Quote from: parkervb on Oct 14, 2019, 10:38 AMthe guy at my record shop suggested this guy to me since I asked about Sturgill's new one when I was in (sold out and backordered). I checked his latest out on the ride home and he sounds like some sort of country Nick Cave...wasn't my thing but I may have to check out his first album if its a bit more traditional.

Country Nick Cave... totally hear that.

Do we know if this will be streaming on Friday?  I can't remember if the last couple live releases were delayed to streaming or if they landed on day 1.

New album Black on Black is so good! Angels and Heathens has MMJ vibes and kind of sounds like it could be Jim singing backup. Love it

Yes, great points!

Sometimes in the age of the interwebs I think that I forget that the process takes much longer when you are trying to promote and album more traditionally.  They don't seem to really want to pull a Jack White type of secret release.
Love that they are having so much fun now and it shows.  I think they are excited to see what next year brings musically.

I hope that Brendan brought out some aspects of the band we have never really seen before in the studio.

The amount of time in soundcheck blew me away!  Maybe they don't really need to play the songs on their own to keep them fresh.  I love that they have various different lists and they pull bits from different ones.
I want to say I read before that they look at what they've played in a certain city in the past as well.  Is that true?

Also I am curious to hear more about the official live albums and what the process is to select what to release.

Quote from: ericm on Nov 15, 2024, 07:32 AMFantastic interview, and I love how he talks about such a great place the band is in, and thinks they're better than ever.

Also so cool to hear more about the decision to really mix up the setlists, the how and why they're doing it. Used to be you had to do multi night runs to get different tunes, but now it appears we get that on a night to night basis.

I'm hoping for a big powerful 2025 tour! Can't wait.

Quote from: Lucius on May 12, 2023, 02:01 PMCan anyone recommend an "extended Mahgeetah" that's available on relisten/archive? If there is one! I've never come across one. Though I tend to stick with the most recent years/tapings. I rarely go <2015.
The one mentioned right above your post! 2022 OBH night 1, with Trey Anastasio. So good.

Around 445 mark in Mahgeetah they make a heavenly detour back into Only Memories Remain before hammering home the the Mahgeetah ending at the 1015 mark.

Forgot how special that was.  Definitely belongs in the jam discussion.

On a grateful dead board it would be noted as follows:

Mag>OMR>Mag

DMT is a wild drug. I once heard The Bear during Aluminum Park

Lol. May be my favorite message board post ever!!!

I still stand by my Mag>OMR>Mag remark

🤣🤣🤣 I hate that I'm just now seeing this
