okay everyone - this masterpiece comes to you with
the guitar in dropped D, and cappo at the 5th fret.
DADGBE, cappo 5
All tabs relative to the cappo
h - hammer on
/ - slide up/down
the low D can almost always be voiced during the main riff/verse

the leads are still coming - stand on me -
but what's more - is that after seeing them the other night - i have to say my tab is incorrect. it appears that the guys were playing in standard with cappo on 3, which is essentially the same thing as how i've got it tabbed, they just have to do more leg(finger)work to get the same results in this setup i believe... im not certain about the tuning, but cappo definitely on 3. strange indeed
im almost positive carl's guitar was capo 5, and jim's flying v was capo 3.
Quoteim almost positive carl's guitar was capo 5, and jim's flying v was capo 3.
i
know jim's V was at 3 - but i remember being very flabbergasted at seeing carl's LP was also at 3. granted i wasnt 5 feet away from carl, as i was jim - but i was sure it was at 3 after doing a double take.
i'd like to think you're right for the sake of my tab's accuracy - but im not convinced. if anyone can attest to the position of carl's cappo - i might be able to sleep at night again
Lay Low
Intro: G (with a hammer on the D string, 2nd fret)
w/out capo:
verse: G, C, Am, D
chorus, Bm, Am, Bm, Am, C, D
w/capo on 3rd fret:
verse: E, A, F#m, B
chorus: G#m, F#m, G#m, F#m, A, B
Okay -- this Lay Low saga is driving me crazy! I think it's one of their finest songs ever -- and my regard for Carl (which was always very high) has pretty much doubled since I've been listening to this one...(incessantly, I might add).
So try this, for the intro part. It's incredibly rough and almost definitely inaccurate (it's standard tuning, no capo) -- but I think it sounds kinda kickin'. If you can spread some reverb on it, it'll sound better...
