Kramer vs Kramer

They don't make films like this anymore...

Meryl Streep gives a devastating performance (she's only in it for 15 minutes) and Dustin Hoffman is spot on.

Both worthy Oscar winners.

Not a bad film for £3 at the airport...

Shutter island. I thought it sucked.

Eh, it looked nice and Leo was good as usual, the story was way too cliche.

Shutter Island - I thought it was good. I didn't think the story was cliche. It wasn't hard to guess on one element of the story, but the rest of the details keep you guessing and I liked how the ending unfolded.

Blow - Good but second rate to other movies of this type - Casino, Scarface, Goodfellas etc....Yeah I know Blow isn't a gangster movie but the rags to riches story and drug use make it similar. Not enough Penelope Cruz in it, although her character was just an imitation of Sharon Stone in Casino anyway. Still enjoyed it for the most part.

The Lives Of Others - Excellent movie, pretty much flawless.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

The Lives of Others is possibly the best foreign movie Ive seen not named City of God

I absolutely love Blow, probably one of my 10 favorite movies from last decade. Ive never seen a movie make the viewer feel so sympathetic for the antihero
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons

Adventureland- Suprisingly enjoyable. I totally empathized with the male lead. Plus, apparently I am one of the few men who find Kristen Stewart beyond attractive. And the soundtrack was great.

The movie theater where I work is showing the oscar nominations for best animated shorts.  I had a break and walked in on this.  The last of the flims,  'Logorama' from France.  16 mins with a disclaimer for language and mild violence, to give parents a heads up. This 8 year old yelled out 'Oh man!' as his folks got up.

Just finished "Logorama".  Very cool.  Says a lot about corporate culture.

The wife and I watched "Taking Woodstock" last night.  Not bad.  Kinda slow at times.  I was hoping for more of the actual concert, but understand it would have to be a different movie with a much bigger budget.

Ang Lee did a nice job conveying the visual aspects of an LSD trip, though.  I told my wife that was a good visual approximation of the experience.  She thinks I'm now even weirder than ever.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Very cool! Did anyone else think it was gonna be about logs?
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Sin Nombre - Very good movie, excellent scenery! Recommended if you like City Of God and Amores Perros, but I wouldn't rate it as being as good as those.

I came on to post about the same movie.  It's definitely not up there with CoG and Amores Perros, but it's a pretty good gangster road movie.  Loved the train scenes, and scenery, too.

I'm glad I didn't know anything about MS13 when we were travelling in Central America.  They look like proper nutters.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Saw 'The Unloved' by Samantha Morten last night at the ICA.

Bleak, but good.

Willem Dafoe was in the bar before the film and he ended seating in the next seat but one next to me....

Quite short actually but he's got a killer grin..

He was scarier in Spiderman when he took his mask off. Also, he is the worlds ugliest cross dresser.
