We obviously needed that one. I thought we outplayed them in a 2-2 first period, but they certainly outplayed us in the 2nd period. 3rd period, it seemed like we flipped the switch and knew it win this game or its over, and we dominated.

Once we got the GWG, looked like we smelled blood and just kept attacking. Detroit is so well coached its ridiculous. They have talent top to bottom, but their entire team sticks to the gameplan and executes it to near perfection. Once they were down with 10 or so minutes left in the 3rd though, it was apparent how they needed to change that and we exploited it and became more offensive.

Im no coach or anything, but I think we should try to attack more when were tied or down. Every other series in the playoffs tells me were faster, have a better cycle, and can beat defenses when we have an offensive mind, but I think theyve shied away from that this series often. It hasnt necessarily hurt us because I think this series has been extremely close with the Wings getting most of the bounces, but whenever we crash the net, we seem to be at our best.

I think this was clearly the case in the 2nd period after the wings scored.

They have a great defense, but I feel like at times they almost dictate our play and that isnt goood for the Pens.

Whenever we play offensively and dont worry about turnovers and such, we are clearly the better team.

I was amazed to hear people like Buccigross and other say they expect Pens in 6 after still being down 1-2, but I think when we play our game, were definitely the better team. Detroit's great PP doesnt look so great anymore either.

I thought Crosby was a Conn Smythe lock regardless of the outcome of this series, but I think Malkin has moved ahead of him. I think he's the first player with over 30 pts in the playoffs in 8 years or something, and he has 35 right now I believe.

Great game from the top 3 young Pens guns: Malkin, Crosby and Staal (he scored the turning-point goal). Even Don Cherry said Malkin - if Pitt wins - is the Conn Smythe favourite... so far.

I know Datsook isnt 100% and I have a feeling having him on the ice is actually going to hurt them more than help them. And you know Orpik, Cooke, and Geno will be lining him up all night.

Cleary banged up as well.

I hope Hossa is once again non-existent and we get 1 step closer to making him look like a dumbass for leaving the Pens and going to Detroit.

Hopefully Fleury comes thru for the Pens tonight, they probably need him too.

I think were going to win tonight, but I dont know about game 7. Yeah, its game 7 so like they say its "anyone's game", but Im much less confident of them winning that than I was going into game 5.
