Are you counting home movies?

I think Ive seen him in like 5 movies over the last 10 years
I was being slightly smarmy, but seriously, look at his credits. Look how things he's done in the last few years. Granted most is shite.

Michael Madsen's done over 100 roles since 2000. A lot of them are TV but still, that's pretty insane. He's had major roles in a lot of them too.

Michael Madson is actually a decent actor, at least he plays great psychos. Hence my smarmyness about the great Eric Roberts.

I agree on Madsen, but I actually think Eric Roberts is a very good actor. For whatever reason though, in the early 90's he got thrown into the D-List actor group and never seemed to really make a comeback. It was nice to see him in the Dark Knight and his brief role in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints recently though.

If youve seen Pope of Greenwich Village, you know he clearly was a great talent that got lost in the shuffle

I see a lot of similarities in the films of Inarritu and Meirelles. I think City Of God is the best out of all of them, but I think Inarritu has been more consistent.
Liked Rescue Dawn a lot. I've notcied a few Herzog fans here, what should I see next? I'm not certain how easy it is to find his movies around here, I usually notice Grizzly Man when looking at DVD's.

I think most of Herzog's movies are documentaries, but I could be wrong.

Liked Rescue Dawn myself, though probably not a lot.

City of God is definitely better than any Inarritu movie.

I bought Religulous because you can't rent it here.(rural South Central Ky.)
It was clever and definitely worth the purchase price.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,

Not bad but not great. I can watch anything with Julianne Moore though, she at least makes decent films better.

Man, Im totally bummed the Mick' didnt win for best actor. I love Sean Penn, but he gets tons of recognition, has been nominated a handful of times, and I think had won at least 2 before tonight (Dead Man Walking, Mystic River). Rourke though has been underrated for his entire career, really went through rough times in the 90's, and to make a comeback like he has and give a performance like he did, I thought deserved to win it. I caught his interview on a Barbara Walters special before the awards, and it was hard to watch. I feel bad for the guy.

I liked how they presented the acting nominees with previous winners, pretty cool. But how about Alan Arkin doing Hoffman's and calling him "Seymour Philip Hoffman"  :o ;D .....not only does he get the guy's name wrong, but he's a pretty famous actor who has won a best actor Oscar for christs sake!! Arkin is never going to present anything for the rest of his life now  ;D

Still haven't seen The Wrestler, looking forward to it. Glad to see Heath Ledger get the award for The Joker. As the show went on I figured Slumdog would get the major awards, everything just seemed to be going their way. Wasn't too disappointed by many of the results, there wasn't many movies I was really pulling for. Last year was better for me, seeing No Country dominate. I wanted In Bruges to win for best screenplay, one of my favorites of 2008. I haven't seen Milk so I can't really compare.

I wasnt worried about Ledger not winning, but glad he did too. Betting sites had him a -2500, so if you bet 100$ on him, you wouldve only won 3.75$ (I think)....Like a said, he was a virtual lock. Nice that his family accepted too, I was wondering who they were going to have accept it. The crowd looked real sad, looked like a few were 2 milliounces away from a tear dropping.

Burn After Reading

Now there were a lot of bad to meh reviews on this so I think thats why it took me so long, but I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the scene with the 2 feds about an hour in sums up the movie great when the guy at the desk says, "well, i guess just get back to me when any of this makes sense". I thought the characters and acting carried this movie and were very strong. Brad Pitt (who is really 1 of the best character actors of this generation) and John Malkovich were brilliant and I thought both were hilarious. Frances McDormand was good (but Ive liked a few of her other characters, Coen and not, more) and so was George Clooney, but I felt like Ive seen Clooney play a guy similar to that before.

The story was what it was and nothing outstanding or groundbreaking, but I thought the 4 main characters were all great and there were some seriously funny lines and scenes. I think after No Country the expectations were higher than usual for this which is why so many people thought it was okay at best, but I liked it a good bit. That said, not sure I understand what Ive seen some people say about how it gets better with more viewings, it actually seems the opposite to me since the story is only so-so and the characters are more shocking than moving, and everything is really right there in your face to see. I think some of their movies like Big Lebowski, Fargo, or Barton Fink fit the "gets better with more viewings" mold because theres so much going on and youre just so blown away the first the first time that you keep picking up new things each time you watch it after that. And the nuanced performances, especially in those first 2, just add to that even more.

Id put Burn After Reading somewhere around 7-9 as my favorite Coen's movie probably.
