New from Terrence Malick

The Tree of Life Trailer 2011 HD

I've been hearing so much about this movie.  it sounds nuts.

I thought Bridesmaids was hilarious....but what should I have expected from a feig/apatow creation, they were the masterminds behind freaks and geeks.

melissa mccarthy was a comic genious in this movie.

rose byrne also has great comic chops

it was also the first time I was endeared and not annoyed by kristen wiig

4.5/5

Watched Hangover 2 today! Shit was insane. :D Great cast of  characters!

Hmm....word on the street is its average at best and Bridesmaids is much better

I thought Hangover II was better than the first one to be honest.  Zach and that Chinese guy are funny every time they talk or react.  Ed Helms is solid.  there are cheap laughs, build up jokes, running jokes, etc.   it has it's highs and lows.  Zach as Alan is one hilarious fucking character.

I thought Hangover was great the first watch but not near as funny on multiple viewings (Zach really saves it there). Certainly wont have an opinion until I see the new one myself

Brothers
Expected to like it, but thought it was even better & very good. I felt this exhibited the family/home angle of war better than any other movie Ive seen (and few show that aspect). Solid story, I wish they went into more detail with Gyllenhaal's character/past and extended the movie after Maguire came back after being thought dead plus his character was totally different, but I cant complain much with that because what carries the movie is the acting. IMO, both Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal give their best performances to date (though Darko makes it tough for me to say that), which makes this a must see just based on that, but the entire supporting cast is excellent as well, especially Sam Shepard and Maguire's 2 daughters. Portman was solid, but left me wanting a little bit more. Maybe Im forgetting a role/movie, but I thought Maguire exemplified a solider with PTSD better than anyone Ive seen. Acting aside, the movie isnt much better than average, but its the acting that elevates it at least a couple notches. Hopefully Maguire and Jake G are rich enough where they can start going for better roles/movies as opposed to box office schlock.

Unthinkable
Pretty much a constant suspense thrill ride. Was nothing like I expected going in based on the netflix summary (which are getting shorter and worse seemingly). Samuel L. was very good, but I thought was really kept this movie entertaining and interesting was the casting of Michael Sheen as the terrorist being interrogated. Without a good actor in that role, this movie wouldnt have been near as entertaining. I liked it a lot, but ultimately the ending left a bad taste in my mouth.

The new X-Men was fantastic. Great cast, very stylish. Kevin Bacon is so badass.

Wasn't Havoc Scott Summers brother? Alex Summers? Anyway...great movie. Michael Fassbender is a maniac and I dig James McAvoy, too, but every time he put his fingers to his temples I cringed a little. Don't know why, but it bothered me.

I'm not really sure I was pretty f'd up when I watched it.  the telekinesis thing is always lame in movies.  when he froze time it was pretty sweet tho.

Randall

The Road.  Bleak, realistic and turned me into an emotional mess.

How was the new X-Men compared to the other 4? I actually thought they got increasingly worse until the Wolverine one (the last one) which I thought was the best though its been awhile since Ive seen the other 3. Felt like it had a more focused and detailed storyline which Im always a fan of. Plus, the supervillain was fuckin badass as shit.

Wolverine was a failure.  they ruined deadpool.  that said.  X-Men First Class has a dark vibe to it.  they even drop an F-bomb.  it's pretty damn sweet dude.  on par with the first two.  the red nightcrawler looking dude is wiiiiicked.

What he said. They did a great job with the background story and setting up the relationship between Xavier and Magneto. The red dude was fantastic and Kevin Bacon made for a good villian. I can't stand January Jones, but she even did a good job as Emma Frost. I think you'll like it, capt.

"tell me what you want me to fuck and I will fuck it..."

one of the most hilarious movies ever.

ManNamedTruth

I watch so many movies that I've been too lazy to list everything I watch lately, but I try to list stuff that I think is exceptionally good.
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father - A documentary someone made about his murdered friend (best if you didn't know the details going into the movie), an absolute devastating story. I teared up during this probably more than any movie.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Well I'll take yinz word for it on the new one but I thought the Wolverine prequel was better than at least a couple of the first 3 X-Men. Im not a big comic guy though so WTF do I know.

That said, Green Lantern looks pretty meh but Captain America looks pretty sweet.

From what Ive gathered so far, Cowboys & Aliens looks like the movie I most want to see this summer though.
