QuoteI think it'll be Into The Wild first & DL 2nd. Into The Wild is one of my fav books & I've been wanting to see this for what seems like ages now.
I'll allow that.   :)

Maybe I should add Into the Wild to my reading list, I've picked it up a few times but that's as far as I've gotten.

QuoteI watched The Life Aquatic (for the millionth time) while sick in bed yesterday.
Quite possibly my fav Wes Anderson line of all time..."You heard me Coltrane!"

;D ;D ;D
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Jaimoe

Dan in Real Life - a nice low-key romantic comedy starring Steve Carell
The Mist - campy adaptation of a Stephen King novella by director Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption); not bad though.

Casey Affleck is really impressive in "...Jesse James" and so is Sam Rockwell. Both of them would have deserved the supporting actor oscar in my opinion.

This reminds me I still need to get the fine Nick Cave soundtrack.

IHL

'Lars and the Real Girl' with Ryan Gosling.

Didn't think it would really work, but it does. Good film.

Kimbos_Evil_Bread

Into The Wild.

I don't know why this movie didn't get more recognition.

The DARK

21. Get over it critics. This film was NOT THAT BAD. Sure it's a Hollywood version of the story, but why does that mean that it "has to" conform to the exact way that the story went? Maybe because everything based on a true story, in their mind, needs to be the true story. And the racist slur seems completely pointless to me. Whatever. I left that theatre entertained.
In another time, in another place, in another face

IHL

'The Killing of John Lennon'

Ok to watch if you're into Mark Chapman.....

That said, quite a interesting insight as all the dialogue are the words of Chapman himself following his arrest.

COOL! Oliver Stone is making a movie about George W. Bush! Josh Brolin is going to play W!!! Check it out:

I refuse to let Into the Wild posts go unresponded to, even though nobody gives a shit.  Read the book and let it change your life.  The movie is a very good try and I liked it alot.  For the 700th time - Hal Holbrook does more with 15 minutes of screen time than any actor with any performance in the last ten years; read the book, watch the movie, and you'll get it.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

I think him being nominated was certainly good recognition. Unfortunately there's only one winner and Javier Bardem's performance was easily one of the most startling in the last 10 years.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Lately I've seen:
There Will Be Blood- Very good. Had a definite Kubrick influence, although didn't quite suck me in as much as Kubrick's movies do.
Some other P.T. Anderson movies- really enjoyed Punch-Drunk Love a lot.
The Godfather- I've been meaning to watch for a long time, part 2 and 3 up next.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

sharkwater-if you like sharks as much as i do then you should check it out it is pretty depressing and has inspired me to take action.....here in a little bit

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't seen No Country...  So I wouldn't know; but when I read the book it was Hal Holbrook's portrayal that was in my mind's eye and I read the book ten years before the movie.

Jesse James - brilliant! Beautiful to look at with so many incredible shots & scenes that stick with you afterwards. Both Brad Pitt & Casey Affleck were excellent...anyone recognise Paul Schneider as cousin Jessie for Elizabethtown? It is long & I have to confess that I did find my attention wandering a little @ the start but once I got sucked in it could have gone on & on & I found myself wanting to watch it again the next day.

The Darjeeling Limited - I liked this a lot. Took me a little while to warm to the three brothers but that was obviously the way they were scripted. I didn't think the music had quite the impact it had in his other films, except for Peter Sarstedt & The Rolling Stones...almost forgot how good Play With Fire Is! & how beautiful was Rita?!!
Question: Did nobody else find it strange that the brothers didn't sweat? Here they are running around in India in smart suits & shirts without much more than a warm glow. How could nobody have missed this when they were making the film? Maybe it was intentional?
