Just curious if any of you Fighter fans are also fans of Mickey Ward? I used to love watching him box, especially the legendary wars he had with the late great Arturo Gatti.

I didnt really get into boxing until 4-5 years ago, so Ward was done by then. Still havent seen his Gatti trilogy yet but Im sure I will at some point

True Grit 9/10 - fucking loved it.  the little girl was sweet and having bridges/damon play opposites almost like the conscience on the little girls shoulder, jeff the dark side, matt the light.  her right in the middle.  it's pretty short, but awesome.

The Fighter 7.5/10 - a little slow, it's more a drama than anything.  like said above Bale is pretty great.  I want to bone Amy Adams in the face.

I wouldn't mind boning Christian Bale in the face...

I watched two of those epic battles live. Gatti was one of the most exciting fighters of his era and his life was just as a compelling as Ward's, or moreso. I do think his estranged wife had a hand in his death.

Finally caught true grit last night...Myself and 2 friends did it right and pigged out on local BBQ and ate a whole rack of ribs, a whole chicken and a lotta BBQ baked beans/cornbread beforehand! It was a really fun watch and surprisingly straightforward for the Coen Brothers. Great performances by all and very well shot. All in all, I find No Country to be better but what can really beat it. I'd give True Grit 4.5/5

Further Notes:
What was with the guy making animal noises? (Hilariously Coen bros)
Was that Barry Pepper playing a character named Ned Pepper?
We were psyched when they shot the cornbread
The Doctor was amazing!
Oh, I will dine on honey dew And drink the Milk of Paradiseeeee

You should have had some whiskey a la Deadwood too. Yes, Pepper plays Pepper (just a coincidence).

The King's Speech was so so so good.  Could not recommend it more.  Really feelgood, but some interesting emotional conflict at the denouement as well.

Colin Firth was fantastic; great fit for the role.  He'd always seemed like a rather...constipated actor IMO, but it worked for him here.

Must, must see this. Even though I have a tendency to break into spontaneous hysterics whenever I hear a speech impediment.  Isn't that's awful?  It's totally not meant to be mean spirited....since I am a child, any kind of odd lisps or stammers are just impossible for me.  Bob says I'm going straight to helll  ;D.

I struggled with a stammer through my youth to my mid '20s. It got really bad in loud places or when I was unsure of myself. Stuttering made me a shy kid, but I ain't shy now. Hilarious.

Brothers- Starring the guy that played Donnie Darko and the guy who played Spiderman. Also the hip chick from Garden State. Damn I'm getting old;/
The time is near, to come forward with whatever killed your spark.

The Box - that movie where, if you push the button on this box, you get $1 million, but someone, somewhere in the world, someone you don't know...dies.  It's much different than I thought it would be.  I was thinking it would be a straight-up, straightforward storyline, but there's a lot more to it (maybe too much  :-\ ).  I thought that, stylistically, it was pretty well done, which also surprised me.  I just wasn't expecting much (anything) of a visual aesthetic.  Not bad, ending is a little wishy-washy IMO.

7/10

Id say you liked it more than me. First half hour was good, last half hour was good. What you go thru to get to the end was pretty meh though. Mightve been better as an hour episode of Twilight Zone

Finally caught Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. Amazing visuals. I am not a gamer but actually don't feel like you have to be to appreciate. Loved Edgar Wrights' Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. However, SP V TW has absolutely no heart, and the jokes/comedy do not always land. Each actor/actress played their roles as if they were emotionally autistic to the point where neither myself nor my fiancee cared whether anyone ended up together. Great special effects, fun movie, no heart.
2.5 or 3/5

Finally got around to watching a couple of DVDs this week:

Inglorious Basterds - excellent Tarantino-esque fun.

Harry Brown - Possibly a career-best performance from Caine as seeks revenge on the local gang in a London sink estate.  It's dark and gritty and a great watch.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side
