I watched Henry King's psychological western The Bravados from 1958, starring Gregory Peck, Lee Van Cleef, Joan Collins, Stephen Boyd and Henry Silva. It was really good and uncompromising.

Broken Flowers.......total waste of time.......don't even rent it.

It's sitting in my pile of unwatched DVDs, I was looking forward to it  :-/
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Watch and enjoy it for what it is: A small, quiet movie that may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's not an easy film, but there are some great characters and a few interesting plot developments. Jim Jarmusch still hasn't made a bad film.

plus, I actually thought Broken Flowers was a wonderful film - how come you didn't like it Rob?

Last night I saw The World's Fastest Indian.  We have given it the title of "The Worst Dialogue in the History of Movie Dialogue" and that includes terrible sections of Godfather III.  In accordance, it gets an honourable mention for "Acting That Was So Bad It Made Me Feel Uncomfortable".

hoLAY.

And yet there were some WONDERFUL moments.  Anthony Hopkins is one of my favourite people to watch on a screen.

Has anyone seen this?

Okay, honestly, it was so bad in points that I considered MANY times that it was a parody.  And YET I recommend it.  It has some really great things to say in there.  And Anthony Hopkins is worth it.

Broken Flowers was great, but I can easily see how some would not like it.

I am actually renting Lost in Translation and Broken Flowers soon and watching them back to back.

paradise lost 2: revelations...

if the first film didn't bum me out enough, the second one was just, OHGOD!!! i'd been to the web site so i knew the boys would still be rotting in jail and i got so angry. that, combined with the 5 police shootings in NW arkansas in the last week or so makes me determined to never even jaywalk around here... scary!

EC, i hear you about crash. i went to see it with my brother and his girlfriend who is bi-racial and it made me really uncomfortable. when jennifer esposito gets out of her car and says "officer, i want it written in your report that i'm shocked to be hi by an asian driver" i felt bad for laughing. i hate to think of myself as prejudiced but sometimes i feel like i hate everybody... i did think there was hope, because like with the st. christopher statuettes, in the end, we all relate to one another as fellow human beings. if you peel off the flesh, we all look the same. there's an image...
i think "for all mankind" is next or our netflix queue and it's the husband's pick, he's into space...
everything sucks. really.

I just thought it was unbearably awkward, completely unrealistic. No-one reacting naturally. Maybe it's the norm in a Jarmusch film for everyone to seem to exist in their own universe, I don't know, haven't seen much of his work. Started getting into the road trip aspect somewhat, but the ending left me high and dry. My best friend raves about Dead Man. I have Lost In Translation here, too.......hope that one's better.

Dead Man is fantastic - William Blake, Iggy Pop, Neil Young - what more do you want from a movie?

i really enjoyed broken flowers - i wasn't really expecting to (maybe jim jarmusch just hasn't caught me on a good day, dunno) but i thought it was great. i love the humour in it, particularly between winston & don. plus this movie cements for me how good an actor billy murray is. for someone who seems to spend a lot of the movie just sitting on the couch, or sitting in the car, the amount of emotion and thought that you can see in his face... just great  :)

love a song for the way it makes you feel

Crash - you gotta watch more than once - great fuckin movie....it should be a required watch movie for humanity

Just saw "Waiting".  Fucking hilarious....if you've worked in a restaurant, you will definitely get alot of the jokes.

wellfleet

wanted to see "waiting" for precisely that reason, but i was worried about it being too gross. i don't want to see someone hack a loogie into a burger... my gag reflex...
everything sucks. really.

i watched harold and maude for the billionth time last night.  there are certain major details that i forget every time i watch it.  i love that.
