oh man wonder what merriweather's will look like
Fingers crossed for an Emek at the SB Bowl.
Do you think that Status Serigraph/MMJ.com will resell the Milwaukee poster? I didn't buy any merch until after the show since I was in the pit and they sold out. :'(
Justin will definitely have some on his site. I just asked him if he had any idea when that might be, I'll update this posting after I hear back from him. Hopefully those who missed it at the show can grab one from him.
Chicago 6/17/11 Brammer

brammer is freaking amazing
sweet jesus that is nice. i'm still trying to find a brammer z/t5.
The art for the Chicago show was really nice.
The quality of the poster, however, was very disappointing. Printed on card stock or something. Not signed. Not numbered.
First time I passed on purchasing an MMJ show poster.

if you frame it and hang it up, then what's the difference if it's signed and numbered?

i have way more posters than i could ever find places to hang up around here, its a completist/collectors thing. I agree the quality of the poster was whack. also, they didn't sell out of them so i have a feeling there is no real run amount that matters

Just a personal thing. I did not think it was frameable/hangable quality. The posters from the 2008 Chicago show (nights one and two) on the other hand are two of my favorites. Screen-printed on quality paper. Awesome.
The quality was just not there this time around.
Can anyone speak to the quality of the Milwaukee poster? I missed out on buying one, but from afar it appeared that it was a traditional paper poster rather than the heavy duty poster that we are used to seeing. I was also bummed that they didn't have the "bracelet system" in place this tour. The merch guy had no idea what that even was.
Amazing!! Thanks for posting the image. [

fair enough! different strokes I guess! I just think it looks cool and plan on putting it in a frame and hanging it up. I don't care how rare it is or if it's signed. as far as the paper quality goes it will be safe in a frame so no worries there
just checking to make sure they have tubes for the posters as well...
also, anyone know who's doing the Oakland Fox theater poster?

That was another thing... no tubes in Chicago (although that is fairly common). If I had really liked the quality of the poster, I would have got one, even without a tube, and just been really careful. Probably left it with my daughter and her husband who had box seats.
You might want to consider bringing your own tube, to be safe.
[Edit: Regarding the paper quality: this one just felt like a mass-printed poster - nothing art-like about it. Kind of a semi-glossy lithograph. Very much UNLIKE the previous posters I have purchased at MMJ shows or in the secondary market, where you can feel the love that went into making the poster.]
Hey guys, I will have some copies of the Milwaukee poster up on my site this week. Im thinking Wednesday at a random time. Check back then!
http://www.statusserigraph.com (http://www.statusserigraph.com)
Can someone tell me if the Z t5 bramer poster was screenprint? or the previous Chicago one he did?. Looking at pictures neither looks to be screen printed. Maybe the no screen print has something to do with the artist.
I for one thought the card stock was of good quality. Jeez, could hardly roll that thing up. The design is amazing ImO. Has a great looking eye, (he has done eye art in the past), the heavenly rainbow, (as Jim put it), great color, and graphics all around.
As far as LE, Jason's other two he did for the band were very limited. I picked mine up early, as soon as I got there and they had a decent stack, went to get a drink right before encore and there were only a handful that I could see, they even had them rolled and banded. As I was leaving the show I didn't see any, not even the ones hanging on display.
Maybe there were some still there but if so, I didn't see them.
I prefer the screen print posters as they have more of a retro art feel to them. OTOH, I am loving the color and graphics of this one, that would be hard to accomplish with a screen print.

Neither were screenprints= that's not Brammer's thing. Each was a lithograph of an original piece of art.

I think that's what I also like about the screen prints as opposed to the more standard lithograph print offered in Chicago. It's the "hand-made" quality of the screen prints that has made MMJ posters special in the past, IMO.

The Milwaukee poster is screen printed on 100# Cougar Natural cover stock paper. 3-color screen print with one of those being metallic gold ink. i think its as nice a screenprint as you'll find out there ;)

The posters did sell out at the Chicago show...I know since I got the last one. This was about 15 mins before MMJ arrived on stage. After the show I did not see any posters on display on the merch tables.

yep, absolutely right. I ran to the bathroom about 15 minutes before the show and when i passed the merch table they were all gone. they did for sure sell out.
i thought i saw them when i was walking out, but if you got the last one i can't argue that knowledge. knowing brammer doesn't screen print makes me lass anxious about the quality. i guess its because he uses so much color and detail? its a great looking poster either way, i just love the feeling of screen printed posters
Yeah, that kind of photo realistic like art would not not work as a screen-print. I don't have any real issue with Brammer's work. It just doesn't grab me like the more organic art on posters past.
Check out "all" of MMJ's past concert posters here:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/georgbd/72239.jpg) [Was lucky to be able to snag one of these beauts!]
see, it's all opinion, but i didn't care for the chicago theatre 08 ones. The monsters of folk one is cool, but the rest didn't stand out to me the way the Auditorium Theater one did

I agree 100%. What's important to me is (1) whether the image grabs me and (2) the quality of the execution (printing and paper quality).
The images I like, others might not, and so on.
That's what makes the world such an interesting place.

Best of luck pal! Just keep your eye out and I'm sure you'll be able to snag them eventually. Luckily I attended both shows. Although the owl poster wasn't actually for sale at the venue I don't think . . .

Good idea on the favorite posters thread. I also think it would be fun to compare with fellow Jacketeer's collections.... perhaps name a King or Queen of MMJ poster addiction. I have way more posters than wall space. I hope I am not the only one with this problem.

how does the artist commission process work for show posters like this? personal relationship with the band?

From what I can gather it seems like every band/tour/artist/promoter has a different process for contracting/creating/printing/selling/promoting gigposter artwork. I think a lot of times a band will contact an artist directly, & sometimes it works in reverse. Some artists are printers & designers, whereas some artists choose to focus only on the design aspect and will subcontract the printing phase to someone else. Many occasions you will see multiple posters for a single event...perhaps one commissioned by the band and one commissioned by the venue and/or promoter. It just doesn't really seem that there is a 'one size fits all' method for producing & selling concert posters.

oh sorry, all 4. i forgot about that amazing bonnaroo poster.
There are festival posters for specific bands, such as the bonnaroo pictured above or Burwell's famous 08 Bonnaroo. There are also general festival posters that I try to also collect if MMJ is mentioned by name. By that measure there are also 4 more - 2 hangout and 2 wakarusa.
If you expand the list to all 2011 MMJ posters, we're up to 12. Roll Call, 4/17 Lexington, 5 festival posters, Circuital Unstaged premiere, and the 4 june shows. I'd agree that so far the quality is very high this year.
been a long time since i chimed in here. thanks for all of the nice nice comments etc, of course. working for MMJ is always a pleasure. to answer a question above, the band contacts artists directly and asks them about doing posters for shows or specific dates. some times we can choose a date and sometimes that has been done for us. ideally i would love to do a local show like Edgefield here in Portland, but alas, not this time.
once upon a time i bought a Darla split 7" featuring The Photon Band, Those Bastard Souls, both of whom I loved, and a band I hadn't heard of called My Morning Jacket and was blown away by that single. I wrote an email, back in the fledgling days of email, and said how much I liked that recording and a fellow named Jim wrote back to me and thus started a 'relationship' with the band that carried through the first four or five posters, the Z album art contribution, and on and on. The organization has gotten bigger and more complex, but I am happy to be contributing to the efforts even after all this time and have had lots of pleasant interactions with the band over the years. a solid bunch of kids made good.

For everyone interested in things related directly or indirectly to posters and mmj posters, there will be a selection of things in a new gallery show in Portland, which will also be available for viewing and 'purchase' online, put on by the good fellow Jason Goodfoot, he who curates and creates The Art of Musical Maintenance show here in P-Town each year.
Send a note to him at jbrown @ thegoodfoot . com and ask for information regarding the show, any announcements, or to be alerted when the show will be active. Original art, sketches, prints etc... will be featured covering the whole of our 'poster career' thus far.
See the NEWS area of our website for a bit more information to read.
Sorry to make this poster forum a huckster event, but some folk might be interested. The mod can delete this, of course, if it crosses content boundaries.

They also had for sale a poster from the Minneapolis show, they said it was leftovers because it was raining there or something - its a nice looking one too, i didnt get that one - has a Narwhal, i think or a horned dolphin- i've never seen that poster before, it is by Randy Fung :

glad i brought a tube. picked up 41/165 or so.
I got there around 8:30 and they were sold out.
Anyone else try to snag a burwell right at 3:00 (est) when they went on sale today? I had it in my cart then when I clicked confirm on my pay pal account it told me I couldn't buy it. I am not a happy boy right now
edit: still dont get one, but burwell is such a nice dude i can't even be mad
I was lucky. Got one. Probably my favorite MMJ poster ever. Wish it was for the Edgefield show. Amazing work, Guy.
I managed to snag one as well, lucky as they were gone in a flash.

The most recent Reno is on eBay for 150$!!! That can't really be how much its worth... unless t5 shot reno MMJ prints up in value.
Don't get me wrong its a beautiful print, but I haven't seen a Reno go for more than 60$ (and that was me :) )

That would be a huge price for Reno. Some guy offered me $130 for my TTF T5 print right outside of the venue after the show ;D
first prints on Ebay after a show always go for more, or at least sellers try to, then taper off. Just the nature of the game.

Met someone at the bus stop afterwards with this poster, they said that it was a small printing... and only some people got it? Someone they knew worked for the production co. and that's how they got it. I'm not sure on the whole deets.
idk I like the nesting dolls one better (and I got it)
I would love any more info on this if anyone discovers anything....

This is the best I could do, sorry for the size. I admit, not my favorite. Was this a Halloween show? Or is this reference to Black Metal?

I agree, it has some cool elements actually. I think if on different color paper it'd be pretty cool... the extra whitespace just kills it a bit for me. As for the extra seattle poster (newspaper), i'm not really digging that... too much open space and not really enough text or anything to really draw your eye in.

Good lord, the show posters have really gone downhill since L.A.
do we know who the artist is?
since LA haven't there only been 2 posters. I bet after this leg they'll start picking back up. there's some shows that just have to have epic posters. Red Rock and MPP come to mind.
i'm kinda digging on the santa barbara one.

That one I do not. It is in my spreadsheet and on my radar, and I would love it for sure but never seen it surface anywhere. As far as I know there are only a dozen or so pre-02 posters so it's for sure a great collectors item. Of course this is well before I was following them, so there may be more lost to time....

I love his work, but if true, that's kind of lame, imo. I could see waiting til all 15 posters sold,or to make sure all the funds cleared, but why make these buyers wait for people to buy some of his other stuff?
Was there any notice of a wait to be shipped? If not, that's not a cool way to treat people who enjoy and spend money on his work, imo.

wall space and $$ limit me to only buying posters from the shows i attend but both of these are sweet.

Its a nice departure from everything else. I dig the colors, kind of loose drawing, and the lettering is unique and yet very cool. Looks shitty in a black frame, though. Not sure about silver or wood. Any thoughts?
Mine will probably go up in black because at the time thats all I own for now. I think silver might make it look really nice.

The only poster I got at a show so far this year was Montreal and I brought a tube. I was also able to leave the theater and drop it off in my hotel room, then resume my spot one back from the rail, not a normal situation.

awesome. thank you!

Oh my God... that Burwell... I can't... it's just so... wow.
Here it is, a bit clearer (courtesy CC Baxter)
I like that they've been putting up the show posters on the setlist pages in the archive. I wanted to go back and look at older ones but they weren't up, it would be very time consuming to go back and put them in, but with a group effort it could be done.
wow.
was there a poster for lolla? indianapolis?
That's a strange poster. I don't love it, but I think it would look nice hung up and framed. Artist?
I don't know if I just feel this wy because I was there to get one, but the red rocks burwell is one of my favorite posters ever. Only the T5 at dawn, RCMH, and Spusta MMJ LA posters are better jacket posters IMO. I honestly think the burwell Portland 04 is one of my least favorite of the "elite posters".
very different! i like it a lot.
this poster is very cool in person, high quality silkscreen. One of the few that would look nice autographed IMO. Plenty of room for sharpie ink without defacing the artwork.
Numbered only to 100! wish I knew who the artist was.
poster is by Kiersten Essenpreis

I really hope promo posters we bought are high quality because I just bought 3 okay silk screen versions for 10$ total from the posters scene store in Boulder. Seeing it in real life... Not really worth 40$. They had the burwell for 200$ (oof)
Do Burwell posters only cost $30 at the show?
Yes sir
Thanks CC!

Columbus poster
(http://www.gigposters.com/posters/144459.jpg)
Going to the Columbia Maryland show this coming Friday if anyone wants a poster? Let me know as i will do my best to get on line early, didn't get the soundcheck pass so am not sure if the merch table will sell the posters ahead of time? Does anyone know if the merch table waits until the show is open to the whole public or do they sell them to people who are in there for the soundcheck? Sure each venue is different but if anyone could let me know that would be greatly appreciated.
P.M. or comment back on this board if you would like a poster, will do my best to try to get those who what a poster but please understand if i am able to pick one up for you that you must pay me the amount for the cost of the poster/ pretty much goes without saying. So excited for the show!!!
Better yet email me as i check my email most often, like the fact of the time my last post came in, silly but it is fitting. ;)

really dig that
:0 I dig it. The lions fucking intimidate me.
Epic poster, if anything, it lacks a bit on the typographic side, but I get that the focus should go 100% to the illustrations.
Wow. I never buy posters to shows i dont go to, but that one.... I might have to pick up.
i like this one alot.

like you said, i'm sure each venue is different, but at columbus last night the merch table was just getting set up as the soundcheck ended. i asked the guy if he would sell a poster. he would, but only if we had $30 exactly, which we did. the venue folks asked us to keep moving, but i pleaded with them to just complete this transaction (the guy had to count all the poster first, so it took a little bit). they were cool enough to let us stay and buy it. unfortunately, i didn't think to ask for the lowest numbered poster! i got 36 out of 145.

Thanks for the heads up there blueslikehail. But i am going to the Maryland show this friday to address the comment just after mine, not sure who posted the picture of the Colombus Ohio show but i am going to the Maryland show this friday 8/12. If anyone would like the poster from this show that is not attending just email me or p.m me back on here. Better to email me as i check that most often.
Also a note for any other forum member looking for the T5 At Dawn Burwell i recently purchased the process prints for this show and have an extra one now cause i loved that it is a five color screenprint/ played at Terminal 5 and the fact that the band played all five of their albums that week. Believe some are in search of this poster and would like to keep it in the forum family. Going to post another thread so this is easier to see for those in search of this.
holy shit YOU got the process prints! those are so awesome, congrats!
oh and by the way guys, I did get the St. Louis poster long before they went on sale. I found the merch guy and struck up a conversation and he sold me 2. St. Louis was weird though, becaue the merch was sold in a different shop than the venue, that was already open. I was looking at other posters they had for sale from past shows and noticed him walk in with tons of boxes and a fold out table.

hey guys, i've got a merriweather poster to trade if anyone is interested. great show tonight!
Post the pic and I may have a burwell for ya
merriweather, by randy fung
(http://mymorningjacket.com/archive/images/posters/20110812.jpg)
Not my favorite but I really dig the font - it reminds me of GI Joe!
I'm not a huge fan. I think the simplicity of Fung's EU poster is one of the coolest things ever, but other than that I'm just not a big fan.

I bought the Merriweather poster and I'm not as excited about it today as much as I was last night. If anyone wants it, it's yours...face value. And possibly a little extra for shipping. PM me if you're interested.

I'm scared of getting the poster as an impulse purchase at the Boston show... I kind of want it but I -know- I wont ever get it framed and hanged.
I think I'll go for a shirt better. Good luck selling it, doesn't seem too hard to do it. ;)
If it's a good poster you can probably sell it ( to me ). Buy it

I should have bought 2...I'd upload a pic but my technology means are seriously lacking.
I didn't get it. It wasn't that cool. TBH I don't think anything'll top the lions one or the MMJ matryoshkas charaters.
That was a mistake. It was a Burwell which means it's going to be on eBay tomorrow for 300$. Not saying I scalp posters , just saying it's probably bad ass and valuable

Not that cool are you kidding???!!!
Hey! Don't judge my judgements!
That kind of illustration is not my thing, I like more simple, cleaner designs.
If I knew the value tho... my perception of cool would've changed perhaps ha.

Find that hard to believe that you got number 001/225 because Guy usually keeps the first five low numbers i thought, oh well that's awesome if you did cause i remember wanting the low numbers for the t5 posters and my friend was making fun of me but then come the last night for the EU Randy Fung he ended up getting number 1 of that edition so i said "want to trade" he quickly denied though. Congrads on the Burwell was hoping MPP would have been a Burwell but have an extra from that night if someone wants to trade a Burwell for the Fung, fingers crossed!
How much were the Burwell's at Boston? Loved the show so much on Friday i wanted to go to the Boston show cause i knew Guy was making another real soon!

I'm okay with that. Too much of a good thing can take away from the specialness. I'm actually shocked that he did 3. I thought after LA that was it. Then after RR I was sure there wouldn't be more. I was surprised at Boston. I got 2 of 3 so far though
I'm also shocked by the amount that Fung has done. I'm hoping for another Reno or better yet a Spusta.
And yes the posters are always 30$

I was hoping for a Reno for the Pittsburgh show since I figured we wouldn't get a Burwell. I don't know if I'll ever get a Burwell, since I made it a rule to only buy posters of shows I've attended. Reno's posters keep getting better and better, i have his Cleveland '06 and roll call posters.

Really like how Guy put the circuital arm on that piece. Nice to see the color scheme has changed.
My first show with a Burwell poster and I got #3, 4, 5, and 6.
I'm thinking Deathstick might have scored #2 and Spaced Cowboy has #1.
I did not buy extra posters to sell. These are going to myself and three fellow forum members.
Its tempting to flip a poster on eBay, but I hope everyone who went and wants one gets one. I don't have any extra, for those who've been asking, but keep an eye on Burwell's site (http://guyburwell.com/index.php), get on his mailing list, and fire off an email (guybur@mac.com) to him.
He's due to put some Red Rocks up for sale soon, too. I know for the LA Pantages poster, he used a middle-man website to handle the mad dash the second the went on sale. Anyone remember the site?

Believe it is Jason from Goodfoot art which is also the website, he has them there for $150 though, he had a big collection of Guy's artwork for sale last month and i think he still does have a bunch of original sketch works as well as many other posters. Most of the MMJ original sketches were all sold by the time i found out about it but he still has the original sketches for the Portland Edgefield '08 show. Mines already tubed but it's a Reno, with lyrics from YWFO worked in. The merch guy said it's Jims favorite of the tour. It's pretty cool
Hey e_wind if you were able to pick up an extra one of these could you send me a message to let me know either way.
And if anyone else might have picked up an extra one of these please let me know, thanks ahead of time.

Nice poster, "love them Georgia Peaches", as Skynyrd would say. Wish i was going to make the journey down there but off to work for me now. Hope the folks that are going enjoy their time as i am sure they will. Anyone predict a cover from a Skynyrd song or will they use that else where down there? I know the band (Skynyrd) are originally from Florida but maybe a cover of Georgia Peaches would be so fitting.

thanks johnny! i couldn't tell what it said in the corner, was trying to figure out who the artist was.
I put my order in today, they said they had 25 left.
Got my poster today! #82 out of 115. Thanks again johnny for pointing me in the right direction. It's definitely not one of my favorites from this tour but it has sentimental value for the fact that i was there. There's a lot of awesome posters that I'd like to have but I'm on a budget.
Is it ok to keep it in the tube for a year or so until I feel like paying to get it framed? I don't want it to get damaged.

Not the best idea to store the poster in the tube for a year but for a short time it is ok, however the longer it stays in the tube the longer it will take to flatten out. If space is your concern i would recommend purchasing a portfolio off of amazon . com, they have them there for around 30 or 40 dollars, think Johnny Yac had a link to it in one of these poster threads.

$45 w/shipping (definitely worth it; I use it to store and flatten)

Most places will give a bag, not a tube, but I can't speak for there. As far as the poster there's a good chance the design is by Mad Pixel. When I ordered some posters from them this summer I asked if they were doing any posters on this tour and he mentioned they were working on the Charlotte print. Some of their previous posters have been pretty cool so I'm looking forwards to seeing this one. Have a great show!
Newbie here to the board but not to MMJ and posters. I am looking forward to the Charlottesville,VA show on Wed.
Question..I am a native Alabamian and was wondering if anyone got a picture of the poster from last night's Tuscaloosa benefit show, where I can get one or the poster artist's name. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

His T5 #5 and Burlington 10 have solid black ink mighty heavy. I bought a leftover MPP 11 at Boston and it still stunk up the joint. :o

Yea that's exactly what it is, he does full bleeds of a black base on most of his posters or other full bleeds as the base color which cause the posters to smell extra strong, when i walked up to the merch table at MPP i could smell the ink and once it was in front of me i could tell it was a Fung. He does have some smelly posters for sure but i like the smell and my girl can't stand it, she says it reminds her of Montauk Daisies but i am not familiar with how those smell.

I think I must be addicted to the smell too... or maybe i just like Fungs but something made pick one up on impulse even though I wasn't at the show. I see what you mean about the death star but I thought it was one of those old fashioned diving bells especially with the diver & sharks around it. Also the longer I look at the red background the more it looks like the ocean floor. cool poster imho

I picked one up at MPP also, and agree with the "diving bell" as well. They used to have one off the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, and got to dive in one as a kid.
This is my 3rd Fung, (I have the other 2 johnny mentioned), and it's by far the smelliest! The only thing that helped was immediately framing it. At Boston two nights later they had some for sale, and you could still smell them while on line, even though they were in a glass case! ??? I do like it a lot though, just not crazy about the GI Joe-like font.

don't want to bum you out but I think this one will be very hard to find. According to Randy it was a smallish run and unlike most prints where the artist retains some to sell (that's how they earn their $$) Randy gave all his away in an effort to maximize proceeds for charity! what a guy, but if you didn't buy one at the show I think you are out of luck. Best bet is ebay or get lucky through here. maybe someone as you asked has an extra?
I do not have an extra, sorry.
At the show I said "damn this poster smells so strong" and my girlfriend acted like I just escaped the looney bin and all posters smell. Glad to know I'm not yet crazy.

They were selling the Riverbend one along with the Tuscaloosa one at Philly Tuesday night. We were one of the last at the merch table, and there were still some left. If they took the rest to Charlottesville and didn't sell them out,I'd check the store part of this site. That's where it seems the posters that didn't sell out end up.

I can confirm this also as i was about to be the last one shoed away from the merch table in philly before the workers allowed two other girls back in the venue to make a purchase. There still were some Randy Fung Tuscaloosa ones and Clinton Reno's Cincinnati poster with the Deer on it. Both could have also been sold at the Charlottesville show also but like mahg33ta has posted just above me is that one can be purchased from the artists website.
Like all the posters but I dig Jim's eyeball MPP poster the best!

I dig it too,(not as much as the Burwell's though) but damn!..... that thing is still stinkin' up my living room. ;) It helped a bunch putting it in a frame as soon as I got home. I had to put it on a corner wall by itself, away from where I usually hang em, and as far away from the kickin' back space as possible.
the indy poster was the worst smelling thing ive ever been around. and as someone who works in the printing industry, it isnt always the amount of ink or flood the artist uses, but the type of ink. some inks are protein based (i have a customer whos ink has goats milk in it... imagine how good that smells) and that is where the smell comes from. most of these protein based inks are soy protein, and that is why the smell is so similar from poster to poster.
My absolute favorite was Red Rocks. After that from shows I went to I like Cincinnatti Reno and Chicago Brammer.
Other shows: over all I LOVE BranJo's Montreal followed closely by Burwell Boston and Fung Bonnaroo. The LA Burwell is way awesome in real life. Real nice colors.

Other shows: over all I LOVE BranJo's Montreal followed closely by Burwell Boston and Fung Bonnaroo. The LA Burwell is way awesome in real life. Real nice colors.
I forgot the Bonnaroo and LA posters, both excellent.
I may have an extra MPP Fung ("Jim's eyeball") available for cost plus shipping (around $35-40) or trade. PM or email if interested.
My favorite is Alpharetta.
If I was going to buy a poster from a show I didn't attend it would be:

Hey guys, just put up Alpharetta and Kansas City in my store as well...thanks for the nice comments on the posters I did this run...really excited to do posters again for one of my favorite bands!

wow this poster rocks!
im shocked that the bonnaroo poster hasnt shown up ANYWHERE yet. I emailed fung and he said he didn't have any extra.
I think that the ones that incorporated the Circuital "eye" are pretty cool. I'm happy with the Burwell from the Boston show there is a lot going on in Burwell's work and my eyes keep moving around looking at the details. It will be framed very soon.

Me too...it's the only one i missed out on this tour and I regret it. As will my pocket book when they pop up for 250 smackers on ebay in a couple months.

Love the Boston print.. excited to have a Burwell for a hometown show.. except it doesn't say Boston on it! Why give Bank of America so much space? A few years from now it will be named something else anyways!

When the dust settles on this tour, this will definitely be the rarest (and most expensive) poster.

While I'm reminiscing, this gets my award for most disappointing poster of the tour. In person it looks cheap and uninteresting. That the artist sold them for $35/per is highway robbery.... worst purchase in a long time. Now they're all over ebay for $10-$15.
Yeah they're bogus, I bought two for 5$ total at a poster store in Boulder just after the show.

I've seen a lot of "bootleg" posters for Phish shows and some other bands on ebay - someone figures out that fanatical poster collectors have silly cash to drop and tries to cash in on it. They are often made after the show, not officially sanctioned by the band and are rarely worth anything.

That poster was commissioned by the venue, not the band, but it's an "official" poster.
Outside the YUM center, two very rough people were walking around selling posters. I asked to see them, and they were seriously some of the most awful looking cheap printed pieces of paper ever. When I said I was going to have to see what was inside, they got extremely offended. They kept calling me a "rule-follower" ;D ;D ;D. eventually I had to tell them how awful it was for them to leave me alone
Anyone make it to the Hang Out Music Festival in May? Was wondering if anyone picked up the festival poster? Not looking for it but just curious if anyone had picked one of them up, mahg33ta? Looks like a really great line-up as i would like to have seen many of those bands that were listed on the poster. There were like 20 bands that i would have like to have seen on this line-up, hope someone was able to make it to this festival.
a lot of us went... i wasn't thrilled about the poster I saw, but I'm sure there were more. I didn't buy one

The artist is Shawn Hileman, and seems to be a pretty cool guy. He answered my emails really quick and I decided to buy one. $20.00 + $10.00 shipping.

Must've been someone else, seems like this one's running about $80 to $100, based on a few recent sales/trades I'm aware of. I'd rather not get too specific, out of respect for this guy's privacy, but I made him the offer, he upped it $10, I said "Deal!"
That said, I've been tempted by a few Burwell's coming down in price, but I don't want to start buying to sell or trade and I have all of this year's Burwells. The extra MPP I had came from someone on eBay selling it along with a signed Cirucuital promo poster for $40! I couldn't resist that deal! Turned out the MPP came in handy not long after.

I'm working on getting all of the 2011 MMJ posters in Expresso Beans and have been adding a couple each day... I'm almost there.
By my count there are 44 MMJ-related posters this year.
Does anyone know who the Charlottesville 8/24 or Kahbang 8/13 artist is?

Expresso Beans doesn't indicate the run. I've noticed Randy doesn't seem to sign his prints, but most are numbered. It is one of my favorites.

I was surprised too as I've ordered a lot of posters and never had one get messed up shipping. Kind of sucks as it's a great poster, I think it actually looks better in person - love the YWFO quote and the grey paper is cool. I did email CR and he's going to see if fed-ex will pay for it so we'll see.
That sucks about your reno getting smashed it's an awesome print in person. I'm glad I picked it up.

im thinkin he will since he did the last MSG show, would make this night even more epic than its already shaping up to be!
Guy did MSG NYE
Guy did Radio City
Guy did T5 night 2
I think the odds are better than 50-50 we get Guy for MSG on 12/14.
And that would be a very good thing.

Love that they are giving Randy the support to produce a bunch of their posters this tour. Did the 'Roo this year, MPP, Minneapolis, Seattle, Tuscaloosa, and now the European tour one. Think this was good to have just one poster cause the posters scene in Europe isn't as big as it is here. Really glad that they are giving Randy some more work cause he seems to be a real genuine and nice guy from the communications i have had with him.

Agreed. He is one of the nicest artists I have met through my interest in MMJ and print collecting in general. He is always responsive, polite, and helpful. Plus he is a big fan of the band. His work has really seemed to progress in a positive direction over the past couple of years. I own several of his prints and they are all pretty stunning in person. Especially the Bonnaroo peacock. Go get em Randy.
I'm sorry, but is this guy high? I hope its none of you guys, but asking $400-900 for a band-signed Burwell Red Rocks seems a bit much.

In a way, I think the sigs take away from the value. If all I had was a Burwell poster, I'd have the guys sign my arm, maybe the back of the poster, maybe. It went a week without selling, then vanished. I figured he'd repost it with a lower starting bid, but I think this is higher. Again, I mean no disrespect to the owner of this print, just think its overpriced.

I hear that. If someone wants it badly enough and/or has the money, more power to them. I'm curious the circumstances. Did the seller get it signed, in which case it should have personal value. Did they win it in some contest? I think I was just wondering what folks thought of a band-signed Burwell.

I don't usually buy posters, mostly because I really don't need another thing to spend money on. However, I have really regretted not getting the blue peacock Fung poster from bonnaroo this year. I've looked everywhere for it and I finally found someone who had it for sale. I'm quite excited that I got it! I still regret not getting it when I saw it at 'roo; but frankly I just didn't want to haul it back to my car nor carry it around with me for the night. I've paid for that laziness, I suppose.
yeah that Roo fung is one of, if not the nicest poster from 2011

Yeah, I got that one up in a frame on the dining room wall in time for Thanksgiving. Lots of compliments on it. My 3-year old called it a blue turkey!
Its a tough one to find these days. Glad you snagged one, Fully!

I don't hear anyone clamoring for it, but in case someone is looking for the Kahbang poster - it's pretty rare (50 made) and for sale at:
http://www.statepier.com/store/products (http://www.statepier.com/store/products)
I'm curious did you ever figure out who "the artist" is and/or get this one uploaded to EB?
The artist's name is Pat Shaw and I have submitted to expressobeans with the other details and a pic.

That poster reminds me of Mega Man.
There were no tubes last night. Don't think they ever have them at MMJ shows unfortunately.

I'm a newbie here, and I'm just wondering where I might be able to find the 2011 Circuital Poster from the San Diego show last night. I completely airballed and didn't pick one up at the venue. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm actually not sure. Does anyone know? Was there a show specific poster for the San Diego show on Dec. 3? I just assumed there was.
Thanks
Does anybody know if there is a poster available to purchase for the June 28th show at Edgefield this year?
Would love to get my hands on one those babies if there is.

I'm reminded of Jim in his cowboy get-up from MMJ 2038, when he was the "sherriff". And of course there are those guns from the spring 2010 tour (though neither one in the poster has the silouette of a Duck Hunt gun).
Are those guns smokin from shootin? I dig!

That poster is awesome. That's SEC WALKIN himself!
Anyone have any artist info?
I'm a fan of status serigraph, so that's cool for Boca Raton. I know Mad Pixel did the Orlando print.

I noticed that too (I assume that the star is the capital and map of surrounding area) - cool cowboy/western theme with lyrical tie-in too. I'd be psyched if this was from a show I saw.
Go to madpixel.net and you can see tons of old jacket prints he did, including the cover of Celebracion de la Ciudad Natal live EP

Wouldn't complain about a Reno. LA was Burwell, and I wonder if we'd get another so soon after.
i am highly suspicious that it is a burwell. only just because he did the RCMH and NYE shows.
nah, i doubt it is. inside info leads me to believe its a NYC based artist.

Here's the poster I did for the show....I made 50 of these to hand out to the board faithful and I sort of succeeded. There's going to be a thread to see who got which number eventually but I know I handed some out to some non-board people so the numbers will be empty.

for high demand phish posters, they are often on Ebay well before the show is over, people put up the sales on their smartphones inside the show. It's out of control.
So it's looking after allocation that I have about 10 left. Subinai, E-Wind and Fully I have three put aside for you as well. That leaves 7 more. I need to get small mailer tubes over the weekend and figure out how much it'll cost to ship at work on Monday.

I hate that too, but it always seems to be the Burwell's that people are putting up on ebay after the shows. They just know that they will most likely be able to flip them for cost if not even more. Hate to see it also but, if i pick up extra one/s i usually get them to fellow forum people such as your self or to make a trade for a Burwell that i do not have. After e_wind's comment i would have to suggest the same, is there a fellow MMJ west coast fan that would like to trade an LA Burwell from Dec. 1st Gibson for an NYC Dec 14th Burwell. Sorry for those that missed out on this poster as i know the feeling very well, and if i can't find a trade i will most likely just sell it to a fellow forum member that missed out on it. But please allow me to try to make a trade that is after e_wind gets his. There still was a stack of posters by the time i made it to the merch table 7:00 p.m but sold out by about 7:30 p.m. The merch guy had mentioned that there still may have been more inside on the 6th floor but never got to check that out since i was in GA. Eric let me know if you were able to make the trade so i know if i can proceed with mine. Thanks for a great show MMJ!!

Great poster Deathstick!! Nice to hear that you did this for fellow forum folks, wish i made it into the city a little earlier so i could have seen these in the flesh but it looks as though i just missed you guys at Stout, saw Ruckus and he had mentioned that you guys had left Stouts to line up for the rail at about 5 p.m so it looks as though i just missed you guys. Same here man, i heard that most of the forum people went in to MSG at about 5:00p.m. Trust me as i wanted to meet quite a few of you folks there but you all left me.. :( just joking as i don't blame you all for wanting to get to the merch table before posters were gone and also wanted to be sure that you all had a spot on the rail. As someone mentioned before that there were 2 listing of the Burwell NYC poster on ebay just after the show and i just checked now and there is 7 different listings with two of them having more then one available. It really blows for the people that didn't make it to the show early enough that wanted one, as a note about the posters though, there were quite a few that were dinged up pretty good or had some rough edges so i returned it a few times until i got one that wasn't damaged. Did anyone else see this, as i see one of the sellers on ebay had mentioned this in their listing?

Scalpers suck >:( Some people will do anything for a buck I guess. One of these MSG ebayers is throwing in deathstick's poster to sweeten the pot..
Just knowing that it's a Burwell people are gonna try to make money off of it.
Speaking of, I think I still have two of the Boston Burwells left....
So I caved and bought an MSG burwell off ebay. Not to pricey though in my opinion for what it was. Especially after I saw it in person. The guy I bought mine from told me to tell anyone that would be interested he would sale the poster shipped and everything for $70. And not go thru ebay. Mine is in excellent shape so I know they are too. Just thought I would let ya'll know. I hate having to use ebay but this guy seemed pretty cool and talked like he does it so people like us who didn't get to go have a chance at getting a poster. Could be bullshit but o well. Just pm me if you are interested and I will get you the info. He told me that a few nights ago so I can't guarantee they are still there.
70$ is definitely worth it. they were 35$ at the show. everything is more expensive in NYC, apparently. even the posters.
that's what i thought Eric...especially since he is including shipping charges in that. just heard back from him, he still has them too. what about that metalllic ink? had no idea until i saw it he was gonna do that. that's one of my faves this tour. really like the la one but there is just something about that blue/metallic color i like so much more

So in another thread i mentioned that i now have an MSG NYC Burwell to part with. I have to check with one other forum member that was looking for it but if they have it already then i have one available for someone that needs it. Hope it helps someone from saving them to have to bid on ebay, so whomever sends me a pm first will have first shot at it.
Missed out on the Yim poster, any one that comes across one let me know!

This is the best deal I've seen in a while for a Burwell LA 11 (orange smiley robot), a perfect companion to the MSG 11 (mirror-image blue smiley bot). $73 w/free shipping.
