QuoteA lot of that shit was rigged, though. Kinda disappointed about the Alabama shots being so brief... The funniest parts of his movies are when he interacts with rednecks.
"Well I'm Donny"  That was my favorite
"It's just zis bear took my clothes. He took everything apart from these condoms. " I pretty much lost what little control I had at that point.

The Alabama stuff was not stagged apparently. It got heated at one point.
That was great.  I'll preface this by saying my girlfriend had already seen the movie.  We walk in the theatre and sit down behind a family of five  (with two boys that couldnt have been twelve).  My girl looked to me and said "they're gonna be gone in about five minutes".  Well after Bruno and his little boyfriend had their escapade and I could wipe the tears from face I realized the family had left.  That could be pretty disturbing for a youngster.  You'd think the parents wouldve done a little research.

Haha...my friend took her 9 year old daughter not knowing it would be pretty much an X rated film.

That's good parenting there for ya. Yeah the escapade scene is up there with the fight scene from Borat.

Away We Go. Dave Eggers (the screenwriter, along with his wife, and a brilliant novelist) will never let me down. Great acting by almost everyone. Definitely worth seeing. I'll be getting the DVD as soon as I can. Pretty sad year for movies so far. After I see Moon, there's nothing else out there I'm interested in until Inglorious Basterds and maybe Shutter Island.

EDIT: Seriously, if you don't know who Dave Eggers is, read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, then read You Shall Know Our Velocity!, then What is the What? and then try to find every short story/article/book introduction he's ever written. Just do it.

I finally saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
I liked the humour (especially the part with the Felix Felicis) but I didn't like the ending, I don't think a lot of stuff was explained. And Hermione's whinging about Ron all the time.

Body of Lies

Very good. A little hard to follow (but not as much as Syriana), but you could pretty much put everything together by the next scene the few times that happened. I really liked the idea DiCaprio came up with maybe an hour or so into the movie to try to find/lure out their target terrorist. Pretty original idea. He was very good as usual.

Traitor

It was a terrorism double header the last couple of nights  ;D. Less confusing than Body of Lies, and maybe even better. I think us common folk could kind of relate to this story and Cheadle's character moreso than that of Body of Lies. Cheadle was excellent and so was the arab guy who he was close with in the movie. Wouldnt say there was a twist in the ending, but something did happen that I didnt expect.

Adaptation.

First time Ive watched this in maybe 5 or 6 years. Man, I love this movie. Streep, Cooper, and Cage are all brilliant, as is the storyline. 2 of the most realistic car crashes Ive even seen in film as well.

I greatly enjoyed the film within the context of the films, but damn can they have at least stayed closer to the book? Would it have hurt?

Adaptation is great, haven't seen it in awhile either. Cage is underrated, people always focus on the bad and in some cases haven't even seen the good movies he's in. Wild At Heart, Raising Arizona, Adaptation, Brining Out The Dead, and Knowing are all good Cage movies.
Looking at IMDB, it does seem like the crap outweighs the good.

In the last decade or so, Cage has definitely done his share of bad box office movies, and if you ask me, based on the characters he has more often played, Im not surprised he's more recognized for his more recent craptastic movies.

And its not just the movie's you mentioned as good movies, but he has many more very good movies/performances than that...

Leaving Las Vegas, Red Rock West, 8MM, The Rock, Kiss Of Death, Lord of War, Windtalkers, Trapped In Paradise, The Weatherman...even Matchstick Men and Gone In Sixty Seconds were decent.

I'll always love Con Air, Snake Eyes, and Face/Off too. I wish he'd make more of those instead of National Treasure, Next, Ghost Rider (which there is going to be a sequel), etc. If you think about it though, he made plenty of box office drawing flicks in the 90's, the only difference is those ones were good  ;D

The Bad Lieutenant remake has a chance at being good. Cage can definitely pull that role off.

Despite Lord of War being his only very good performance of the last 5 years, and basically only good movie, Cage definitely knows what he's doing. Ive seen you recommend Knowing twice, so maybe I'll try to see that one. It looked like another PoS to me though.

Lord of War surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be nearly as good as it was. Definitely a quality movie.

Yeah, I wasnt even going to watch it because I figured it was just another shitty Cage movie, but a friend told me it was good, so I did, and it definitely was good.

Even has a 7.7 rating on IMDB, which despite me liking it a lot even surprises me. Thats high for there.

I saw The Great Dictator. the ending was amazing. I had tears streaming down my face. I am so amazed at how talented and gifted charlie chaplin was, it's unbelievable. I am now making it my goal to see every single chaplin film.

I saw Funny People last night.  It was really good.  I like the Judd Apatow movies though.  I like a movie that's not afraid to be funny and serious, this one definitely pulled it off.

It definitely looks very funny.

Most people dont realize its only the 3rd movie Apatow's actually directed because they think he directed a lot of the movies he's associated with and/or produced (Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pienapple Express, Walk Hard, Anchorman, etc).

The only movies he actually he directed are 40 Yr Old Virg and Knocked Up, which I actually think are my 2 favorite movies out of any of the ones I just mentioned and other comedies with the Rogen's, Rudd's, etc. so Im definitely looking forward to seeing this one.

Might have to watch it online tonight..hmm
