Any song predictions? I am hoping for a How do you know. It was played last time the boys were on the Riverfront. War begun, Remnants, and Nashville to Kentucky were also played that day.

Also, this will be the last night of the tour with Mr. Weir. From the other sit ins, I can not wait to see what we get. Hopefully a Terrapin Station, Franklin, or He's Gone. I am guessing probably Tennessee Jed.

I am just really excited to the boys together. when Jim came to NC we got pretty spoiled. He played Bermuda Highway and Wonderful. I do hope for some oldies like O is the One and Xmas curtain. So pumped for the show! leaving at 8 am tomorrow  :cheesy:

I like both Yakeroo and Evilurges song choices for mmj . Is anybody down for an Easy Morning Rebel opener?? I asked the band for an acoustic version of It Beats For You

I don't know, but from the few videos of the tour I've been able to dig up on YouTube and from the comments about some on the front row not understanding why MMJ fans were excited to hear a particular song get played, I would like for the band to play only jamming/loud rockers to wake up the audience. Since they go on so early (with it still very bright outside/hardly any light show), I want them to wake the old people up (me included at age 46)! I think I need The Dark, Off The Record, Highly Suspicious, Anytime, Dancefloors, an extended Honest Man, Run Thru, and a powerful Steam Engine. To round it out with a few slower but still very powerful songs, I would love to hear Where To Begin, War Begun, and I Will Sing You Songs.

I would be okay with a heavy rocking set too.  I think O is the One, and Lowdown with a heavy guitar intro would work really well.

Yes we are Rain or Shine. Rain is possible.

Looking at a map of downtown, I just realized that the terraced Riverfront Park venue where we saw MMJ headline after Evil Urges might not be the same as "The Lawn at Riverfront Park" where AmericanaramA is tonight. Does anyone know for sure?

Mr. White, I like the way you think!
I'm very jealous of all you guys in Nashville tonight. I hope you all get face-melted!
After 2 trips to see Jim this year ( at the Basement and on the rail at the Cannery) I'm disappointed that I can't make it down on this Sunday night. Fortunately, I will be in Indy next Friday.
I look forward to updates and posts from all of you......have a Wonderful night!
Mr. White, I have some pix from the Cannery that I couldn't get to post. If you'd like, send me a PM w/ your email and I'll send to you.

I was hoping to get it personalized, but I'm not sure if he does that or not. I'm definitely getting that thing framed :cheesy:. Also got a used Carl pick!

It's a shame weir isn't along for the ride all summer.  These collabs are so awesome.  MMJ and the Dead are my hands down two favorite bands so seeing Bobby playing with the Jacket is one of the coolest musical things I've seen.  I wish they had done a dead song when they played Tampa, but dead prudence was cool nonetheless.  MmJ and Furthur should do a battle of the bands for New Year's Eve.

Says you. He's the headliner of the tour and calls the shots. Dylan deserves the respect he's earned after 50 years of putting out music! I don't think I've read one quote from anyone who's been to a show who's complaining about seeing MMJ or Wilco live this summer. Not one about the shows, or about how many cell phones and cameras they had to peer through to see.

Would it be great if there were some recordings floating around for those of us not at one of these shows? Sure, but it's not going to get me upset if there's not.

In what was supposed to be an "off" year, we're getting to see some live Jacket shows.
If not getting recordings is the price to pay for getting some live MMJ this summer, then I'll gladly pay it.

I'll finish up with this Jason Isbell quote I found, ( that I totally agree with, btw) and posted in the other bands thread.

Great quote from the NYTimes article :

Isbell reserves special scorn for people who record his shows on cellphones and post clips to YouTube. "It's an intrusion because I'm not performing for documentation's sake, I'm performing for people's ears and their eyeballs," he said. "I don't mind the scrutiny of it. We're good every night. I just feel like people aren't participating in the community of the room when they're behaving that way."

He shook his head. "My favorite thing about going to concerts has always been looking around and thinking that there's a lot of people in here that are very much like me, a lot of people in here I could have a full conversation with. I might even get laid in this room. You're not getting laid if you're standing there with your cellphone."

"My favorite thing about going to concerts has always been looking around and thinking that there's a lot of people in here that are very much like me, a lot of people in here I could have a full conversation with. I might even get laid in this room. You're not getting laid if you're standing there with your cellphone."

EricM is correct. There are quite a few Dylan fans at these shows. I sure wouldn't say anything like that to them. The man has earned the right to call the shots at his own shows. Trust me, Jim and Jeff Tweedy both know what being on this tour does for their stature as artists. Years from now this tour will be a notch on their résumé that people will mention to show what respected artists they are and it isn't because Wilco and MMJ went on tour together. It's all because a legend like Dylan thought enough of them that he invited them to be on the bill. Whether you like Dylan or his policies does not matter. M. Ward really doesn't like them either, and there see probably lots of other artists who it annoys as well. While I appreciate videos of shows, I really prefer to not take my camera out and snap lots of pics. I like to enjoy the moment while I'm there. While I appreciate watching videos of shows I didn't get to go to or ones where I was there and want to relive, it annoys the crap out of me to be beside someone who tapes the entire show. Is there really a need to get another video of Wonderful? There are millions of them on the Internet now. But mostly, it's about showing respect to someone's artistic stature who doesn't want pictures and videos taken and feels strongly enough about it to make it an important part of the show experience.

Btw, I've heard there were some Dylan taper rigs at some of the shows, so getting some audio is not out of the question.  I've got no problems with that, and never have.

I see your point, and yes Dylan deserves to call the shots, but I still can't help but view him as a grumpy old man.

I don't record at shows, I prefer to enjoy the moment and watch from my eye not a camera lense. However, if one person records here or there it won't ruin anyone's day. Perhaps what bothers me is the lack of collaborations with Dylan. Sure he lets wilco and jacket tour with him, but he also lets tons of other acts do that as well. Last time jacket toured with him he kicked them out! Idc how much of a legend you are, it doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it. This tour screams collaborations, but Dylan isn't open-minded enough to let it happen. However, I'd love for him to surprise me.

Sure you guys can stick up for the man all you want, but from everything I hear about him, I can't help but seem him as pompous.

From the reviews it sounds like Weir is more enjoyable than Dylan. Actually, if both of them swapped places, I bet a lot of us on here wouldn't be upset.

yeah, I'll throw in my hat and sound like an old white guy complaining about cell phone videos and pictures throughout a show. I don't like it either and think it's largely silly.

I was simply lamenting the fact that there are no tapers there to capture these great once-in-a-lifetime collaborations.

I'm just happy I got to see one of these shows with Bobby.

and fwiw, the staff at Lakewood was running around doing their best to ruin everyone's show to enforce this. People who were checking what time it was or just texting or whatever were bothered by roving bands of staff. It was a little excessive.

I prefer to think of myself more a "seasoned vet" than old.

There were tapers at these shows from what I'm hearing.  The West Palm show is already up on archive, and I'm sure more audio will follow.

Glad you got to see Bobby, and I sure wish he was opening one of the shows I'm going to. A bit bummed he's only doing the first four, but glad for MMJ that they got to jam with him, and for all the fans that got to see it. Here's hoping it leads to something more down the road.

I'm not a big fan of cell phone tapers at all, so I am ok with the no videotaping rule as long as they permit real audio tapers.

Were the video screens working at the Nashville show? Was the no videotaping rule the reason why they did not have the large screens operating at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta? That seems kind of crappy to the people that paid for a lawn ticket.

Blood of the Lamb
Airline to heaven
Mountain Bed
Side with the seeds
Misunderstood
Bird Song > Tomorrow Never Knows (with Bob Weir)
Laminated cat
Born alone
Impossible Germany
Jesus Etc.
Hoodoo Voodoo

The Wilco facebook page poster has been getting the setlists wrong lately.  I think they are using the written setlist, but the band is changing the set mid show.  Wilco fans can be pretty anal-rentitive about stuff, so I'd guess the setlist the fan wrote down is more accurate, but I don't know for sure.

So based on the review below, Dylan had a guest appearance by the mcCrary sisters during his encore. Sad that he has other musicians play with him, but not anyone he is touring with. Maybe that's his way of warming up to collaborating with other people. Maybe by the time this tour gets to Chicago there will be collabs. Also, would've been cool if Jack White came out and played with MMJ.

That's a great way of looking at the shows, Seth. It's pretty much how I was going to take them in also.  Especially since there's no rotating of the bands. With Jacket going on before Wilco, and Dylan, it's pedal to the metal from the get go for me. Hit a nice cruising pace for Wilco, and then drop it into neutral and let it coast a little while during Dylan.

He might be selling them but they were not being sold inside the venue. Try did have merch people walking up to the people waiting at the rail and sold the shitty tour poster they have. MMJ does have a new shirt that's gray and doesn't have so much crappy vinyl iron on design on it so it's cooler temp wise and it looks really nice.

I know photography is frowned at on this tour, but I am not a 'professional' per se but did bring a decent smaller camera in & will post some pics later.

The Grateful Jacket was one of my greatest concert experiences ever, just those two songs. It was like it was destined to happen since before our MMJ boys were even born. During some of the jammier moments, the way the rest of the Jacket focused attention & intuition on Weir was just chill-bump inducing. The almost acapella harmonies at the end of Rider with Bob, Carl, & Jim singing to the center of my gut, that was so phenomenal I just want to cry thinking I actually got to see it!

AmericanaJamma is more like it if you ask me. Wow, just wow!

This Nashville Scene article did a good job capturing the spirit of the night.

Well, Jason has certainly earned the right to express his opinion. I feel it is a far from black and white issue. When I go on you tube and see all these amazing performances made from a fricken phone, I feel like I have experienced something I otherwise never would have a chance to experience. I can relive a performance I was at, on my HDTV. I am guilty of being that asshole on occasion. I did 2 songs at a Jim James show that was only about 8% or less of the show, but I think one in particular is pretty good, and will treasure it the rest of my life. I don't get in anyones way, and am very selective. So, when a guy who makes his living doing the same thing night after night dismisses a fan who wants to capture a moment, I think his perception is a bit skewed. Fuckers who do the whole show, and are intrusive, deserve his scorn.Just not clear where the line is.

^^This, exactly.   I've wanted to post a review but I've been speechlessly in awe. I just feel like my life is now complete after experiencing this! Such pure bliss it was. I'll miss Mr. Weir at the Memphis show tonight.

After recently re-listening to the taper audio I have of this show, I realized I had some footage I never uploaded because it was too loud from my cheap camera. I have now matched the taper audio with my video of "I Know You Rider" with Bob Weir. I also have footage of "War Begun" but will have to do some creative editing before uploading it.
