QuoteThat is such a great movie. For me it was even better since it was based on real life events. Granted, very loosly based.

I love British and US war films, but by design they've traditionally played around with the facts - for plot and/or patriotic purposes amongst others. Canadians that love WWI and II films (and I'm a proud one), have always had to overlook facts from fiction or we'd never be able to enjoy great movies; Canadians are routinely overlooked or ignored, see The Longest Day, The Great Escape and especially the greatest war film ever, Bridge on the River Kwai.  At least Humphrey Bogart acknowledged his character was Canadian in The African Queen. I'm not mad, I've just grown to expect it.

Watched this today, I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Its made by Happy Madison, the guys who USED to make Adam Sandler movies when they were actually good in teh 90's. No Sandler movie was ever this out of line though. Same people who made 'Grandma's Boy' a couple years back - which was great in itself. This is probably the funniest movie ive seen since then, but not quite as good as a whole. Def laughed out loud more than I can remember. I dont think the preview really does the movie justice since it doesnt show any of teh funniest parts of the movie, which is kind of a good thing. If you like stupid/stoner humor comedies and like movies like superbad, 40 year old virg, etc., youll dig this

And just in case you never saw it, heres Grandmas Boy. My Dad even loved it. magnifico!

Finally got around to seeing the Evil Dead Trilogy-- good stuff. Also rented the original Dawn of the Dead (saw the remake a couple years back), Zombie (the "We Are Going To Eat You! one with the zombie v. shark scene--holy shit!), and Bubba Hotep. Bubba Hotep was alright, but certainly no one's crowning achievement. Dawn of the Dead was a masterpiece of 70s zombie movie and left me feeling really weird afterward. I probably should've started at the very beginning with Romero, but I think Dawn of the Dead is probably sort of one of those points of reference, especially since I'd seen it before?

I'll definitely be working my way back through the canon of great zombie flicks over the next few months. I need to see all of Romero's original ...of the Deads, along with 28 Days Later (again) and 28 Weeks later.

Any other good suggestions? Why do I feel like you've got the scoop on these, Andrew?

Listen up you primitive screwheads...

Army of Darkness has always been my favourite of the trilogy.  I don't really watch many horror/zombie flicks, I should change that.

Saw 'In Search of a Midnight Kiss' last night.

Loved it.

Great soundtrack by Shearwater.

There has never been a better post in the history of the MMJ forum (although I watch horror/zombie flicks, the best recently being Shaun of the Dead).

I think you've already got it covered Tom! Like J said, Shawn Of The Dead is a classic, more comedy than horror though...

Beowulf - better than I expected. A little overlong @ close to 2 hours, dragon was great though...
Prince Caspian - not anywhere near as good/fun/exciting as the first one, which I really enjoyed.
Long Riders - good western but I made the mistake of watching this after Jesse James, lessening it's impact.

The Happening-I liked it, although I'm probally the only person in the entire world who does. Its kinda campy, but if you like all Shamalans(sp?)other movies you should like this one.

The Incredible Hulk-I thought this version was much better than the one from a few years back. I never read the comic, so I'm not sure how "true" to the comic it was. Ed Norton was great in this IMO.
**SPOILER ALERT**

Great cameos by Lou Ferigno(sp?) and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony  Stark!
i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

Memento finally!

Recently viewed:

Across The Universe - It was alright. I don't really like musicals, something about people spontaneously bursting into song that bothers me. But since its Beatles songs, its not bad.

Carlito's Way - I thought it was better than Scarface.

The Boondock Saints - It was Ok, thought I'd like it more than I did.

The Godfather Part III - Definitely not a bad film like some say, I really enjoyed it.

From Hell - Haven't seen this in a long time and I'm glad I recently decided to purchase this. I think its great, even if its not accurate its still an interesting theory that makes for a good story.

I haven't seen any new movies in awhile. I'm anxiously awaiting The Dark Knight, Burn After Reading, and the new X-Files movie.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Have you seen Donnie Brasco? That's another must see Pacino classic.

Yes, I liked it very much. I just finished watching Insomnia, he was excellent as usual in that as well.

What about Serpico? Heat? The Insider? Dog Day Afternoon? Sea Of Love? All excellent Pacino movies.

Going to see 'Killer of Sheep' on Monday night. I don't think it's ever had a dvd release but have been keen to see it for a couple of years.

Saw 'Hoop Dreams' the other night. Excellent. The mother of all documentaries. Very good.

Lovefilm have delivered 'Sixteen Candles' to my abode. Not what I ordered, but is it worth 93 minutes of my life ??

Killer Of Sheep is excellent, so is Hoop Dreams. Have you seen Paradise Lost parts 1&2? Best documentaries I've ever seen FREE THE WEST MEMPHIS THREE!!! http://www.wm3.org/splash.php

...haven't seen 16 Candles is years!  ;D

Just watched The Fountain - I wanted to like it as I loved Requiem For A Dream but sadly it was a mess. It wasn't without it's moments & at one point early on i thought it had real potential but unfortunately Hugh Jackman stank & the whole thing failed as the piece of art it was trying so hard to be. Movies can be beautiful pieces of art (I simply can't get the spellbinding Jesse James out of my head + I love Terrence Malick's work) but this one failed IMO.
