QuoteI am rully rully getting into Boardwalk Empire.  Great production values.
There's a lot that is great about Boardwalk Empire.  I love Buscemi in a lead role, the historical accuracy of everything (clothing, popular music, cars, attitudes), and the good, old fashioned violence.  And then some Bored to Death to cleanse the palate.  Perfect Sunday night TV.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Quotetonights episode of survivor man... well the new les straud(sp?) show is awesome.  they just blew tree bark and tobacco up les' nose.  he's going to be tripping balls momentarily I think.   he is the creator of the survivor show.  man vs wild posed off him and made the scenario more "extreme" for people who drink mountain dew or something.  but les is way more pure.  he's one of my tv heroes.  his new show is pretty tight.

sticky!! i agree completely. les is the REAL man, bear grylls (sp?) is a douche. i need to start DVRing it again. i used to plan my friday nights around survivorman. man v wild is like SM on roids and fakery and trickery.

the only dude who has earned my trust when it comes to survival is that Cody dude from dual survival.  the hippy, barefoot dude.  he's smart as fuck.  Les is the godfather of that type of television for sure.

man vs. wild is for mountain climbers and sky divers.  him doing shit with safety lines sometimes.  them using fancy video techniques to make things look more dangerous than they are.  he loves showing his penis off and and drinking his pee tho that's for sure.

man, woman, wild is fucking dumb as fuck.  the dude is a douche, the chick is sort of hot because she has an accent but other than that I'm not going to sit around and make seaweed nap sacks to stroll around with.  I'm going to kick ass.  make a log cabin or something.  some traps.  man it would be insane to live off the land for a long period of time.

on a side note Dexter is kicking ass this season once again.  I'm worried for the guy.

So true!

I'm not particularly familiar with that era of history - is it pretty accurate?  I know the Big Jim/Diamond Jim Colosimo from the first episode was a real person - his story factors into Sin and the Second City which is a great account of Chicago brothels around the turn of the century.  He owned a pretty prominent brothel (or several?) and his wife was the madam, if I recall correctly.

I think I agree with all of this (except the Dexter shit - don't really know anything about that), so I may start checking my house for gas leaks.  I hate Bear and his fantasy show - staying in hotels and making shit up.  Les is the man and the Bush Hippie is my new hero.

But what's wrong with skydiving?  Give it a shot and it will shake up your outlook.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

sky diving would be fun in the right situation, it freaks me out tho.  It's one of the most extreme ways we can taunt our mortality.  "I'm going to jump out of a plane, I could die". shit is intense son.

ahahahaha, I'm watching 30 rock live and Chris Parnell just referred to his  doctor prescribed soul CD as a "reboneulator" haha.  I've used penis in a lot of ways, but never have I heard that.  absolute genius.  I'm kinda drunk but I'm pretty sure it was funny.

The League is the funniest show on tv right now, or is it me?
I could watch Ruxin and Andre for hours.

The League is alright. But it's almost too far fetched for me. I understand that it's for entertainment and everything. But the target market has to be people who actually play fantasy football. Like running through airport security to get a top draft pick. That's great, but there are two other members of the league that didn't get a chance. That would never fly in my league. These guys act like fantasy gurus, but he was thinking about taking Felix Jones in the 1st and trading Burress last year mid season. Just to name a few things. Somethings are funny though. It's just alright to me.

i definitely think it's gotten a little far fetched this season (maybe trying to widen the audience), and Taco's character has been dissappointing, but I still think it's hilarious.

I actually think the fantasy angle was almost just to get people to tune in at first (and now really, since 10 episodes still havent even aired)...I dont recall that Jones or Burress mentions, and what they do bring up actually is fairly accurate usually. But like I said, I think the fantasy is really just a backdrop to a funny show about friends and competition.

Dont know about funniest on TV because of Curb and Eastbound, but it has surpassed Its Always Sunny currently - but not overall - for me.

As for Its Always Sunny, thought the Gang Buys a Boat episode was hilarious and classic Sunny. Thought the other 2 were mediocre. I liked the Flyers angle in last weeks episode, but the Dee and Dennis radio thing was dumb and not funny

I think the problem I have with The League is when it relates to actual fantasy football. Other than that, I have no problem with it. It's the little things that I don't like. I'm not a big TV or movie fan. I think I posted like 3 times in the movies thread. The Sopranos was the only show I've ever made a point to watch. I'm into sports too much to watch prime time tv. So take anything I say in the TV thread or movie thread with a grain of salt.  My roommates DVR a bunch of tv shows and I'll spend a day watching them all.

So I thought last week's episode was horrible but they made a great comeback this week with the marathon/notary/spunk episode.

Did you ever see the Mr. McGiblets episode from the pilot season?  Still my favorite ;D ;D ;D

one of the most hilarious eastbound and down's of the series just happened.  bored to death was hilarious also and dexter is turning me on.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

has anybody caught any of that new show "Nick Swardson's: Pretend Time"? I only caught the first episode and it was a little less funny than I'd hoped.  any thoughts?  haha I've had this one line from the skit in my head for like 3 or 4 days.

spoiler alert-
the end of scene: A Paralyzed from the neck down, Stephan Hawkins type talking, genius, millionaire domesticated Cat obtains some drugs from this dude and in the human robot voice (nick swardson), the cat says "powdered doughnuts make me go nuts". and drives away. thats the end of the sketch. haha and that phrase wont get out of my head.  He was hilarious as terry on reno 911.

I've seen an uncut 1 hour and 7 minute version of the pilot episode of The Walking Dead and it is brilliant. This is going to be a very special series.

I watched the pre-air version last night.  such a fucking nuts concept for a TV show.  it's almost like 28days later meets that lost type mystery.  "what's gonna happen next, oh shit a twist, etc".  quality pilot.   the effects and make up work is high quality for basic cable for sure.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

anybody see Zach Galifianakis on Bill Mahr the other night?  he was pretty funny.  here's a little clip:
