QuoteI feel like a dick, here you are enjoying yourself with Gabbo and I start mudslinging.

You're right.

Here's to enjoying good times, and USA hockey!

haha no probs Walts [smiley=beer.gif]

nothing wrong with some mudslinging from time to time.

joey_rogo

O man Walts, Gabbo's groin is acting up again. He will sit tonight. :( You appear to be on the right track with the 'mudslinging.'

joey_rogo

Well the Rangers are pretty much done. They have a HUGE game coming up @ Boston this weekend, but I dont feel very confident after their lackluster performances this week.

So for the postseason, I guess I'll pull for the Kings out west and anyone besides BUF, NJD, PIT, and PHI in the east.

And props to the Bruins for standing up for Savard last night.

Jbones72

I'd actually be happy with The Rangers not making the playoffs & getting the #8 pick, if Slats wasn't the one doing the drafting. Although he's done ok recently(Cally, Dubinsky), in his 9 years he doesn't have a great draft history.

My high school team was on sportscenter last week. They gave up 4 goals in less than a minute at the state tournament. Niiice!

Finished 1st in the regular season, and now in the championship game of fantasy hockey this week.

Walt, I know you play fantasy hockey, so let me know if you agree with this: I think this year Ive realized hockey, as opposed to football, has a lot of luck involved. What I mean by luck though, is a team that doesnt appear to be as good, actually ends up being better than other teams. For example, I list 2 teams for you below. Which do you think is my first place team? (We have deep/flexible starting lineups: 2C, 2LW, 2RW, 2W, 2F, 2D, 2Utility)

C Travis Zajac
C Brad Richards
C Derek Roy
C/LW Patrick Elias
C Alex Steen
C Steve Ott
LW Ilya Kovalchuk
LW Simon Gagne
LW Ryane Clowe
LW James Neal
LW Jussi Jokinen
RW Martin St Louis
RW Chris Stewart
RW Martin Havlat
RW Jakub Voracek
D Mike Green
D Tyler Myers
G Evgeni Nabokov
G Jimmy Howard
G Cam Ward
G Jonas Gustavsson

OR

C Joe Thornton
C Pavel Datsyuk
C Paul Stastny
C Tomas Plekanec
C Mikke Koivu
C Chris Drury
C David Krejci
LW Dany Heatley
LW Thomas Vanek
LW Mason Raymond
LW Ray Whitney
LW Paul Kariya
RW David Backes
RW Brian Gionta
RW Teemu Selanne
RW Blake Wheeler

Congrats on your success! Well, I'm going to say that the top team is your number 1 team. I am right?
I got first in my money league, 2nd or 3rd in free leagues. I really enjoy fantasy hockey. It moved into my top 2 fantasy sports.

Good work on the money league.... before I tell you which team is mine, I was wondering what makes you think the first team listed is better?

Some shitty goaltending by Fleury (and Johnson) tonight.

Im mostly pissed that Ovie got his 48th goal on an empty netter with 2 seconds left. If he wins the scoring title because of that....  >:(

I felt that empty netter coming and even said out loud seconds before..."I just hope Ovechkin doesn't get the empty netter".  :-/
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I guess...Thorton was banged up during the playoffs. Jimmy Horward is awesome, and Huet lost his job. Chara underachieved this year. Cam Ward got hot. Jussi Jokinen was really good the second half of the season. Also, you mentioned that the better team on paper didn't do as well. And going off of names the second had better ones.

Fantasy hockey is really about hot goalies. I had Brain Elliot, Niemi, Horward, and Ryan Miller in my money, and they went crazy in the playoffs.

QuoteSo...was I right?

Yes, you were. Forgot to tell you  ;D

Although Ward somehow I miraculously picked up a couple weeks ago. I actually had Emery/Leighton for most of the year but that flamed out.

My point though was, even with a few guys on that other team not having their best years, that team looks just about as good as mine to me, especially since he had Brodeur and Theodore minding the net. What really surprises me though, is I came in first, and that team came in 9th out of 10, I finished with like 423 point to his 325 or so.

To me, those teams look pretty comparable, and although I enjoy fantasy hockey, something like that makes me raise an eyebrow

Thank you Leafs. Because you traded your #1 picks in 2010 and 2011 to Boston for Phil Kessel, the Bruins will either draft Taylor Hall (#1 prospect) or Tyler Seguin (#2, but some think he'll go #1) in this year's upcoming entry draft; both players are projected superstars a la Steven Stamkos.

They gave up that much for Kessel?! Oof

I can't believe they gave up two first-rounders for Kessel; trading one first-rounder would have been a decent deal, both ways. If the Leafs suck next year too, then Boston will get another great player and perhaps another #1 or #2 overall. I don't know who is projected as the top picks for next year's draft, but the first 5 for 2010 are blue-chippers, in particular Hall and Seguin. And to think Seguin didn't make Canada's world junior team this year (he and Hall were 1-2 in OHL scoring this season, which is rare for under-18 year-olds).

After the game ended they said they changed it to Guerin. Did they change it back again?

Great game!!! Even if they don't make it, or if they do and get bounced in the first round it's nice to see them not lying down. I rarely give Slats credit for anything but claiming Christensen & trading for Prust & Shelley turned out to be great moves. Good role guys that they will need if they want to improve next season.
