These guys are flat out brilliant.  They ran a documentary on Vh1 called "I Trust You To Kill Me"  Many of you know that I absolutely LOVE the band 24hr. Front Desk and this band reminds me of them in some ways.  The lead singer plays a Dobro through some effects and he basically will just crush your soul, and send you into orbit with his syrupy sweet space rock.  I also could not possibly say enough great things about the documentary.  It is an intimate look at what music is really all about.  I could probably talk for three straight days about how amazing this band and the documentary are and still want to talk about it some more.  I'm not going to do that, just check them out for yourself.  Love,

Brian

They just played a free show at a record store in my town. Kieffer Sutherland is their manager. He was there as well. I think more people were there to see him than the band though.

That is a shame.  I will also say that from what I've heard so far you really should check out thier live stuff.  I think the album doesn't really fully express how much they can "GET DOWN"

I was thinking how they kinda remind me of the wonderful Buchanan who I hadn't listened to in a while so while catching up on that I was reading around and turns out Rocco and Buchanan are somehow connected and have shared stages. I like that. My soul is still not crushed but I like that.

Kory

you can't go wrong with a dobro...

He acted as their manager for only one year (or tour) specifically for the filming of their documentary. Kieffer owns a record label and signed Rocco and his band. He did the manager thing as a lark and it became a big challenge.

I just watched a small videoclip. live. I think I need to hear some live stuff.
where do I go?

sweatboard

It looks like they have a live ep but I can't find it.  The LP sounds "soft" compared to the live stuff.

Just picked up the disc. Thanks Brian, I have it on here at werk. It's pretty chill yo.  :)

That the one where Kiefer jumps into an xmas tree?

sweatboard

Yeah, the one where he dives into the X-Mas tree.  The story about Kiefer in the documentary is really good (it's so much better than you think it will be).  He has a bunch of great things to say.  I have a great deal of respect for that guy after watching the documentary.  It's very honest.

The CD is really good but I don't think it does a great job of expressing the intensity they play with live or the extent to which they can jam your face off.

I just finished watching the movie and LOVED IT.

I could sum it up in one word: TRUE

to quote Conan: 'I AM BUYING THAT RECORD!'

I have no fucking idea HOW I missed this thread. I just watched doc on VH1 last night. I always loved Keifer, but I have a whole new respect for him after watching this. I just purchased the album as I enjoyed the music that much. Anyone know the story on the Rabbit? Is that a little Harvyesque? Keifer has always been known for the partying. If the Rabbit is a Harvey reference, that histerical.

Brian- If you are still looking for the live EP, it's on Itunes for $4.99.

Kory- you are right. You usually cannot go wrong with a Dobro
