QuoteJust in from seeing 500 Days of Summer. Really enjoyed it, pretty amusing and great music.
I hope I can go see this soon.

I hardly ever watch movies but I finally saw Pineapple Express and Across The Universe. Both were great.
How loud can silence get?

I didnt, but I was damn close a couple times. Pretty emotional and intense stuff for a movie whose target audience is kids, although I think the sad parts touch people old enough to comprehend it more.

Word on the street is that since they upped it to 10 films being nominated for the Best Picture Oscar in 2010 (which I dont agree with, seems like too many to me, and could steal votes from a contender), Up! is almost a shoe-in to be nominated.

Drag Me To Hell - not bad but disappointing when you consider this is the man that gave us the Evil Dead trilogy.

I think that honestly pixar's animation targets kids but thats it- anyone who has seen any recent pixar movie knows that the stories are far more serious and deeper than any kids movie. People should realize that their movies aren't really just for kids and a lot of times, kids won't get it.  They are always concerned about making a great looking movie with an even better story.  I love that company so much and think that they can't be be

I thought Up had much more emotional parts than any other Pixar movie, but there always has been a ton of content that goes right over a kids head.

Next Day Air

When I first saw the trailer, I had pretty high expectations considering the cast, but it seemed like it barely made it a week in theaters. That said, I thought it was damn funny, and the story is tight and the movie just keeps rolling for its 90 minute length. Its almost like a black Guy Ritchie movie. There are a few parts where it also seems to pay homage to other movies. Only complaint wouldve been more screentime for Mos Def, which is a minor one. Avon Barksdale was very good, and Mike Epps was golden.

I seriously dont think Ive ever seen Mike Epps in a movie or do standup and not laugh my ass off. Dude is really underrated IMO. I wish he was in movies more often.

I knew that Will Smith's Kid was the new Karate Kid (Kung Fu Kid now?!) but Jackie Chan is Mr. Miyage?!!

When they remake 8 1/2 as a lavish musical and Seven Samurai with George Clooney no, nothing is sacred anymore.

Be prepared, the next few years will be remake overload. Apparently creativity is gone?

In the film industry it is. Music is hanging in there fairly well. Pop is horrible, but at least indie music hasn't become homogenized the way indie film has. Now and then, you can still get a good book too. But film is more or less done. Nothing can save it now.

I watched "Nightwatch" and "Daywatch" last night.  Great effects and interesting story premise but I am having a hard time figuring out the direction the 3rd part of this story will take (if it even gets made)

I agree somewhat. Compared to the so-called new funny movies. Next Day Air is hilarious. That being said they aren't making anymore Caddyshack's these days. :-X

guess this should go under random thoughts--but why did every bad guy in Baywatch look like Edward James Olmos?

I dont know, theres been some damn good comedies the last 5 years or so that I think will be classics after awhile. Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman, Old School, Step Brothers, Bad Santa.

There are so many more movies these days, just harder to really narrow it down to a handful of movies each decade and that fit everyone's sense of humor (since comedies today for the most part are more crude, but I like it  ;D).

Watched "Wall-E" and found it totally entertaining.  I like the fact that the animated movies these days reach all age groups.
