I'll do a "definitive" list when I wake up. Let's just say it won't include Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion or Bryan Adams... or that fucking David Foster.

I'm reeling from Syracuse not getting into the NCAA tournament, so here's a few off the top of my head (until I recover) - I won't include some obvious Canucks from hockey like Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe and music like Loverboy or Anne Murray, and I don't care for Pamela Anderson, so I'll leave her off too:

Basketball (James Naismith was Canadian)
Hockey
Insulin
The United Nations
Telephone (Alexander Graham Bell lived in Canada for most of his life)
Oscar Peterson
Glen Gould
The Group Of Seven (painters)
Frank Gehry (the most revered living architect)
Marshall McLuhan
Northrop Frye (literary great)
Margaret Atwood
Mordecai Richler
Michael Ondaatje (author: English Patient, Coming Through Slaughter)
Robertson Davies
W.P. Kinsella
Lucey Maud Montgomery
Arcade Fire
IMAX
Greenpeace
The Guess Who
Gordon Lightfoot
Lenny Breau (jazz guitar great)
The Band
Sarah McLachlan
Guy Lombardo
Paul Anka
David Cronenberg
Norman Jewison
John Kenneth Galbraith
SCTV
Raymond Burr
Leslie Nielsen
Mary Pickford
Matthew Perry
Donald and Keifer Sutherland
Christopher Plummer
Keanu Reeves
Alex Trebek
Shania Twain
k.d. lang
Linda Evangelista (supermodel)
Shalom Harlow (supermodel)
James Cameron (director)
Cirque de Soleil
Dennis Doherty (Mamas & The Papas)
Atom Agoyan (director)
Yousuph Karsh (photograpy great)
Monty Hall
Rich Little
Lorne Greene (Bonanza)
William Shatner
James Doohan
Louis B. Mayer
Terry Fox (Marathon of Hope runner and cancer activist)
Dr. Norman Bethune
Joni Mitchell
Phil Hartman
Peter Jennings
Michael J. Fox
Mike Myers
John Candy
Martin Short
Catherine O'Hara
Eugene Levy
Rick Moranis
Dave Thomas
Dan Aykroyd
Lorne Michaels

Steve Nash
Owen Hargreaves (soccer)
Jonathan de Guzmán (soccer)
Jason Bay (baseball)

That's enough for now!

Oh yeah, your welcome!!!

French fries, cheese curds and gravy.  The most delicious combination ever.

is that served everywhere? how popular is it? do they serve at like say a mcdonalds?

Quoteis that served everywhere? how popular is it? do they serve at like say a mcdonalds?
It's very popular, and served nearly everywhere.  Nearly every mom and pop restaurant that serves french fries serves poutine.  Most fast-food chains sell it, except McDonald's.  Burger King, KFC, and A&W all sell it.  Some places it's not very good, but when it's good, it's great.

There's this one restaurant about 10 minutes from here that makes it like lasagna, so it's baked in an oven.  Absolutely mind-blowing delicious.  Pretty much my favourite meal to eat anywhere.

I'm kicking myself for not adding:

Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy, Sideways)
Molly Parker (Deadwood)
Liona Boyd (classical guitarist)
Morley Safer (60 Minutes)
Michael Bublé
Ian & Sylvia Tyson
Hank Snow

Note: The closer you get to Quebec, the better the poutine.

You can make it yourself. Get some mozerella cheese curds (some restaurants use grated mozerella), beef or chicken gravy (I like both, but beef is more common) and french fries - I'd fry them, but baked taste pretty good - regular cut - none of those fucking coated fries either.

Add the cheese first (after the fries are done), then pour the gravy on top. Add pepper if you want. Enjoy.
