I watched 2081 the other day.  It's a short film, probably 20minutes long.  An adaptation a Kurt Vonnegut story.  Vonnegut was awesome.  I'm not sure if I'd recommend it unless you can download it or get it for free.

QuoteI hear ya on that. I really havent seen a Pixar movie I didnt enjoy.

When it comes to Pixar, I think its almost personal preference because theyre all good, and have strengths on different levels

True enough. I like Ratatouille more than Wall-E and most of the other Pixar films because I like fine dining and have been to Paris twice in the past three years. The film nails France, food critics and gastro delights.

Ratatouille was genius... i'm not going to get into it, but it was.

My fiancee and I watched The September Issue last night.

Its about the editor of Vogue Magazine and getting the magazine ready for their most popular september issue.  It followed some art directors and photographers and various other company employees and it was really good.  The one director is an amazing artist and put together beautiful photographs.  It was very interesting and I enjoyed watching it.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Fantastic Mr. Fox - I liked it, I think Wes Anderson's attention to detail was perfect for a project like this. I liked how they said "cuss" instead of swearing. I'd still rather watch his other movies though.

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call - New Orleans
This movie was pretty insane and left me scratching my head a bit, but I liked it. Terrible name for a movie, I can't believe Herzog agreed to that. It had some very good tense moments, and some good random moments too. In the 'making of' feature Herzog described it as being a dark comedy, but there wasn't much I found funny. No one does dark humor as good as the Coens.

I watched this last night on Blu-ray (I have a fancy new DVD player). Anyway, the movie isn't very funny (the over-the-top and distasteful depictions of drug use gets in the way of the humour), but Cage is well cast as a lunatic drug-addled dirty cop. One of the only times I've found a hard drug user actually funny in film was Dennis Hopper in the doc, Hearts of Darkness.

I thought Bad Lieutenant was awesome.  The part I loved about it is that's what I imagine Nick Cage like in real life.  Snortin coke all the time, fucking other dudes bitches, etc.  Classic Nicholas Cage.

just looked it up on imdb, never seen it.  the reviews look sweet perhaps I'll download it.  remember the movie 8mm? That movie was fucked up.  Nick Cage was tracking down some snuff film killer or some shit.  after that he was all gone in 60seconds mode.  Con Air and Face Off, though cheese are classic 90's action movies.  haha they're up their with Speed.  The movie's will never win awards but at the same time they'll never be forgotten.  Kinda like Patrick Sawyze.

Sticky...Wild at Heart is a David Lynch movie. It's totally f*cked, but good. Check it out. I think you'll like it.

I haven't really seen anything by david lynch other than Dune.  I downloaded Blue Velvet but never got around to watching it and must have deleted it.  Should probably get on the ball.  Eraserhead sounds crazy.  I feel like I've seen the elephant man or parts of it.  Other than that, no idea what up with ol' lynchie boy.

Lynch is an interesting director. Blue Velvet is his best film, although Elephant Man is awesome too. Eraserhead is nearly unwatchable and Dune sucks ass. FYI, there's two recent Dune mini-series worth picking up - they are far better and more comprehensive than the mess that is Lynch's Dune.

that part at the end when the little girl says whatever the fuck that hilarious shit is made me laugh until tears were streaming down my face.  for such a "huge" production - riding the the big worm, etc. that little glowly girl being the voice of reason was icing on the fucking cake man hahaha.  dune was alright.

I know it has nothing to do with david lynch but the movie Altered States is fuckin sweet for an 80's movie.  it's pretty sweet.

oh and if I'm going to start posting in this thread I mine as well recommend you all watch the most fucked up movie ever made: Antichrist.  Don't watch any trailers before hand (I didn't).  just download it and watch it by yourself.  I fucking dare you.  It's a polish film about feminism or something, it was so fucked up I kinda missed the point other than.. well.. just watch it.  If you read what it's about or the spoilers and shit you won't watch it I guarentee.  That movie messed me up for a couple days though.  Fucked me up bad.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

I'll check him out soulshine.  it's a good time to check out some classics, I'm tired of watching horrible movies every weekend in hopes that maybe, just maybe humanity will surprise me.  Avatar? what a piece of shit.  I'm so tired of CGI everything.  what happened to emotions and storyline?  you know, the purpose of a movie? haha I guess michael bay can make more money to film some pyrotechnics dude blowin up a miniature bridge and a bunch of Chryslers.  product place in movies is absurd.

8MM is probably one of my favorite Cage movies. Certainly not for everyone, but the tension and feel that movie has is fantastic. A bunch of great supporting performances too: Joaquin Phoenix, James Gandolfini, Peter Stormare.

I mentioned it last week, but I love Con Air and Face/Off as well. Talk about great ensemble cast in Con Air, from Malkovich down to Chappelle. Gotta throw The Rock in there as well.

I started watching David Lynch's movie Inland Empire last week and I couldnt help but turn that shit off. I watched it for an hour, but knowing I would have to sit thru 2 more hours of that garbage, I had to turn it off. I dont know how those actors were able to stay sane while filming that 3 hour poop of a film.

I find Lynch to be one of the most overrated directors going. Inland Empire was shit, Eraserhead is torture to watch, and Blue Velvet, while good, is terribly overrated as the cult classic that it is. Dennis Hopper is the only thing that makes Blue Velvet worth watching. Mulholland Dr was okay, but if someone else directed it it probably wouldve gotten panned.

I havent seen Wild At Heart, but Lost Highway is the only Lynch movie I could actually say I enjoyed

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Before I started coming here i didn't know anything about Lynch, now he's one of my favorites. Inland Empire was not one of my favorites but I thought it exceeded on many levels. Mulhulland DR, Wild At Heart, Lost Highway, and Blue Velvet I think are his best. Inland Empire and Eraserhead are his most abstract films and are definitely not for everyone. The Elephant man is very good too and one of the saddest movies I've seen. Twin Peaks is one of the best shows ever! It would be impossible for a show like that to exist today on network TV. Way ahead of it's time.

Do you like those 4 movies that much, or just dont have that many writers/directors you could say you really liked at least 4 of their movies? Just wondering, because although liking 3 of those (and I think I would like Wild at Heart based on the times Ive watched 10 minutes of it here and there), but I could think of a couple dozen directors probably who have a resume of films I prefer.

I dont think he's bad, I just think because of how unique and bizarre his movies tend to be, he gets bonus points Im not sure he deserves.
