I ask a bunch of stupid questions all the time and a buddy called me lil' wiggum one time and it stuck. I used to use lilwiggum, but I switched names one time back in the day when I was using AOL, so I went with olwiggum and just use it for everything these days 'cause it's easier to keep up with one name as opposed to 1,000.

My avatar is Space Ghost, because he rules even though I haven't watched it in forever.

That's so funny - I really did think you were a big Primus fan!

I think I posted this before but here goes:

My name in Japanese is pronounced An Do Ryu. I love Chinese & Japanese dragons.
Ryu means dragon in Japanese so my best friend when I first came out here, an elderly gentleman by the name of Mr. Takahasi (kind of like my Mr. Miyagi!) gave me the nickname.

Picture is from the 68' Special.

I remember noticing it when I first started lurking & thinking man, that dude is rocking a mullet!!!

I was given the name Jennifer at birth. I'll most likely die with this name. Unless, of course, I become a transexual and legally change my name to Ray N. Carnation.

My avatar is Can's album cover for Ege Bamyasi.

Well, I think it's from the Smokey mountains when we took the Blue Ridge Parkway, and had to stop at EVERY single stop place to look at the scenery.  Now, I believe this is somewhere close to Grandfather mountain.

But it could also be close to the KOA we stayed in on a twilight drive.

But I'm pretty sure my first answer is correct. :)

It was a beautiful, albeit scary (Jen driving + misty roads = terror) drive.

Tundra is just an old nickname, from when I was a kid.  It sounds like my last name, kind of.

My avatar is Zoot, the sax player for the Electric Mayhem.  I used to think he was the epitome of cool, back when the Muppets were on. (Not that I consider myself the epitome of cool.)

But I change the pic pretty often, I think.

My Avatar is a Hammond B3.  Why? I don't know. just thought it looked cool.

The lights were incredible, they get more ambitious with every tour.  The set was very solid, and they even did a bit of a rehash of the ZooTV tour so that was very cool (I love Achtung Baby) playing a couple songs in a row in that style.  They played for almost 2 1/2 hours.  Its was fantastic.  I always love Bullit the Blue Sky and Edge did a killer solo in it so I'd have to go with that for a favourite song but its very hard to pick with U2.
Hope you have as good a time in Atlanta.

Hey everone, I'm new to the board.

I've been using the name Jaimoe for 5 years now on the music website Jambands.ca ( Canadian jamband website ). I chose Jaimoe because I love the Allmans, but more specifically, back when I chose his name, I noticed that a troubling number of people associated with Jambands.ca didn't know many of the members of the Allman Brothers ( outside of Greg, Duane, Dickey, Warren and Derek Trucks ). This of course, was/is inexcusable.

My avatar is a picture of my guitar, a G&L ASAT Classic - a Leo Fender/George Fullerton made guitar, and direct rival of a Fender Telecaster.
