Neil was chatting with folks in a local coffee shop yesterday in my neighbourhood of Toronto Beaches. He was walking around the hood's great main street too.  Don't know why he's in town, but welcome back home Neil!

Can you keep it simple? Can you let the snare crack? Can you let it move without holding back?

Hey, if you get Starz on your cable or whatever, you have access to this.  For me on Comcast, its free On Demand under Starz HD.  Sweet!

Great movie, highly recommended, though I could have done without the "booger cam" footage from the camera mounted on Neil's mic.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Love "Journeys"! I don't know which portion I like more -- the journey segments, or the performance itself. I was at the first Massey Hall show of the two they taped, and somehow, the sound on this film BLOWS AWAY the sound that was at the actual show! It sounds... mammoth! I went to the premiere a few years ago, and Neil and Jonathan Demme were talking about how the film used digital recording techniques that had never been used before -- and man, you can hear it! What a great sounding film. "Leia", "You Never Call", "Love and War", "I Believe In You" -- so many highlights!

I love the journey segments though because, being from Toronto, it was SO cool to see Neil and Demme driving down the very same roads I'm on every day!

Hope you had an amazing time Ralph! Judging by the initial reviews, it looks like Neil did indeed add another new tune! Can't wait to hear some reports on how it sounded.

Sweet! I hope he plays it in Sydney.
How loud can silence get?

Whoa. Neil's most recent setlist might be one of the best all-time. After several dozen dates over the last half-year or so, the tour had settled into a comfortable (and mostly predictable) groove, and then he busts this setlist out of nowhere:

1.   Love And Only Love
2.   Powderfinger
3.   Born In Ontario
4.   Walk Like A Giant
5.   Hole In The Sky
6.   Heart Of Gold
7.   Twisted Road
8.   Singer Without A Song
9.   Ramada Inn
10.   Cinnamon Girl
11.   Cortez The Killer
12.   Dangerbird
13.   Barstool Blues
14.   Prisoners Of Rock 'n' Roll
15.   Opera Star
16.   Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)
17.   Sedan Delivery
---
18.   Like A Hurricane

OPERA STAR?! BARSTOOL BLUES?! DANGERBIRD?!?! Are you kidding me?!

this looked awesome.. my brother is going to show tonight so we'll see if he keeps it up.

It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, from on the rail right under Neil i might add....

Neil was on the edge and Crazy Horse were doing all they could to keep up. 36 hours later I'm still stunned. Was absolutely spectacular.

That is an incredible setlist, and so awesome how random is was for him to just deviate from the program so much in one show.  You guys who saw this are very lucky.

Ralph, I am so incredibly jealous that you got to attend this show. But feel so very fortunate that someone 'round here was lucky enough to be there! This show is one "When You Dance" away from being the DEFINITIVE Crazy Horse set.

I've been thinking about it all day, and if I was guaranteed they'd play this exact setlist, I'd throw down $300 for a spot on the rail. No wait, $400! C'mon Neil, call it the "Melbourne Tour" and bring this show back to North America for sell-outs coast to coast!

ralph

It was pretty special. This show was added last minute to the schedule. There were probably only 4000 people there. It really seemed like it was going to be just like the last 5 shows. We were waiting for Fuckin Up to start when the first notes of Cortez rang out. Assumed everything would go back to normal after that. It was after Dangerbird when Neil started Barstool Blues that it became obvious this was going to be special. Neil was just making it up as he went along. You could tell even the band didn't know what to expect next. And the choices were so quick, one song would finish and bang - straight into the next one. We'd had both Opera Star and PORnR in previous encores but they weren't played like they were in this show. Then HHMM came and we assumed that was it as it had been the main set closer but then came an amazing Sedan Delivery. And all I can say about the 18 minute LAH is if a recording of this show surfaces listen to this. It was extraordinary. All up it lasted just on 3 hours.

We're all assuming normality will return tonight for the 2nd Melbourne show. It's back to a 'normal' sized venue. But man, after the other night there is a feeling that anything may happen...

Ohhhhhh my GOD these setlists from down under have been UNREAL.

Neil busted out SURFER JOE & MOE THE SLEAZE last night. Probably my number one Neil guilty pleasure song. I don't see why Reactor gets trashed so much, I love that album. Man I hope they are recording these shows. Or they bring the tour 'round back to North America. These shows have been legendary.

oistheone

Just when I thought I had spent all the money I possibly could on concert tickets for this summer, I see that Neil and the boys will indeed swing back 'round these parts in the fall. A September date in Detroit has just popped up on Ticketmaster -- with a VIP Meet and Greet option, no less. Weird!

I'll starve myself for weeks before I miss another chance at seeing Neil and the Horse. Here's hoping a full tour is announced soon!

ralph

Melbourne Plenary show taping has just surfaced on Dime... And yes, its as good as I remembered it to be in my head!  :drum:
