I've got some catching up to do...

The Wolfman 2.75/5  Fun w/gore and lore.

Year One  1.5/5  What a waste of talent and potential.

The Invention of Lying 2.5/5  You have to like Ricky Gervais to like this movie

She's Out of My League 2/5  Kind of a rought-draft Apatow effort

When You're Strange (The Doors doc)  4.5/5  The real Jim Morrison is far more intense than even Oliver Stone can muster

Beyond the Lighted Stage (Rush doc) 5/5  Awesome, moving story of the kings of geek rock

Toy Story 3 (IMAX 3D) 5/5  Moved to tears, in a good way

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Inception - excellent movie, stays with you long after the credits roll.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I need to see inception bad, big time.

Splice - 3.5/10 - fucking retarded.  thought it would be at least a little sweet but it wasn't.

Death At A Funeral - 5/10 - not that funny.  maybe it's because i wasn't in the demographic they were looking for.  I expected a lot more out of chris rock and martin lawerence.  Tracy Morgan was hilarious as always tho.

Predators - 7/10 - action packed, pretty solid cast but I agree with what headdy said the other day, Morpheus had a fairly lame role and his acting was pretty cheesy.  Other than that it was better than the last couple attempts at a Predator movie.

8: The Mormon Proposition - I'm not even going to rate this since it's an activist film.  It is what it is, exposes the Mormon church and how much they suck at life.  It talks about how they're worth 30+ billion dollars and form coalitions with the catholics and other religions so they can use their money towards political efforts (such as prop 8) and not have anybody point the finger at them directly.  It was kinda creepy, everybody knows Mormon's are insane so it wasn't a surprise.

Have you seen the original british comedy of the same name that came out a few years ago? Its hilarious. This one, like most remakes, looks terrible

nope I haven't seen it, who is in it? maybe I'll check it out.  The movie made me feel like I was at a funeral all day.  bored.  Tracy Morgan's improv is the only thing that made the movie watchable for me.

No one real famous, but a few recognizable actors - Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting, Black Hawk Down), Alan Tudyk (Serenity, Dodgeball), and Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent, Find Me Guilty). They took the basic premise - and name - from this movie and basically made an Americanized black version of it. Doesnt feel like a funeral at all, fun the whole movie. Looks like it won the HBO, Cinemax, Locarno International Film Festival, and US Comedy Arts Festival each version of their audience award in 2007. Trust me, check it out.

After Life - 6/10 - If you want to see that Christina Ricci chick naked this movie is for you.   It's a recycled concept and the ending is pretty lame.

Operation - Endgame - 6/10 - Another movie I thought might end up being hilarious because of the cast.  Corddry was pretty funny and Zach's character was funny as always it just simply wasn't enough to make me want to ever see this movie again.  Proof again that simply putting Zach on screen is funny.

Top of the queue! Always had a thing for her. She was pretty hot in Black Snake Moan (solid movie if you get past her being chained by Samuel L Jackson for a half hour, awesome soundtrack). Hard to believe she's 30. I remember her as a kid in movies like Casper, Addams Family, and Gold Diggers.

Bunch of movies Ive seen the last few weeks that I realized I never posted in here....

Away We Go
Enjoyable but not ground breaking. I thought the supporting cast - Catherine O'Hara, Jeff Daniels, Alison Janney, Jim Gaffigan, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and a couple others - really kept this afloat as opposed to sinking, although there was a good amount of humorous and interesting dialogue between the 2 leads. Thought the Alexi Murdoch based soundtrack was a excellent choice and really set the tone for the movie, nice to see some new originals from AM just for the soundtrack as well. Didnt realize it was a Sam Mendes movie until the end credits, which makes me less surprised this movie was well rounded with good acting performances and overall solid
6.9/10

From Hell
I saw this around when it came out on DVD but didnt remember much about it, except being disappointed. I really want to like the movie a lot, but something about it holds me back and there just isnt enough tension as the film progresses. The most obvious thing wrong with the movie is Heather Graham, who was terribly miscast in general, but is too pretty, kind, and well-mannered to be believable as a prostitute here. Depp really carries the movie and I thought this actually was one of his more interesting as well as entertaining roles. The thing about Depp though is while I think he's a very good actor, how much I like his movies doesnt translate to the quantity Id expect. Love Donnie Brasco and Blow, but the rest of his movies are just pretty good (Sleepy Hollow, Ninth Gate, Fear and Loathing), or not my thing. I think the ending here, or should I say the character who is Jack the Ripper, is fairly predictable, but is even moreso with how hard they try to make the viewer believe the Ripper is a couple other characters. Not terrible, but should be better
5.2/10

Suburban Commando
I cant believe Ive never seen this movie before. The Hulkster brings the acting chops and comedic flavor to this cheesy classic. Had I saw this when I was younger, it wouldve been right in my wheelhouse with Willow, Goonies, 3 Ninjas, Super Mario Bros, the TMNT movies and Surf Ninjas. I was pretty faded when I watched this, but that only made it funnier
9/10

Brooklyn's Finest
From beginning to end, struck me as a movie where the parts where better than the whole, with a "tie the story together" scenario you could see coming to boot. Cinematography and lighting make it look like Fuqua's 2nd son after Training Day, but the characterization is totally different. Kind of cliched, but what cop movie doesnt have the bad cop, old cop, or undercover cop in it that is any good? You could call it cliche, but its really just part of the subgenre. I thought Cheadle was solid as usual in this, but Ethan Hawke was the best of the bunch. Gere made the most of his time with the weakest part, though. All 3, and Snipes and Omar Little to a lesser degree, made the movie better than you'd expect from the script. The character development was great, but storyline didnt quite do it justice. When youre halfway through and none of the stories coalesce, its clear its not going to be a great movie, but still one where all 3 main characters keep it interesting and above the rim. With an original storyline, this couldve been great. The Wire clientele definitely didnt hurt.  Although youve seen some things here before (like in 75% of movies that are coming out these days), strong characters and acting will always allow me to enjoy a movie - especially one like this. Id put it a couple notches below We Own The Night, and about on par with Pride & Glory which was also carried by the acting as far as recent cop dramas go.
7.4/10

Punisher: War Zone
Pretty sweet action/shootout scenes, but thats all it had going for it. Jimmy McNulty as the antagonist with a face that went thru a meatgrinder (literally) was laughable and just every time he's on screen you cant help but be distracted and not take him seriously. The movie does kind of work if you just view it as a comic, kind of like Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy. I actually thought the Punisher movie with Thomas Jane was pretty good and underrated compared to most comic book adaptations, but this was meh
4.2/10

The Hurt Locker
Thought it was very good, not great. I thought it tailed off over the last 45 minutes or so, until the suicide bomber and ending scenes which I liked a lot. Despite not much character development, I thought Renner did a great job and gives the viewer a great feel for his character despite limited screentime when there wasnt action. I think as a whole, it wouldve been better if they had a few more, and longer scenes, back at base in the first half to allow more of the defusing scenes to be spread later into the movie, as some scenes such as fleeing off base to find the kid's killer were just ludicrous (even for a thrill seeker like him). Wouldve allowed more character development, especially for the other 2 guys, which both felt like they could have been even more interesting characters; while at the same time cutting out some of the fat from the 2nd half. Thought Renner's BA nomination was well deserved. Ive still only seen 4 of the BP nominees from last year (THL, Avatar, Basterds, Up), so while I dont think I wouldve picked this for BP (probably go Basterds), Im not sure I have a big beef with it winning either. That said, Cameron definitely shouldve won best director over Bigelow
