I hate texting, can they make the keypads any smaller.  It takes me 5 times longer to text than it does to make the friggin call and finish a conversation by voice.  My 12 year old just got a cell phone a couple months ago and we had her texting function blocked.  She did talk us into getting unlimited texting on our package.  I can't wait to see how many texts she has made.  If she has over 1000 texts I might have to cut her  thumbs off  ;).

But do you facebook ?

:o :o :o... $ 4700.00   So she is grounded until the end of the school year or until she graduates from college ?  If it were my daughter her cell phone days would be over, I would make her use 2 soup cans and a string to talk to her peeps.

I do find Facebook surprisingly amusing I have to admit, there are some funny browsergames on there (i.e. Mafia Wars) and loads of people I know I don't ever have contact with except for facebook.

Texting sucks, I hate it. Unfortunately I need to do it to keep in touch with my daughter.

You can block it all you want and try to prevent them from doing it but they will find another way.

All my friends say the same thing, they ( the kids) DO NOT pick up the phone.

That's a little bit crazy, especially as all you really do is wait. I don't want to know what would happen if you gave them something like World of Warcraft to play, where you can actually do something without purpose when waiting, on Mafia Wars all you can do is stare at the countdown.

I personally think texting is stupid and very annoying. I can't stand when you are hanging out with someone and they're texting with someone else; or when the clerk at the check out counter is texting when they should be working. I know it's a great way to communicate, but when is it going to stop. Next thing you know people will be sexting...that's right...people have sex with each other using their texting devices. I'm sure this already goes on. Then everyone will have blisters on their thumbs, and no one wants that.
