As a Gulf Coast resident for a good portion of my adult life and having lived through more than my share of these nasty things, this is my least favorite time of the year.  Here are a couple of cool places to go for the real story:

Read the discussion section on the last one; it's where weather people go to get the straight shit.  I hate that they keep nudging this thing north.  Here's to hoping this thing fizzles - unlikely with the Gulf hotter than a hottub right now.  This could one for the ages.  The one forecast (one of the more reliable models that they use) keeps bringing this closer and closer to New Orleans - they ain't ready.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Fingers crossed, rubbing the Buddah belly and the lucky rabbits foot that it goes somewhere else instead of NO. It was wife and my favorite city on earth. We were both devestated last time. I cannot fathom another monster hitting. And people need to know that Global Warming and our own stupity is what's doing this. Warming of the waters and destruction of the wetlands which acts as a cooling buffer between civizilation and the Gulf. I'm off my Al Gore soapbox now.

Looks like Jamaica is fucked.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I'm worried since my friends left for their honeymoon on Friday to the southeastern coast of Cuba.

doing my best to push this thing away from NO, perhaps to dissolve completely much like Flossie did, or do a U turn magically avoiding all those island it hit on the way in.

*wishful thinking*
