Anyone seen We Own The Night? I like Joaquin Phoenix a lot & thought he was great in Reservation Road, which also got average/poor reviews in the press...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I liked We Own the Night a lot, 1 of my favorite movies from 2007 probably. Phoenix pretty much brings his A game every movie IMO, so of course he's good, and Mark Wahlberg and Robert Duvall were good as well.

I also enjoyed Righteous Kill though (but not as good as We Own The Night), so maybe I just like cop movies with some of my favorite actors a lot  ;D

Videodrome is being remade.  I hate Hollywood.

Thanks, I've added We Own...to my rental list.

Hate Hollywood? I guess you didn't see the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still? I do not need to add a happy face to this comment.

But really, Videodrome?  It's perfect.  Leave it alone you uninspired hacks.

'09 and '10 are the year of remakes it seems. I was up late and f'n lazy to change the channel after Chelsey Lately was over and some crappy news show and E came on and Footloose, Fame, Karate Kid and several other 80's hits are being remade. Fucking ugh, why? I really can't stand the originals and remakes will just be atrocious. Where to fuck is the creativity in this?

Hollywood has not soul, anymore. This news isn't surprising. The Day The Earth Stood Still in cinematic perfection, and yet it was remade.

Death Proof. THAAAAAAT is a movie! God I love Quentin Tarantino.

I personally really enjoyed both that and Rodriguez's Planet Terror myself.

I saw DProof awhile before PTerror, but I found both entertaining and engaging.

I expect Inglourious Basterds to exceed both

Actually, I didn't really care for Planet Terror. The guys will disagree, but Rose McGowan ruined it for me. And don't even think about eating while watching this movie.

Certainly, they are totally different movies with different purposes.

I would probably expect most people to favor 1 over the other, but I saw each individually, and like each almost as much as the other.

Not so sure what you're saying with Rose McGowan really matters either (and IMO, she didnt seem like too much of a main character in there), but Death Proof didnt only have Rose also, it had Rosario Dawson, Sidney Poitier's daughter, the lapdance girl, the "movie star" cheerleader girl, the race car driver girl, etc. Basically, a lot more sexy estrogen than Planet Terror.

Anyone who hasn't seen The King of Kong must do so asap.  One of my favourite docs in recent memory.

Now I never watched the show Star Trek or any of the movies, but is it just me or do the previews of this movie make it look like a cross between Jumper and X-Men more than a Star Trek movie?!  :-?
