Title: Rock Biographies
Post by: APR on Jul 02, 2020, 01:57 PM
I'm looking for recommendations for a good biography or autobiography.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I recently read Gregg Allman's My Cross to Bear, which was really worthwhile and interesting.  I was hoping to pick up a few more biographies and learn about more rock and roll greats.

Levon Helm's is pretty good. Currently reading Nick Mason's book Inside Out b/c the kindle version is free with prime and I'm enjoying it so far.

Neil Young's epic Shakey is amazing.

Keith Richards' is also amazing!

Steve Gorman's The Life and Death of the Black Crowes was the one I read most recently and I loved it too, although it was sad to hear about all the mistakes the band made.

I also enjoyed Slash's book.

Thanks for the quick replies already.  I want to read about Neil Young and saw several books including some by him.  Shakey sounds great and will probably be next for me.

I can highly recommend Carrie Brownstein's Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl and Bumping into Geniuses (by Danny Goldberg, who managed a ton of legendary artists).  Kim Gordon's, Girl in a Band was pretty good.
