Yep, saw it earlier today. Not sure how I feel about it as there were a lot of scenes that were not in the book.  :-? However the cave scene looked fantastic.

dragonboy

Yeah I haven't read the book but I have to confess that the trailer didn't really do anything for me, nothing that made me think wow!

Sadly the one movie I wanted them to stay truest to the book and it's not gonna be. Oh well, at least 7 will be in 2 parts so maybe there is hope for it to include just about everything.

Do yourself a favor and read them. 1 is the only one I would consider a "kids" book. The rest get progressivly darker.

Yes you must continue them. 3-7 are just WOW, 6 being my favorite for many many reasons.

Wow...I had no idea! My feeling in this case is don't mess with the classics though, no need for silly prequels, sequels or 'companion pieces'

I LOVE this movie!!! (love this song too)

Frank the Bunny still scares me. Yes, that song is breathtaking. I throw it mixes that I attempt to make.

Also, the little sister ain't so little anymore.

I wouldnt stand by saying dont mess with classics in some cases, but this might very well be the LAST, and I mean LAST, movie that should have a continuation

Unless it gets critically lauded, I dont think I will even watch this movie. It would only ruin everything I love about Donnie Darko.

Donnie - " First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have... reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It's just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?"

Donnie's friend - "Dammit, Donnie. Why you gotta get all smart on us?"

This, really, really pisses me off. Richard Kelly's last movie was horrible so normally I wouldn't care what he does with his career but Donnie Darko is a great movie and I'm sad to see it reduced to this. I hate Hollywood so much.

Richard Kelly has nothing to do with this though. Southland Tales was amazingly bad, disappointing compared to how good Donnie Darko is. I will probably see this but with low expectations. If it sucks, it won't ruin Donnie Darko for me.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I know Richard Kelly isn't making it, but I'm guessing he approved it.

Never heard of Southland Tales until it was a preview on some movie I rented. I really want to see it. Not expecting even a very good movie out of it, but it looked very interesting and entertaining
