QuoteIreland's love of Bud
Really? There is something so wrong with this. I cannot stand Bud, Bud Light, Bud Light Lime.

I went to a tiny village pub outside of Courtmacsherry, SW of Kinsale, that sat about 6 people.  The elder local sitting to the left of me continued to order Coors Light ON ICE! :-?

He said he loved it

Bud is all over Ireland - it's one of the country's best selling brands... for some unknown reason. I asked one of my Irish friends about this and he told me that drinking Bud is seen as cool amongst a certain demographic. Overall though, Ireland's beer brand choices are pretty predictable. I travelled all over Ireland two years ago - including the north - and drank every day in pubs and was underwhelmed by the brand choices. Oddly, most wine was imported from Chile.

Well...they're drunks.  ;D Doesn't mean they know whats good and whats not. I know plenty of em' here in the U.S.A. We're all the same.

Bud was highly regarded in Belize when we went there. The owner of the restaurant/hotel proudly paraded around displaying his red and white can while we downed one Belikin after another. Seemed to be some sort of status thing...

QuoteSam's Adams Black Lager is excellent. Most of their "sweeter" varieties suck in my opinion.

Also, InBev had nothing to do with Guinness. InBev does have some excellent brews however.

didnt know Leffe, Hoegaarden, and Spaten were all InBev brews

I had 2 bud light limes due to it being all that was available at a friends a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly, it tasted like skittles. Terrible.  :-X

I was a little surprised by those as well.

Im with Ghosts on both the Cherry Wheat and Golden Monkey. I cant stand those 2. I really like every other Victory Ive ever had though, which is probably at least 10. Sam Adams I could almost say the same thing, but I didnt like the Scotch Ale and 1 or 2 others when I tried them. Their Honey Porter is one I really wish I could be able to find in something besides a variety pack.

Nice to see Weyerbacher get some love. They definitely have some good stuff. Wish I had the chance to try one of those Imperial Pumpkins before they went out of season  :'(

..which reminds me of another thing - I was back home on the weekend of Oct 24th, ready to watch a day full of college football at this bar we usually go to - and I order a Sam Adams Octoberfest. The server says they only have Sam Winter Ale. WTF is THAT when its still OCTOBER !??!!  >:(

Thrilled to see my native New Glarus on the list (I have a bottle of that Raspberry Tart at home right now, actually) and I liked seeing Founders and Dogfish Head so high up on the list.

One question...where's Surly?
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

I think I may have ruined my latest batch of homebrew...oh no!!  I was making a pumpkin ale, and had a few too many to drink while making it...damn 9.0% Dogfishhead IPA's...and I forgot to put in the yeast at the end!!  I did put it in 3 days later, but I fear bacterial contamination.  I contacted the guy where I get my supplies and he said the only real way he knows of to see if it's good is to taste it.  So on Saturday, I'll be doing the taste test and finding out.  Crossing my fingers!
We could.

Good luck, Hawkeye!  My dad just had a similar issue last week...he had a batch that wasn't fermenting.  So he pitched some new yeast and put it in later that week, and it worked.  The finished product won't be ready for a few weeks, but he and my mom both tried some while bottling and they said it tasted good, so they're hopeful!

I've probably already posted why, but I'm not a fan of Magic Hat at all, except that they're excellent training wheels for craft brewing/weaning yourself off the teat of AB/InBev
I'm surrounded by assholes

I have a friend who thinks Magic Hat #9 tastes like lip gloss.   ;D  I dunno, I love the stuff.

And whoever updates their Facebook has great taste in music...lots of MMJ, Phish, and Dead references.  Love 'em!

Im a big fan of #9 and Circus Boy. Maybe Im forgetting 1 or 2 others, but I dont think any of their other selections are any better than okay.

Have you tried the Roxy Rolles?  I seem to recall liking that one.

Dont think so.

I know I had Blind Faith, and a few of their mystery ones.

It looks like they change their Odd Notions every season. I had the Spring 09 one, it was terrible.

After just checking out there site, I actually havent had too many of their brews

I bought the following.

Bell's Two Hearted Ale
Bell's Best Brown Ale
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Laguantis Cappuccino Stout
Bell's Expedition Stout- Fuck this was harsh. Toooooo strong on the roast flavor. Very thick and no carbonation. Strong alcohol flavor.
Bell's Christmas Ale- Excellent. Nice malt flavor (It's a Scottish Ale), sublt hint of Xmas spices, and good carbonation.
Founders Breakfast Stout- Fucking outstanding. Great flavors, no hint of booze flavor. Complex, DRINKABLE, and delicious. I drank it about 10AM.

I downed a few pints of my favourite American pale ale imports last night: Headstrong Pale Ale from Big Hole Brewing Co., Utica, NY. I also had a couple of pints of Kronenboug 1664 and a Devil's 666 (6.6% Canadian micro brew, dark pale ale). Anyone ever had any of the Headstrong beers? They make a decent pils too.
