QuoteJames Harrison wins AP NFL Defensive MVP....congrats to Silverback. One of the leaders on the #1 D in the league, certainly deserving and finally getting the props he should be

Am I the only one who finds that kinda offensive?

Not that I'm some kind of PC cop, because I'm not!  And not that I'm some sort of Steeler-sympathizer, because I'm not!

His teammates gave him that nickname and he embraces it.

I think if you think about it racially, its can be seen as offensive...But back when Myron Cope was still around, he called him Silverback, the current radio announcers use it, Stan Savran on Fox Sports Pittsburgh has used it. Teammates use the nickname...Ive seen numerous Silverback T-Shirts around as well

Its his official nickname and he's never said he doesnt like it, so...

Plus I enjoy saying it 8-)

And not only did he win it, but out of 50 votes

Harrison - 22
Ware - 13
Reed - 8

I think the other 7 were split between Polamalu and Haynesworth

I thought he deserved to win, but even I am surprised he won by that much  [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Well Bold, the real Pennington showed up I guess ;)

Defensive player of the year is an absolute impossible award to vote for and NOBODY can possibly determine in any calculable or tangible way, who is the best defensive player and why.

I guess the easy way out is to pick the best player from the best defense.

I would have voted for Mark Gastineau 8-)

Thanks for the Warner vid.  From the Pickle archives, some more love for our playoff QBs.

Vincent Jackson gets a DUI while on probation (for a prior DUI) and might be suspended for the game sunday   [smiley=dankk2.gif]

Outside the Lines is reporting PacMan Jones arranged a shooting in a strip club in 2007 when he was suspended.

Career. Over.

Mangini is hired by the Browns!!! I SO hope we makes a ridiculous trade for Brett Favre and ruins another team for a few years!  Especially since it's my hated Brownies!  So what did fawning over an overrated Favre get him?  Well he's gone from Man"genius" to Man"I've-got-to-move-to-Cleveland-now".   ;D

I don't know how I feel about Marvin staying on with my Bengals.  We'll see I guess.  We actually have a good shot next year if we can keep Carson and the other 25 players who were on IR this year healthy.

RE: DeShawn Jackson.  Reports I read said he will likely play.  The wheels of justice turn slow in the NFL apparently.  He'll probably be suspended for a few preseason games.

You mean Vincent Jackson??

Thats what Ive figured...Ive barely heard anything about it since the story broke on Tuesday. I didnt even hear them mention it on Mike & Mike yesterday

No biggie. They still looked good and beat Indy with him getting 1 catch I think. It certainly wouldnt hurt if he was suspended though

Right, Vincent. My bad.  I don't understand how these guys get away with doing things that land you and I in prison and the NFL can't seem to summon the energy to slap their wrists. Goodell is suppose to be "cracking down"?  Yeah, right!  The Bengals haven't had anyone arrested in two years but it's doesn't seem to be as big of a deal as it was two years ago.

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!

Titans totally blew that game...3 turnovers in Ratbird territory, missed FG

Biggest things was the refs not calling that CLEAR delay of game...that clock was on 0 for like 1.4 seconds. Cant believe the refs blew that call.

Hopefully the Stillers win tomorrow, and if they do, Id rather play play the Ratbirds at home than TEN anyway

Delhomme may have just had the worst game for a QB on NFL history...and he was the #3 QB in playoff history before this game  ;D ;D

Really cant believe ARZ beat them by 20 points, really 26 bc that last TD was just garbage. Even more surprising since ARZ lost all their east coast games this year and CAR was undefeated at home. Larry Fitz IMO is the best WR going right now, though Andre Johnson isnt far behind him I dont think.

Dont see them winning @ NYG, but if Philly wins tomorrow, I could see ARZ beating them @ home.

Do you remember me saying not to trust a team with Delhomme as QB? I'll stick to that statement. Lol.

Giants/Eagles should be a good game.  Weather could be a huge factor.

I will say ARZ D has looked better the last 2 weeks than it did all season, esp yesterday. They were all over Smith, and really did not leave many other guys open either. I think that was a big part of it, but all that means is Delhomme shouldnt have thrown those balls

Despite being down 2 scores or more early, I think they gave up on teh run way too early. That was the only shot they had, and they didnt really even use it once down 13-14. Dumb.

I think I wanna put $$$ on the GMen, but I dont know. I think this is going to be a tight game (4pts or less like the spread), and could go other way. I big TO for a TD or close to it could be the deciding factor.
I expect something like 20-17, 21-17, and think either team could win it. Most likely, whether its Westbrook or Jacobs/Ward. Whiever gets going wil probably win.

I think the Stillers will win, but if Roeth doesnt take care of the ball, going to be hard to win.

I think we contain Sproles for the most part (80-90 total yards not including returns), pressure Rivers fairly consistently (3-4 sacks), and force 2 turnovers.

I also expect Fast Willie to have a 100+ yard game

Big key as well is field position. Mike Scifres IMO is the best punter in the NFL and if you saw the Indy game, you know what Im saying. PIT not having 3&Outs will be huge, as will be limiting Sproles in their return game.

As long as Roeth limits his mistakes though and doesnt take too many sacks, we should win. Also, if he looks to be affected by the concussion in his 1st game back, I hope Tomlin has the balls to pull him and put Hefty Lefty  in.

corey

Well, shit. The Titans beat themselves with turnovers yesterday. Also, having Chris Johnson leave the game didn't help things either. We were in it to win it until he checked out with the injury. Who knows what would have happened if the refs actually called the delay of game like they should have. Maybe the Ravens would have brought in the other kicker who wasn't as solid as Stover since he's the long-distance guy. We'll never know... Oh, well.

So now I'm gonna root for the underdogs. Go Chargers!    :D

well, so far we have seen the advantages of a first week bye and a home game...
