QuoteDo you like those 4 movies that much, or just dont have that many writers/directors you could say you really liked at least 4 of their movies? Just wondering, because although liking 3 of those (and I think I would like Wild at Heart based on the times Ive watched 10 minutes of it here and there), but I could think of a couple dozen directors probably who have a resume of films I prefer.

I dont think he's bad, I just think because of how unique and bizarre his movies tend to be, he gets bonus points Im not sure he deserves.

No, there are several director's who I like 4 or more of their films: Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Gondry, Tarentino, Kubrick, Coppola, Gilliam, Coen brothers, Leone, Cronenberg, etc....
I guess it's just personal preference that I like his movies that much, I can understand that not everyone would appreciate them the same way. I think my artistic background lends me to appreciate his films more.
I just lent Eraserhead to a friend of mine who has similar movie taste as mine, but is much more into horror than me. He has an appreciation for movies with a cult following but I kinda warned him of this one. I had previously lent him Wild At Heart, Lost Highway, and The Elephant Man, I wanted to ease him into those Lynch films before getting his mind blown by Eraserhead. He thought Lost Highway and Wild At Heart were great, I don't think he was crazy about The Elephant Man. Blue Velvet will most likely be my next recommendation.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I would say I appreciate his movies more than enjoy them, for the most part.

I saw Cop Out last night.  Tracy Morgan is hilarious and I'm glad he's finally getting some recognition.  The movie wasn't the best in the world but there were some funny moments most def.

Last night, while working the night shift, my work girlfriend asked me to watch (with her), Sex and the City: The Movie.

Well, I watched it.

The verdict?

First of all, I was only ever a casual watcher of the Sex series, but I found it normally funny and often relevant (although I personally hate the superficial embrace of fashion and style). However, what is shocking about this movie is that it is devoid of clever humour, or any sort of humour for that matter. Also, the movie is surprisingly depressing, thinly-written, shrill, self-absorbed and has no plot whatsoever. It plays out like a bad dramedy, minus the 'medy.

And another head-scratcher was seeing the cast bedecked in so-tacky-that-even-I-know-it's-tacky designer outfits and purses; Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a hideous wedding dress with a blue feather protruding from the top of her Bride of Frankenstein hair style was the most unintentially funny image from the film.

Avoid this movie. It ranks as one of the worst films of the last decade.

Tonight I'm going to make my work girlfriend watch something of my choosing; I wish I brought the Evil Dead II to work with me...

;D  All my dude friends were always so in love with those movies.

I've enjoyed SATC, but the movie was not what I had hoped for. First off it was sad...for a long time. Second, the a-hole doesn't always come around. So, as the series ended and then we went through the movie I did not feel so great about her ending up w/ Big. Sure we always hope that we can change him and make it happen but the reality is we cant. Aidan was awesomesauce. From what I've seen he appears in the next movie. Hopefully, it will be a better one.
I'm sorry you had to suffer through it, but I'm proud of you for doing so! I always told my dude friends that they could learn a lot from the show AND see boobs at the same time. You are a good man.

Like I said, I did like the show. The movie is terrible, but my work girlfriend is awesome. I don't like bailing on movies either, no matter how bad they are. I gotta know what I don't like too.

I do indeed have a work girlfriend. However, she's also one of my best friends.

Havent seen it, but when I heard this was a Kevin Smith movie, it amazed me. It just looked like a standard, average at best box office comedy to me.

I saw that show Marriage Ref on thursday for the first time, and Tracy Morgan was on it. Seems like a funny show anyway, but TM killed it.

The Unborn
I actually finished the whole thing, but if I tried to write this review more than a couple days after I saw it, Id probably forget I watched it. Gary Oldman and Idris Elba were brought along way too late to even make it decent. When it comes to horror/sci-fi movies like this, sometimes bad is still good, but this was just bad. Megan Fox lookalike - Odette Yussman - was pretty good as the lead actually, and if anything was nice to look at without annoying you like Megan Fox seems to after awhile
1.5/5

The Rocker
Rainn Wilson is usually either hilarious or not funny at all to me. Despite plenty of cheese, Wilson does his best Jack Black imitation and succeeds with a surprisingly high amount of laughs. I expected this movie to suck and that I wouldnt even finish it, but the laughs are consistent and the film moves at a nice pace. I liked it, but I think movie would be at its best for 9-13 year olds interested in music
2.9/5

The Pianist
I remember starting to watch this not long after it came out but turned it off after 30 minutes (dont recall why exactly). It is pretty slow at initially, and since you know whats going to happen, the first 45 minutes makes you want the film to start going somewhere despite solid acting from no-names + Brody. Although the first half almost makes you feel like one of the Jews youre watching because of the strain it kind of puts on you, the last hour and 15 minutes more than makes up for it and is riveting. I have yet to see a movie where a didnt like Brody's performance, and this one is no different. As the film progresses, so do his struggles and sanity, which he exhibits to a tee. Not sure if this was actually filmed in Warsaw or not, but the backdrops, buildings, and their interiors were great. One of those movies like Frost/Nixon which I saw recently: pretty much what I expected going in, respect what I saw, but I didnt love it. Doubt I'll ever watch it again, but Id recommend at least seeing it once

Mrs W and I watched Australia over the weekend - it was a surprise delivery from LoveFilm.  I found it a strange mix of styles, running from epic romance to war film.  All in all a strange Luhrmann offering.

We then watched Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos), a Spanish language film with Penelope Cruz, which I really enjoyed.  Some great performances (in particular Cruz), and a gripping storyline.  Not quite up there with Volver (imo), but still well worth watching.

We just watched 2010 yesterday.  Despite the fact that I could watch John Cusack all day, that movie was LAME.  Good thing it was only $1 rentl.

yeah I didn't even realize it was a kevin smith film until the end credits.  He didn't write it, just directed.  Doesn't he usually write his own?

I fell asleep halfway through Traitor with Don Cheadle, with an assist from beer and ???.  Should I bother finishing it? (the movie, that is)
