QuoteNot too many people scream and yell as great as Gordon Ramsey. Watching Hell's Kithchen. He is gonna pop a blood vessle in his head one of these days.

I'll watch Hell's Kitchen, but it seems so contrived.  Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America (they did an American version last year) is a much better watch in my opinion.  He yells, but it seems real and you can tell that he has a genuine interest in helping some of the young people busting their asses in the kitchen.

You can also tell that he's a dude who has spent a good portion of his life working in the carnival that is a restaurant kitchen.
We lost BBC which made me sad and mad. I love Gordon Ramsey. I know Anthony Bourdain has the utmost respect for him for working his ass off working in the kitchen. I love it when he starts call them donkey.

24 has taken the place of The Sopranos for me--I can't wait for the next season (sucks that it doesn't drop until next January).  Hope the movie this Fall fills the void for the moment.

Another GREAT show is David Mamet's "The Unit"  (doesn't hurt that Dennis Haysbert is in this too)!
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Hey, Jaimoe.  I'd like to ask you about BSG, as I have always respected your opinions on the boards here (not that I dont respct anyone elses),  but am having the hardest time getting into this show.  A good friend of mine is super into this show too;  he really tries to sell me on the story.  I'm sure the story is great,  but I just cant seem to get over the horrible acting.  It feels so...I dont' know, 'smallville'-ish. I was very underwhelmed by the miniseries pilot, and have not moved onto the 1st season.   My buddie says the story alone is worth dealing with the poor acting;  I know that even if I went to see Shakespeare, if the acting sucks I will leave, regardsless of how much I like the story. (In all honestly I'm not a shakespear fan, but using this as just an example.)  What keeps you attached to this show?

Make sure that you watch the mini-series pilot first. I believe the DVD box for Season I includes the amazing pilot movie.

A classic entry to the blog.  Damn I love this man's humor. ->

Two weeks to go. Well, two weeks filming, then a few months post production.

Did a scene with Jonah and Louis today. It was outside so a bee came over to watch. Jonah was very uncomfortable with this. He doesn't like bees. He probably doesn't like the way they are willing to die just to sting him. He was convinced it was out to get him.

I said, "don't worry about it."

He continued to worry about it.

Louis made things worse by telling us that once, a bee was bothering him, and some friends advised him to just stand still. He did. The bee stung him on the neck.

So Jonah was nervous now.

The bee ruined a take as Jonah leapt from his sun lounger waving his arms. I laughed. Then Jonah leapt again a few moments later and shouted, "Fucking spider on my leg."

I leapt up too. A bee is one thing but a fucking spider....

"There it is! " Jonah said.

I jumped up and down on it like a mad man. Louis said calmly, "I think the fourth stamp broke its back."

I felt bad about squashing it but it was either him or me. And the spider is the only animal I am willing to squash.

In a way I wish the bee had killed it. That way we'd all be happy. The bee would be doing a good thing by saving me and Jonah from the spider. The bee would die a selfless death and not sting Jonah or Louis. And I would not have had to leap up terrified and commit murder.

But life isn't perfect. If it was I would have been one of the friends that told Louis to stand still. That would have been one of the funniest things ever. This isn't so much a film blog, as a hypothetical invertebrate situation blog. I hope Louis accidentally swallows a moth one day.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

BH, have you seen the video of Ricky shooting Bateman in the ass with a Nerf Gun?  Amazing stuff.

Yes!   The interweb at it's finest. ;D

What a cast that movie has!  It is impossible for it not to be funny.

The real Jaimoe here. I can't seem to log on with my old account. Thanks for the compliment.

Anyway, you bailed far too early on BSG. It actually took me a couple of episodes of Season I for me to get hooked. I think the second half of Season I and most of Season II are some of the best TV produced this decade (and easily makes the Top 3 best-ever TV sci-fi produced).

The acting? I find it generally good and occassionally riveting. One thing that may turn some off is that the show's theme and mood by design, is downright dark and humourless. Admittedly some of the periphery characters are a little weak acting-wise, but most of the leads only get better as the series goes on (as is the case with most American made TV). Watch the pilot again and don't give up on Season I. It's only 13 episodes including the pilot... and the cliffhanger in amazing TV.

Fuckin right, Arrested Development (both the group and the Show) is the shit..Had that show been on HBO or something, it wouldve went at least 6 seasons (and probably wouldve been that much funnier). Exhibit A: Flight of the Conchords - had this show been on Fox or NBC or whatever, itd probably be one of those shows that gets cancelled after 4 or 6 episodes..and its good, but musical shorts aside, I think I dig ADev't more.

And this is my first post in this thread, so I gotta say this:

GO WATCH 'THE WIRE'..Dont get the new season when its on DVD since all the critics were basically the fluffer this past year on it, start with season 1 and if youre not hooked by the end of the season then i dont know what to say. Obviously its not a show for everyone, but if you like gritty drama, reality, and much much more, its a show for you.

PS - I missed the last half of season 5 so if you post outcomes in this thread, dont tell this to anyone, but ill kill you...oh this is confidential (see chapelles show, season 1, trading spouses), well then, confidentially ill kill you
