QuoteI'm dying to see Once. I've seeked out The Frames because of the trailer.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

QuoteONCE.  I've never been IN love.  I've loved someone with everything in me but they're two different things.  This movie made me yearn to be IN LOVE.

In-Limbo, was probably an alternate name for this movie!

Hi Forum, I'm New!!!!

Hi, ta - and welcome to the board.

Yes of course, but that was when it first came out in the theatre. I know some of the the particulars regarding Once and I can't wait to see it.

I loved the Commitments & whilst everyone else in the UK went crazy for Andrew Strong (for about 6months) my friends & I discovered Glen Hansard & The Frames. Can't wait to see Once, no release date here though so I'll have to wait for the DVD.

There's no way Once would get released in Japan. It's only playing in limited release in major cities in North America. The DVD will do just fine with a good sound-system.

the pick of destiny.  hilarious.  i'm a huge d fan though

Hannibal Rising, it wasn't all that good. It could've been a lot better. There was nothing really thrilling about it. Next movie to watch that i've rented is Lonsome Jim, anyone see it?
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Keeping Mum - a black comedy from 2006 with Rowan Atkinson, Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas. A really funny little comedy.

Children of Men - I liked it, but didn't love it.

Currently watching (4 the 8th time) Trainspotting  :o  Love it!

Ghosts_on_TV

I just watched Apocalypto. I liked it a lot. And the science of sleep, which I also enjoyed, but the ending could have been better.

Yes, Caine was excellent.

A'ight...I saw Knocked Up when I was on Vacation. Both my wife and I found it brilliant. The movie was a riot and almost as funny was watching the 50somethings getting up and leaving about 1/2 way through the movie. I have a feeling Judd Apatow can do no wrong.

Just saw Apocalypto and it was so good!
Great job, Mr. Gibson!

MMJ_fanatic

Attempted to watch Rushmore a couple weekends back and found it completely unentertaining, just didn't find Jason Schwartzman all that funny... :-/

Just recently watched City of Lost Children and really loved the cinematography--plus the kid who played Ron Perlman's little brother is great (even with no lines).

P.S.--all you Trainspotting fans please tell me more about the entertainment value of junkies hanging out shooting up--I do understand there was a small plot about making a big score with a case of drugs and Ewan McGregor's character struggling to breakout of the life of a junkie but other than that I really would like to try to understand people's fascination with drug use here.

P.P.S.--I thought Aronofsky did drug use more artfully in "Requiem for a Dream"...
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

La Vie En Rose, a biopic about Edith Piaf.  :'( See it!

Big Trainspotting and Requiem fan bro.

Renton -  'Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday night. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?'

I am not into drugs, the Trainspotting script is great. Danny Boyle is a good director too. Now Darren Aronofsky... :o Just my humble opinion.

kiss kiss bang bang

....

i think the thing with trainspotting is that it doesn't glamourise or trivialise serious drug-use which a lot of films do. i've never seen another film which deals with these kinds of issues in such a no-holes barred kind of way, but still with a (very warped) sense of humour... you see the havoc it wreaks, the psychological and physical toll it takes... and that there is a choice. not everyone can make the choice, or they make the "wrong" choice, but its always there

obviously haven't seen requiem for a dream, but i've heard that's a pretty powerful film as well

love a song for the way it makes you feel
