QuoteRolen's the best fielding third baseman I've ever seen.

I don't know how old your are, but this guy was the human vacuum cleaner. He was my favorite third baseman when I was a youngster.

I have very vague recollections of watching Brooks play, but I was a fairly young Tyke player back near the end of his career. He was the best for sure. Jays skipper Cito Gaston thinks Rolen is the best he's ever seen defensively.

Turns out that the "Player-to-be-named-later" in the Adam Dunn trade to Cincy was Micah Owings.  I actually like that trade for my Reds.

thats a snag w/volesques or however you spell it and arroyo you got a nice rotation goin on

aMillionDreams

especially if Harang can get back to form!

I grew up rooting for Ken Griffey Jr and to o some extent Adam Dunn but I really like the direction the team has taken with these trades.  We've got great young talent and our rotation is coming up to snuff.  Bullpen is decent and we're getting hot now that we're completely out of the race.  But I'm already thinking about next year.

The Jays just hammered the Red Sox in the first game of their double-header 8-1. My Jays gotta take the next two for a shot at the post-season. If we lose tonight, GO RAYS!

Mike and Mike were giving Rays fans hell for not coming close to selling out last night's game.  That is pretty bad though.  Bo Sox in town, in the heat of a historic pennant race and one third of the seats are empty?  Shame, shame.

Allright.  This is so tired.  There was over 32,000 fans at the Trop last night - a sellout is 36,000.  I ain't too hot at math, but something tells me 32/36 is greater than 2/3.

The recent Boston/New York every night is a sellout is a recent trend - when the Yankees sucked in the 80's seats were eay to come by; same for the Sawx.  As for the rest of the majors (with some exceptions) no new stadium plus sucky team = empty seats.

The Rays have been the worst North American organized professional sports organization for 10 years.  The previous ownership group continually shit on even the most loyal of fans and the ushers at the Trop acted like SS stormtroopers.  The Trop is universally hailed as the worst stadium in MLB (allthough usually by clueless boobs like Mike and Mike who have never been there - I personally like it).

We have a season ticket base under 2,000, so when our attendance is reported that is the actual crowd, not tickets sold.  They base attnedance on tickets sold.  As our good fortune continues the season ticket base will grow and will start counting every night at 10,000 versus 2,000.

But the attnedance thing is just subterfuge promulgated by jealous reporters based in New York.  The real story is this - we're really good and will be for years; the Yankees are really old and won't be good for at least 4 to 5 years.  No more steriods means teams like the Yankees are dinosaurs.  Teams must be built through youth and the Yankees can't buy youth.

So enjoy the playoffs fellas.
