Have you seen Drag Me To Hell Jaimoe? Not terrible but I was disappointed...I want to watch a good horror!

Not yet, but I'll see it soon. There's some good new horror around, but just not made in North America: see France, Korea etc...

Still, I've heard I'd like Drag Me To Hell, even if Bruce isn't in it  :)

QuoteAnyone lucky enough to see low budget horror film Paranormal Activity yet? It's getting raves for being one of the scariest movies in decades... Spielberg said it's the scariest film he's ever seen. I don't know if I want to see it since I like sleeping.
Saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago on AICN, looks interesting...

Sticking to their "1 million demands or no nationwide release" guns, Paramount Pictures announced tonight that horror flick "Paranormal Activity" will expand across the country on Friday, Oct. 16 after hitting the requested seven figure plateau.

Opening in 12 theaters on Sept. 26, "Activity" grossed $77,000 in only midnight screenings.  The studio has slowly expanded "based on demand" finally reaching 159 theaters this weekend and a regular showtime schedule.  With zero traditional marketing dollars and just word of mouth, the low budget thriller has grossed a a very impressive $1.2 million as of Thurs., Oct. 8.

In a statement from the studio, Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures Rob Moore said, "From the very beginning, we put this film in the hands of the fans and we trusted them to tell us where and when it should be seen. We couldn't be more thrilled by their overwhelming support and we are happy to release the film in every town - big and small."

It's unclear if the studio, which has already made a huge profit on the film as it is, will commit to a traditional marketing campaign for the national release.

The Fox & The Hound - not anywhere close to Disney's best but I have a soft spot for it.

I had a sticker album for the film when I was young & used to trade with a friend who lived up the road. I remember going up to his house in the pouring rain one afternoon because he had a sticker I needed  ::)

Technically not a Movie...

Disc 1 of The Cure's Trilogy DVD where they play Pornography, Disintegration, and Blood Flowers on 3 consecutive nights. Disc 1 is Pornography and Disintegration. Amazing. I regret never seeing them in concert

I read something about that on a webpage but was lucky enough to look away in time.

Just a friendly reminder to ask people to take care about posting spoliers  :)

Thanks fellow movie fans  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Charlie Wilson's War

I'd give this a solid meh. Not bad, but after 45min-1hr, I wasnt really interested in watching it anymore. Hanks was pretty good, PSH was good as usual, but nothing ever really drew me in.

5/10

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Although a bit cheese-infused, I enjoyed the first 2 movies of this series and am a sucker for historically related movies in general. Thought this one had potential with the storyline, but the first 10 minutes were the most interesting part IMO. Really dragged through the middle hour or so, action sequences less entertaining, and the quest from when the Emperor was awakened to when he reached his destination just really seemed to lack suspense.

2 ridiculous missteps that made it feel even worse to me: Having Fraser/Weisz's son be someone in roughly his early 20's in this movie, when they act like little time has passed since the last movie ended and he was like 10 years old in that movie. Even worse, having Maria Bello replace Weisz. Im sure Weisz just declined and I dont think it takes much of a debate to know she's the better actress, but they had Bello step in like she was actually Weisz, terrible accent in hand. Just felt weird.

3/10 (and Id probably give each of the first 2 movies high 7.5-8 relative to box office flicks)

probably select theaters- doesn't seem like the type of movie to get wide spread releases.  who knows though.

Hawkeye

Saw "It Might Get Loud" last night.  Pretty good.  I expected more, I usually do.  There were some cool moments.  Jack White opening the film by building a lap-steel type guitar out of basically some wood, a coke bottle, and a string.  Jimmy Page talking about the recording of "When the Levee Breaks" was cool.  Lots of footage/pictures of the guys in their younger days.  I was hoping their jams together would have been better.  They seemed a little uninspired.  Jack White was the only one who really seemed like he really had something he wanted to say.  They're all obviously huge, but in such different places that it seemed like they didn't know what to say to each other at times.  Still, if you're a guitar player this is obviously a must-see.
We could.

I went to see Paranormal Activity the other day. It was just OK, I would give it 2 stars.  I probably would have enjoyed the movie more if I was watching it at my home.  The talking during the movie was fucking rediculous.  I think it was high school fuckface night at the theater.

If you got motion sickness from the camera in The Blair Witch Project you may want to take  some dramamine before you go see this movie.

I can't wait. Spike Jonze said in an interview "don't fool yourself into thinking it's a kid's movie. It's a movie about a kid, there is a difference"

Supposedly the studio test screened it to children who overwhelmingly had to leave in fits of tears and fear. They demanded changes, and Jonze was only willing to go so far because he didn't want it to appeal only to a young audience.
