QuoteIm pretty sure Ovenchicken didnt score tonight.

Fleury played like shit, 79% save percentage, and we still took it to OT.

Not getting more than 1 goal in the first period, and those 2 quick goals the Craps got in the 3rd killed us.

I guess Pens wins bore you Mickey, because Im pretty sure the Pens won 3 in a row after your last post in here where you called for the Craps sweep.

Yes, that and the Caps scored more goals then the Pens.
Hey, we'll take it anyway we can get it even if it means getting outplayed for 2/3 or the game.

2nite should be fun.  Finally gonna crawl out of our caves and go to sports bar for some game 7 DRAMA

I did not expect that type of game, but hot damn, did I enjoy the fuck out of it.

Ovie had plenty of goals this series, but I think it's clear who the best player on the ice was. I will even admit myself, going into the playoffs I thought Malkin was better than Crosby. I was wrong. Crosby is playing the best hockey of his career thus far. If Crosby had the type of net presence he's had in the playoffs, and especially this series, he would score 40-50 goals each year.

And like I said in the 1st round after game 3, Fleury NEVER has back to back bad games. He hasnt had a "great" game yet this series, but he played fantastic until the game was obviously out of the Caps hands.

I'd rather have the Canes because that means we get home ice, but after tonight's game, I could care less.

Pens are going to the Cup. Mark it DOWN.

This is you know. I gotta give it to the Pens. They DOMINATED tonight. >:(

As long as you keep a straight face...

I'm glad Pitt won. It will just be that much sweeter to watch them lose in the Cup.

Pens = Buffalo Bills of the 90's

last night's game 7 was one of the worst game 7s i've ever seen. congrats to the pens, but sheesh, couldn't you have kept it a little closer?? haha i wanted DRAMA, not DOMINATION. first the rangers went out, then my caps bandwagon crashed and burned, i think now i'll switch it out west and get myself a native american headdress and some war paint. please just please no detroit/pens final, im sick of seeing them.

also, espn has been unusually 'nice' to the nhl as of late. even the around the horn guys are giving praise. some may see this as espn finally giving the nhl the respect it deserves, but i see this as the suits at espn telling their crews to compliment it because perhaps there is a new tv deal in the works.... (and wouldnt that mean that espn could use the old HNIC song because tsn owns it now?)

capt. scotty

So you were rooting for the team that knocked your team out of the playoffs?!! I could never do that.

Hell, I wouldnt of minded a close game, but Im glad we dominated them. We won 4 of the last 5, and outplayed them in every game IMO. Im so glad I dont have to hear about how Ovenchicken is the hands down best player in the league anymore. Nice hit you put on Backstrom in the 3rd period too OV!  ;D

Well, ESPN really got on its knees for the Pens/Caps series. I havent seen SC, ATH, or PTI really talk much about any other series than that one. Considering the Final 4 could be PIT, BOS, DET, and CHI, I think that's a really interesting couple of matchups and potential SCF matchup. We'll see if ESPN gives it the attention it deserves.

Im pretty sure Versus contract either ends after this year or next. I really hope they go back to ESPN this time instead of taking more money to stay with Versus. Im not one of those people who thinks the NHL would become 1 of the most popular sports if its on ESPN or something, but it wouldn't hurt. And you would get much more coverage on Sportscenter I believe than the 5 minutes they show 50 minutes into Sportscenter.

The Pens/Caps series just showed how hockey can gather the interest of a casual sports fan. On Mike & Mike yesterday, 70% of the people on the poll of the day said they would tune into Game 7 last night. Thats unheard of for hockey, and especially from a diverse group of listeners like those of M&M.

There's been many media-spawned rumours that ESPN is seeking a deal with the NHL. That would be great news. Does anyone watch Versus?

I do when its the only option for a Pens game, but thats it.

Another reason I forgot to mention is Versus announcers/commentators blow, so once again, I hope ESPN gets the NHL back.

Im almost positive its the only major sport they dont have any coverage of. Hell, they even broadcast bowling, billiards, and poker. How dont they have the NHL back yet?!

QuoteSo you were rooting for the team that knocked your team out of the playoffs?!! I could never do that.

I told myself that if the rangers missed the playoffs, which they almost did, I would root for the caps. Between my OV mancrush and my strange love for Tom Poti, I could not root against the caps once the rangers got knocked out. It's funny how much I absolutely hated them during the rangers series though, and then I was forced to turn that hate back to the positive side for the pens series haha. It certainly wasn't one of those 'if ya can't beam em, join em' type of things.

And yeah, espn has only been paying attention to caps/pens because of the superstars. The only time I heard pti mention the boston series was when Ward got 'suckerpunched.' Like you said, espn won't immediately revive the nhl, but it would certainly help. I could spend all day bashing versus, but I'll just fast forward to my biggest complaint: SHOW THE F*CKING ANTHEMS!! That is one of the best things about the playoffs, the whole crowd gets into it. The canadian stations always show them and it is great. Hopefully espn would do the same.

O yeah, and espn's coverage of bowling is AWESOME. The commentators are hilarious.

Whats everyone's picks for tonight?

I like Anaheim in the West. They actually had a better road record this year than at home, and I think theyve outplayed DET for the majority of the series.

Maybe Im just hoping Carolina wins, but Im taking Carolina as well. I picked them to win Game 7 vs NJ as well when everybody seemed to think no way NJ loses with Brodeur in game 7, but we know how that worked out. Boston has won the last 2, it will be that much harder to win 3 in a row vs. Ward who has been 1 of the best goalies from the all-star break on. If Boston gets up early I think it will be hard for the Canes to come back, but we'll see. Eric Staal is the key to the game. He needs to get a goal or a couple points I think for Carolina to win this.

It's a LONG shot for my Blackhawks.  But it should be a great series whoever they play.

That's a reach man.

I like the Flyers, who I knew was a VERY long shot to beat the Pens.

You have a deeper team and a better goalie...

I can't believe the Pens let the Caps take it to seven games...

I think the Hawks have a decent shot. Wings, despite having Hossa, are not/have not been playing as good this year as last. I actually think Hawks match up better vs. Wings than Ducks.

They would have a good shot vs. Ducks though because you never know what Hiller could look like next series

The game tonight will be tight only if Getzlaf is healthy. He's been playing hurt for the last three games, but everything the Ducks do goes through him first. He's the heart-and-soul of the team.

let the Caps take it to 7 games?! We were down 0-2 and still won the series. Kind of hard to win 4 in a row  ::)

How bout that sweep Mickey?!  ;D :P

The Flyers weren't a long shot. In fact, I believe they were the favourite given that the Pens fought hard to get into the playoffs. However, the Flyers are always undone by crappy goaltending.
