QuoteYeah, they def havent looked as good over the last week or so without Kessel and Lucic

David Krejci is def a big reason, as is Tim Thomas and Manny Fernandez, why theyre #1 right now

The sad thing is, Bergeron would be their best player if he didn't get that concussion last year, when he was run from behind. Bergeron got re-injured a few weeks ago and it has everyone worried. This guy is a rising star, even more so than Kessel and Krejci.

I was aware of that last year, but wasnt he healthy the 1st 2 months this year?? He wasnt doing much before he got injured again

He started off slowly and he was just getting his poise back when he got injured again. It's tough to play hard when you are recovering from one of the worst grades of concussions.

Wow 3 Rangers in the top 20. Love seeing Cally up that high, he brings it every night and even though he isn't setting the world on fire with goals, he is very important to the team.

Jaimoe

How about worst back-checker? Easy call: Ilya Kovalchuk.

I need a facepalm smilie to properly show how I feel about last night's Rangers game. :-[

We suck...Habs won like 1 of their last 6 and they embarass us. Like Ive said for over a month now, even if we start playing better and do make the playoffs, no way we actually win a series.

On another note, Luca Caputi scored a goal on his 1st NHL shift. Last Pens player to do that was Lemieux. Keep this kid up here Shero/Therrien. I can already tell hes infinitely better than Minard, Stone, and all those other bums weve been calling up. Before the game was over, he was already playing on Sid and Geno's line.

Maybe if Graves,Mess and Leetch suited up they would have been able to score on the power play for a change!

I have mixed feelings about Avery coming back to the Rangers, but I guess they need to do something. With the horrible cap number they have now(Redden and Kalinan) I guess this may be the only thing. Great job again Slats!

Isnt this pretty much all rumors and hearsay at this point?? I mean, they might do it, but I think the only reason they would is because theyre slipping right now.

They need something, but not Avery

This was on SNY's Ranger Blog today, I guess it's gonna happen.

EJ Hradek just reported through TSN on NHL Live! that Sean Avery has in fact cleared waivers.

The next move is what the Dallas Stars do — they will likely make an arrangement to have him sent to the Hartford Wolfpack.

Jaimoe

Without Shanahan there to police Avery, it would be foolish for the Rangers to re-sign Avery.

capt. scotty

Is that Hartford team NYR's minor league team?? Because otherwise, I dont see anything conneting him to NYR.

Clearing waivers just means any team can have a chance to get him

Yes, the Wolfpack are the Rangers AHL team. Dallas dosen't have a AHL team so they can let him play for the Wolfpack while they work out the wavier deal.

True. But Dallas will have an AHL affiliate next year. They got out of their deal with the Iowa Stars and will have a team called the Texas Stars next season. Also, Dallas shares their prospects with 4 AHL teams. This isn't uncommon in the AHL.

I for one, would welcome Avery back with open arms, maybe even a peck on the cheek. After the 10-2 game the other night, something needs  to change. Word on the street is that if the Rangers don't look good against NJ tonight, Renney will be out and Schoenfeld will be in.

joey_rogo

Good job Rangers, one of the lamest efforts I have ever seen. Our 4th line was the best. You know, the guys who get paid 800K and are constantly worried about getting sent down. Drury, Gomez, Redden... all HUGE contracts, once again I didn't even notice them. I thought Captain Cash was a stupid nickname, but now I like it. The best part of the game was when Orr KO'd Rupp.

Jaimoe

The Devils are scary good, especially now with Shanahan.

capt. scotty

Wait til they get Brodeur back.

Langenbrunner and Zajac are absolutely on fire, as is Parise obviously

Glad the Pens suck this year because Boston, Washington, or NJ would be tough to beat
