The Majestic

I think I remember hearing it was crap, which was why it took me 8 years to watch it, but it was well done. It definitely helped that Frank Darabont was the director, and 1 of the last scenes is truly just a great movie scene. I think I actually remember my teacher in my film class showing the scene as an example for things such as lighting, background, sound layering, etc.

Carrey was great in a role that was definitely his most serious up to that point and probably still showed they least of his comedic side outside of maybe Eternal Sunshine. He carried the movie.

Overall just an enjoyable, all around well made film

Wendy and Lucy.

So sad, but Michelle Williams is a brilliant actress.

"Remember the Woody Allen of the seventies, the guy who several generations of New Yorkers decided was the comedic poet laureate of their era of the city? The man with whom they had a great first date (1973's Sleeper) that deepened into a full-on relationship (1977's Annie Hall) and then further enriched itself into true love (1979's Manhattan), because we always fall in love with the one who makes us laugh? Whatever Works is, in essence, the missing movie from that period—the film that would have rounded out the New York phase of Allen's early career if only he had made it."

Now that has me really excited.

QuoteFrost/Nixon - a really interesting and well-done film. I like some of Opie's movies (but The Da Vinci Code is one of the worst pieces of cimematic crap I've ever seen), and this may be his most engaging directing job. Michael Sheen nails Frost and Frank Langella is near-perfect, although his exaggerated speech and mannerisms reminded me a bit of Rich Little and other famous Nixon immitators over the years, but it never got in the way of the role. Langella's Nixon was best in the reflective private scenes. All the support characters were fantastic, especially Matthew Macfadyen.

Cool...I really want to see that.

Oooh, I want to see that too.

The Incredible Hulk

Pretty good. Actually, I think I liked it more than Iron Man was my favorite non-Batman superhero movie. Norton was good as usual, and Tim Roth was cast perfectly as the nemesis. That guy brings his A game for every role. I thought the action scenes were fantastic.

I kind of want to see the Hulk movie that came out 5 or so years ago with Eric Bana now. I doubt its as good, but Id just like to compare. Ang Lee directed it and Nick Nolte is in it, how bad could it be?

Spoiler (highlight it): So based on the ending when Ghostface Killah makes a cameo, does that mean Iron Man is going to hunt down Hulk?! I know theyre making an IM2, does that mean Norton/Hulk are going to have a big part in it? Not sure if I like that or not because I dont think you could give RDJr and Norton both the screentime they deserve, plus where's the villain?!

Havent seen it yet, but I thought the first one was decent. About what I expected, not great and not terrible

I thought the first one was OK but being a fan of Mike Mignola original comics I was disappointed overall.
I read that this had a bigger budget & thought the trailers looked good but it was just a mess.
It surprised me to learn that MM was an executive producer, surely he be can't be happy with what they did to his character? Hellboy in the comics is so much darker, in this movie he's just a joke.
Some of the monsters were fun but the script was just dire. My wife watched it reluctantly after I told her it would be a 'fun monster movie' but I was embarrassed that I had recommended it & I cringed the whole way through!

Luke Goss was probably the best thing about the film  ;D

'ere 'ere! Hobbit is one of my all time favorite books and I was so hoping Peter Jackson was going to get to do it. Granted there were changes in LOTR from book to film that I was not happy with, but the trilogy (extra special yes I am a major dork DVD box sets) are beyond brilliant.

I have those DVDs, lovely box sets! Peter Jackson is producing & writing the screenplay (with Guillermo del Toro & 2 others) so there's still hope. After seeing Pan's Labyrinth I was excited to learn that Del Toro is directing but after seeing Hellboy2 I'm a little worried...

whew, there is hope then if PJ is involved. Honestly, the book isn't that long so there shouldn't be much if anything cut out... except the ballads that are througout the book. The escape from Mirkwood and the Battle of 5 Armies promises to be movie magic!

The film adapatation of The Hobbit is going to be two films, and not a third one which would have acted as a continuation.

Jackson will be pretty hands-on as a producer. He's also doing the screenplay and will be on-set.

OK, if it's 2 films there shouldn't any reason to cut anything.

That is their philosophy. I can't wait.
