QuoteI would watch them chronologically only because 24/7 is the weakest of the 4. It's a not a bad little film but the other 3 are far better. You'll probably enjoy it more if it's the first one you watch, not having to compare it to the movies that followed. Can't wait to hear your thoughts Mark!

Right - chronological it is.  One a night this week.  I can't tell you how much the wife is looking forward to gritty skinhead-based viewing.  ;)

QuotePan's Labyrinth.  It's been sitting in my to-watch pile for months.  What an excellent film.
Guillermo Del Toro to direct the Hobbit?

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

QuoteJust got Once, Eastern Promises & Eagle Vs Shark in the mail!  :D

I'll vouch for Once and Eastern Promises being excellent films. Make sure to crank up Once. The music performances are utterly powerful and emotional. Eastern Promises is better all-round than Cronenberg's previous film, A History of Violence.

somebody mentioned once to me.  maybe i'll rent it today.

eastern promises was really good.  i'm not a big vigo fan usually, but he was excellent.  i also thought the combination of lots of tattoos and nakedness was a really good choice on dc's part.  the tattoos portion of the dvd extras was very interesting.  and then i thought, man, what if you're a tattoo artist, and some russian guy comes in and wants a couple of stars on his chest.  scary.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this movie & want to watch it again.

Regarding the tattoos, the huge Russian buildings on his back were outrageous/excellent!

I like Peter Jackson's LOTRs trilogy but I don't think they're the masterpieces that so many claim them to be. I'd like to see someone else direct the Hobbit & I think Guillermo Del Toro could do an excellent job.

I did greatly enjoy LOTR but I have soooo wanted the Hobbit to be made. The whole part with being in Mirkwood and the escape and Laketown. Man I cannot wait! Yes I am a Giant Dork

Just got back from Utah where i got some good boarding in as well as a couple movies....

the mysteries of pittsburgh - so i know a lot of Chabon fans, but i haven't read his work.  i think i will now!  i do not have a point of reference to do the whole novel vs. film critique.  but i really liked the movie.  and i so loved peter sarsgaard in this film, the man is a genius in regards to melting into the role.  it has not been sold as of yet, but i think it will (stars peter sarsgaard, sienna miller, & nick nolte who was brillz).  nice q & a afterwards with the director and producer.

csny/deja vu - a documentary following the neil inspired csny "freedom of speech" tour of 2006.  this tour was a direct result of neil's amazing drive for peace.  they know that they will ruffle feathers and along the way, but neil felt compeled and asked the rest of the band if they were interested.  David Crosby at one point tells him, "we believe in your music, kid".  my other fav quote of Crosby's was when he said (and i paraphrase), CSNY is not a democracy.  it is a dictatorship, and our benevelont dictator is Neil.  so the movie is not a concert film, per se, but a documentary of the ride.  michael cerre "imbeds" himself with the tour and interviews many along the way on their views of the war in iraq.  CSNY has many iraq war veteren supporters and shares their stories in the war and at home with recovery from the war.  i loved this film.  i love CSNY even more after seeing it.  they may be peace-loving-hippies to some, but they are troubadors to me.

Killing John Lennon.

Interesting, Distubing,

In some ways it made me really want to read "The Catcher In The Rye" and in some ways it made me want to NEVER EVER read it.

Mark David Chapman actually said at one point that the devine reason for him killing Lennon was to get more people to read "The Catcher In The Rye"  Very Interesting.

Sundance!  Wow!  Those both sound interesting.  Thanks.

Ha, everyone I run into tells me that I'll love it.  I LOVED the movie Hard Candy.

Apparently there is another movie about the killing of John Lennon coming out with Jerod Leto in it.

Peter Jackson's best movie is King Kong, imo.

We watched Game Plan last night.....my g/f wanted to watch it more than me but I really enjoyed it.The Rock places a real azzhole so that was good....lol...and the little girl is just adorable. It's a cute movie for family night and I was glad I watched it...nothing great though.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - one of the best non-dramatic documentaries I've seen since Super Size Me. It's similar in tone and quality as Super Size Me,  American Movie and Roger & Me . The doc is about a man that tries to beat the 1982 Donkey Kong high score, but the record holder is STILL a bastard with a god complex and won't acknowledge him or his scores. It's funny, bittersweet and uplifting, with a hero and great villain. BTW, the guy trying to beat the score isn't a geek, so we root for him.

"The Lookout"--very good bank robbery movie.  I missed Lay Low but couldn't miss OBH.

"Neverwas"--great great movie featuring a couple of my favorite actors (Ian McKellen and Nick Nolte).  Check it out if you get a chance.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Lay Low was playing when they're in the bar, its in the backgound but you can hear it.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Pollock for the third time, first since getting it on DVD. Incredible story of american artist Jackson Pollock, starring Ed Harris who also directs. Ed Harris IS Jackson Pollock in this film. There's a great Tom Waits song in the end credits too, didn't notice if the song was played during the movie at all.
