my ceiling fan is ticking really loudly, causing a lot of anxiety with it's steady beat and making me think it could catch fire at any moment. unfortunately, the switch to turn it off is mounted to the ceiling-dumb- and my ceilings are 20 feet high-i live in a warehouse- and the landlord's not in till monday. is this something to worry about or am i being really neurotic?

Usually ticking just means the fan is just a PINCH off balance... nothing to fear, good buddy, your landlord will probably be able to fix it by tightening it up a tad.

It's freakin' November, though... I wouldn't think the fan was necessary. It's like 40 degrees outside in Tuscaloosa.

Thanks, Brad, for the tip. For some reason, I always fear that appliances will catch on fire. I think I was scarred as a child by the 'stop, drop and roll' movie they showed us at school where the kitten dies in a fire. I need the fan because I have an industrial heater and it makes the heat reach floor level.

My current complaint is that the heating element has gone out in my dryer so I have to hang my clothes on a clothes rack to dry AND I think my thermostat is messed up becasue I can't get my furnace to kick off.  I've been turning it off by flipping the breaker :(

My left eyebrow keeps twitching. I think its stress related but I don't know what I'm stressed about. That in itself is stressful. This has happened before but not in a long time.
