good album. Lonesome Dreams, the first full-length album from the L.A. band Lord Huron, creates that effect at times, as the cavernous choruses of Fleet Foxes or My Morning Jacket collide with the polyrhythmic playfulness of, say, Givers.

This band is seriously amazing.
Unfortunately I couldn't get tickets before their Chicago show sold out and now my only hope is that people will click on this link to stream their album online (that's all--you don't have to sign up for anything or give your email address, just click and listen [or not, but you should]).

Thanks guys, hope to see you at some shows.
I was in NYC two days ago, overnight for work, and did a little google of who was playing that night. They were, and I was tempted to go, but (being old) I was spooked off by the late start and a 6 am rise the next day. I regret not going as I hear good buzz from a few places.
Everything they've released is amazing. Specifically the "Mighty" EP
These guys are terrific. Love the original artwork!

Lonesome Dreams likely in my top 10 from last year. Gotta get that EP. Do they have anything else I should know about?
Love me some Lord Huron! Here's the official video for 'Time to Run'....genius:

I've been listening to these guys nonstop for weeks now. Amazing stuff! I'm sure I missed tons of chances back when this album came out to see them live. Luckily I caught their set at Shaky Knees over the weekend.
I have seen them twice. Once they opened up for Alt-J and the other with them headlining. I love them. Lonesome Dreams is great but I might like the first two EPs even more. Very much looking forward to their next one.
New album out 4/7 and tour 4/16. Yeah!

You can listen to the entire album on iTunes. If it's as close to as good as Lonesome Dream or Mighty, that would be incredible. I have listened to the singles over the last few weeks and the complete album just once.
Seeing them for the first time in May. I know very little. What's a good starting point?
Love the new album!
It could be rightly pointed out that I bitch when a band strays too far from their roots, but I also feel that this album is SO close in sound to the previous it almost feels too "more of the same". Maybe that will go away on repeated listens and I start to see the differences.

I have listened to this new album a lot. Agreed... not only does it sounds similar to their older stuff, a lot of songs on this album sound similar to each other. I still think it's really good. I love their sound, themes they sing about, etc.
Yeah this is a little too samey for me. A bit of a disappointment after their last one.
A new album coming out in April with a tour announced today and singles now available to stream.

Saw them perform a couple of their new songs at the Bomb Factory in Dallas back in August, they were really good. Love this band so much. Seen them 4 times, always put on a great show.
new album Vide Noir out today! First listen through, realllllly digging it!
Looking forward to giving it a listen!
I've been listening to this a ton. So many great songs. I like their style and the sound of the recordings. I'm looking forward to their show May 4. I checked their recent setlists and am surprised there are so many Strange Trails songs and so few from Lonesome Dreams. I was hoping for more of a 50/50 split from their old albums and maybe one from Mighty. It's still going to be a great show.
Yes it will be a great show, i've seen them 4 times and they've gotten better each time.
I am really enjoying the new album, the first half is very similar to Strange Trails imo, not complaining because i love their sound and i find it unique overall. But the second half is where they get into some new territory for them i feel, but it's still great.
I'll be at the show in Dallas fashoooo

Two nights ago was my fourth time seeing them, and they continue to get better. More variety of sounds, great new songs, and a Harvest Moon cover thrown in during the encore. I was hoping for more from Lonesome Dreams, which is one of my favorite albums, but the new songs are indeed great. I don't like their twangy stuff nearly as much as the atmospheric/reverb stuff or their rocking songs (like Ancient Names 1 and 2). But the diverse tunes and incredible lyrics about made me think they were MMJ like and I have never thought that before. Maybe it was also due to the bigger venue and more and bigger lights and background visuals.
New album out today... Long Lost
FANTASTIC!!!
Their video series "Alive From Whispering Pines" they had this spring prior to the album release was really well done and creative. Hopefully they will rerelease them sometime in the future.
Have listened to the new album a handful of times, definitely dig it. Again, they stick so much to their "sound" so a lot of songs can sound similar but since it's still a unique sound "cosmic country/hinderlands outdoorsy folk reverb/vintage 50's soul" it's great, and every album seems to have a song that damn near puts me to tears, like "I Lied" on this new one
"cosmic country/hinderlands outdoorsy folk reverb/vintage 50's soul"
NAILED IT!!
I have listened to the new one a few times. I hope it will grow on me more as it doesn't rank nearly as high as their previous albums in my book. I got tickets to see them in September. I can't wait for live music
That was a great description MMJTX.
I love this band. Loved them at 9:30 Club a few years ago and especially when they played Wolf Trap with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats as an opener. Night Sweats played a burner of an opening set but LH was able to follow it admirably. The sound at LH shows is always perfect.
Lord Huron's Whispering Pines video series early this year was amazing as well.
