QuoteCan somebody tell me if I should go see Taken this weekend? I'm not expecting it to be good, but will it entertain me at least? I'm BORED.

Taken was very good. I enjoyed it more than all of the Bourne movies, except maybe the first one (though dont miscontrue that comparison because they arent alike all that much).

Not sure where Jaimoe saw mixed reviews. On another message board I frequent, it was 90%+ go see it. These werent critics or anything, it was a fantasy football off topic message board.

I only watched it on my computer, but it still rocked my socks. I highly doubt you will be disappointed with it. Go see it.

QuoteJust watched Taken illegally on my computer, and damn, that was a thrill ride. Despite it seeming like one of those "1 and done" movies, I could def watch it again. I cant think of any movie really all that much like it. It reminded me of Frantic with Harrison Ford at first, but then it brings in Hostel-esque elements combined with pure action movie stuff.

I really dont see how you couldnt like this. Anyone who didnt think Neeson could pull this role off hasnt seen Rob Roy.

On a side note, I actually thought this came out like 2 weeks ago. Seems like theyve been airing previews since before Christmas and I was certain it had been in theaters for a bit, then I find out today it was actually released 6 months or so ago in Europe. I cant think of any semi-major english movie that wasnt released in the USA first/at the same time  :-?

This was my review I made a few pages back.

Bored or not, definitely worth the theater trip this weekend  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'm still going to see it. This film is a surprise hit since it was released in the dead zone called January and it was in the can for over a year.

I love Dylan, but I think I wanted to like this more than I actually did.

Blanchett was great in it though.

I thought she was HORRIBLE. I think I'm the only one though. And I usually love her work and think she's one of the best actors around. She didn't even convince me she was a man, much less Bob.

I saw this with a couple of my girlfriends, and the scene where Cate Blanchett gets off the jet to "Positively 4th Street", my friend leaned over to my ear and whispered "he's cute".

I really enjoyed this movie. The first time I saw it I thought, what the hell is this? but I left the theater with a lot to think about. It wasn't meant to be a scene by scene bio pic where the pieces fit together nicely and perfectly, and they all live happily ever after. It's as jumbled and undesipherable as Dylan really is to us. We don't know him, and we can't even begin to know him. I don't think we'll ever know who Dylan really is. When you're watching or listening to anything that has to do with Dylan, you can't really expect answers.

Fainheart - very good little brit-comedy about the strange world of battle re-enactments starring the excellent Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky) Jessica Hynes (Spaced) & Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting)

This was only my 2nd time watching them both. I think they're great but maybe a little overrated? (138 & 213 on IMDB top 250 respectively)
Lots of fun though, can't wait for Inglorious Basterds!

I agree with them being overrated. I think theyre my least favorite Tarantino flicks besides Death Proof, but I still even liked that.

You like Vol 1 or Vol 2 better??

My Personal Tarantino Rankings would probably be:

1) Jackie Brown
2) Pulp Fiction
3) Reservoir Dogs
4) Kill Bill Vol 1
5) Kill Bill Vol 2
6) Death Proof

I have a feeling Inglourious Basterds will end up right in the middle at #4. Higher than that, and it outdoes my expectations based on the story/cast/trailer. Lower, and well, you know.

Vol1 is better than Vol2 I think. It's certainly a lot more fun.

Tough to make a list...

Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill Vol1
Kill Bill Vol2
Death Proof

I really enjoyed Death Proof, only seen it once though...

1 is better then 2. Dogs is better then Pulp. Only Seen Jackie once so I cannot really judge it. Is Death proof the one with Kurt Russell and the chick with the shotgun leg?

Shotgun leg was Planet Terror

That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I just watched Reservoir Dogs for the second time last night. I've never seen Kill Bill Volume 2, wasn't that into volume 1. I'd like to give them a second chance though.

Death Proof is the one with Kurt Russell (Shotgun leg Rose McGowan is in the other Grindhouse movie directed by Robert Rodriguez)

Just interested to know, why do you think RD is better than Pulp?? I can see how some people might like it more, but just wondering why.

Reverse Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction and that's my list. I thought Death Proof sucked.

Better story, better acting, grittier. I do love Pulp, just like Dogs better. Plus, you get this glorious spoof.
