Finally! The biggest head scratcher is no Phone Went West from the Beacon which is one of the best performances of a song by any band I've seen.
I'll be interested in knowing if they provide info on where the tracks were recorded at. Live Drugs from The War on Drugs did not give info on where/when those songs were recorded, maybe they do that here.
My guess is several of these may be from The Beacon run though I am not sure that was considered part of "The Waterfall Tour". Man, I need those shows! I'd settle for the time being for the 11/28/2015 encore.
Yeah I'd like to know if any of these tunes are from shows I saw.

You mean you wouldnt be able to tell by listening??
Noob
Jk, im sure it will be listed either on the back or in the liner notes.
Seems like this album was a distinct effort to get live versions of the newer songs on vinyl since we already have most of the classics via okonokos.
Im guessing the Beacon run is on their list of shows to be released in this series.. then again, knowing Jim, this could get stuck on Vol. 1 for a decade while he falls in love with several other ideas.

very tough to tell where this Tropics comes from. Throughout the entire year of 2015, there's never a version of Tropics that goes straight into Way That He Sings, so it could be from a few different shows. It sounds like a more intimate indoor setting to my ears. but i need to listen to it on better speakers to make sure

Tropics is from Red Rocks 2015.
It is ? If that's so, that's kinda weird. Oh well.
Prob not gonna happen but I'd also love a HQ version of the band doing Quick Like A Flash. Boy do they knock that one out of the park. That alongside a proper recording of the bouncy rock version of Tonight I Want to Celebrate With You from the same era would be perfect :headphones:
Just saw this in the description on the MMJ store for the Live 2015 preorder. Don't remember seeing this before.

not gonna lie, kind of forgot about the fact these should be showing up this week with all the excitement of the tour and new album announcement. Saw someone on reddit say they already received their shipping confirmation email. Can't wait to get this in and listen this weekend.
Got an email today about this. Tracking says I'll be rocking out on Saturday!
Quote from: TommyBurnz on Sep 01, 2021, 01:21 PMGot an email today about this. Tracking says I'll be rocking out on Saturday!
I got the same e-mail that said Saturday for delivery. Checked my e-mail again today with the USPS tracking link, and it said it had been delivered to my front porch today! It should be there waiting for me when I get home at around 6:35 this evening!!!
Just got home and opened it up. There's no indication as to where each song was recorded. Also, the download card won't work until 9/3/2021. Have to do some yard work and will have to check out the records later on.
As of 8:26 a.m., this is what it says at dropcards.com "This artist has not uploaded media for this card yet. Please check back soon."
Is this supposed to be on Apple and Spotify?
According to the news release it says "this will initially only be available on vinyl, with a digital release at a later time" so doesn't specify when it will be on digital but does say it will happen.
Ok. Guess I'm waiting for vinyl to arrive then.

for real. The War on Drugs did that with Live Drugs
I don't have anything to play vinyl on but considering buying this just for the download card. At the same time, if it's the first in a series and later ones are full shows, I may just wait for those. We got enough 2015 shows on nugs.net for this to not feel terribly unique to me (given that I'm not a vinyl guy, that part of it is obviously unique).
Anyone else's really noisy?
Quote from: rkwedge on Jul 05, 2021, 02:17 AMTropics is from Red Rocks 2015.
I don't think it is. Just compared the two and they don't match up.
Do we know if these are getting a more widespread digital release at any point? I don't know why exactly but a live album on vinyl just doesn't appeal to me. Would love to have these on my iTunes and Spotify, especially mixed with future volumes. I love having a "create your own setlist" with live recordings night! Way too much effort with wax

It will be streaming at a later date. It's initially vinyl exclusive though.
It does come w a dload code.
My vinyl is pristine. Zero surface noise. I love hearing definitive live versions of so many of the new jams!!
My only quibble is that Smokin from Shootin didn't make the cut.
The intro for Masterplan is sooooooo freaking cool!!

This. Woulda loved a Smokin from Shootin in the place of Gideon.

Agree. Love this version of my favorite mmj tune.
I'm still dying to find out which shows these songs were taken from.
Any help Mr Yac?
Starts out kinda slow, the run of Compound Fracture through Believe is kinda meh. But I probably feel that way in large part due to my feelings on those songs. From Evil Urges on is pretty tight. I did a few comparisons with the 2015 auds I have, but nothing seemed to match up. They played a lot of shows that year.

my understanding is that this information got lost somehow during the mixing process and the band isn't even sure which shows the tracks are from at this point.
I like this! Cool to have "definitive" live versions of some of the newer tracks. Frankly though the sequencing is a little weird and I feel like there are better versions of some of these songs from the last few years. But whatever! Hopefully this is vol. 1 of very very many!

ok just finished. Loved the intro to Masterplan and dondante was a highlight too. It is mixed really well and nice to hear some of the nuances.... great stuff!
Eagerly awaiting more... guess I may be greedy :)

I love the opening five song run of Victory Dance, Circuital, Compound Fracture, I'm Amazed and Believe.
I've seen each song in the opener slot live except for I'm Amazed. Pretty strong first set stuff before we get into the hot and sweaty stuff later!
Gotta say the production it top notch. Much better than the nugs.net live shows and those sound really great too. But you can tell the powers that be spent some time mixing and producing this MMJ 2015 Live album.
YES!!! top notch production, great work MMJ team! I needed this, it really cheered me up after a rough couple of weeks.
hope you're okay ChiefOkono!!!
I think the versions of Gideon, Masterplan maybe Victory Dance are damn near definitives
Still waiting on the digital only of this. I don't do vinyl.

Absolutely stupid to shut out fans who want this on a different format.

Exactly. Especially since they already have so much on Nugs.net. How hard would it be to add?
Eh, I don't buy vinyl anymore (the quality has gone downhill drastically in the last 10 years) but I'm not in a rush to get my hands on this album either. There are so many HQ tapings of this band out there that my live Jacket thirst is pretty much non existent. As long as there aren't any full blown conversations going on around the taper I actually prefer those recordings to the polished released ones anyway.
That being said - I will obviously buy this in a heartbeat when it becomes available to download. It'll come when it comes.
Someone hooked me up with a digital copy of this but honestly I don't think I've listened once. We have Red Rocks 2015 and a 3 night stand from San Fran on nugs, a compilation release of what is basically staples didn't really inspire a listen.
I'll listen to the Dondante at some point, Jim was doing some trippy noodling that year.

Yeah, I have it on vinyl but have listened once. The tracklist choice isn't extremely exciting and contains some of my least favorite in their catalogue.
It's my favorite version of Masterplan that I have.

Masterplan, along with Tropics, makes it worthwhile for me.

yeah, this Masterplan rips. Overall, though, the tracklist is just...not the best.
I'm someone who was disappointed when I saw the tracklist, but was pleasantly surprised at how well curated it was when I actually listened to it.
Do you think we'll get Vol 2 this year? Or ever? I could see this being something that goes by the wayside especially with the pressing plant sitch.
